Libertarians should nominate libertarians, not conservatives. Bob Barr is a subhuman piece of shit. If you want to vote Republican, they have their own nominee. Instead of two Republican parties (one is more than enough), we need a Libertarian party that is actually libertarian.
Liberty does not mean "freedom from government." It means freedom to govern one's self. In such a case, there is government and that government is you. Liberty is the characteristic of monitoring, controlling, and disciplining one's self so society can truly prosper.
No, people have the right to fail. For example, if someone chooses they dont want to work or make a living, they have the right to choose that. Society is allowed to fail, individual liberty rules in a liberatarion society.
how can bob barr stand for freedom like ron paul!! Bob barr voted for the patriot act and the war in Iraq!!! Ron paul all the way!!! even if he's not on the ballet. yeah liberty bob barr voted for extending government power by voting for the patriot act
Bob Barr is an ex-Republican! Democrats and Republicans jumped on and voted for the Patriot Act.
Bill Clinton wasn't what liberals had hoped he'd be. Remember Echelon? Remember 1998, when Clinton sent 500,000 troops to get ready to attack Iraq because Saddam Hussein wouldn't let the UN weapons inspectors in? Remember December 1998, four days of bombing for the same reason? Remember September 1996, when Clinton signed DOMA into law?
Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party for President!!!
The Ron Paul rEVOLution continues!
Bob Barr, we don't believe you! You're an ex-CIA agent who voted FOR the Patriot Act and you support the War on Drugs...you're no libertarian! You people should really check out Chuck Baldwin and see what you think!
i actually just decided im voting Bob Barr of the Libertarian Party instead after reading an article Baldwin wrote entitled "Christian Right Just Doesn't Get It." In the 2nd paragraph he says, "We are pro-life; we stand for marriage as God defined it, we believe children should have the right to pray in school." He's too much of a theocrat for me. Im pro-choice and I support ALL individual rights including gays. SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE! I guess I'm more libertarian than conservative.
Sir, you say that Libertarians want freedom from all government. You are confusing libertarianism with anarchy. Anarchists want no government. Libertarians WANT a government THAT will protect each American's rights. Think of the saying "My right to swing my fist ends where your nose begins," for I have the full right to swing my fist AS LONG AS I don't disturb your rights. That is the government that libertarian-minded individuals seek: a government that will protect my rights and your rights.
I have a feeling that if I walked up to you in the grocery store and actually swung my fist at you, stopping just short of your nose, you would feel your rights had been violated by my act. Bad analogy.
This has nothing to do with how I feel. Whether or not I feel that my rights have been violated has no bearing on whether or not my rights actually were violated. Feelings are subjective. I am not discussing about how I feel. I am discussing what really is, that is, natural rights. Regardless of how I feel, my rights are not violated, and therefore the government should not intervene. If they would, that would violate your rights.
Some quotes taken from an open letter from Steve Kubby you can read on the LP of Tennessee's website.
"I can tell you that Barr and Root are sincere and effective spokesmen for reigning in the government, restoring our constitutional rights, allowing states to determine their own laws regarding drugs and for
the full legalization of medical marijuana."
"I now believe Barr and Root are the strongest pro-freedom ticket we've ever had"
with this new scandal out now with McClellan's, (the former White House Press Secretary), tell all book on Bush and Cheney and Rove selling the war, that spells BIG trouble for the McLame campaign.
Do you know he was the Anti-Drug coordinator for the Department of Justice, or that he was employed by the CIA from 1970-1978? That he voted for both the Patriot Act and the War in Iraq and that his PAC routinely gives money to Republicans running for office ... against Libertarians??
Did you listen to video? Barr traded his vote to get the sunset clauses put into the Patriot Act. If he just voted no like Paul, then there wouldn't have been a compromise in it to lessen the evils in the Patriot Act, and the Act would have passed overwhelmingly with just one more no vote.
Well, you do what you think is right. As for me, I'm voting for Ron Paul, even if I have to write his name on the ballot in the general election. Barr had his chance to do the right thing the first time. Ron Paul has done the right thing every time. So, who would you believe? You can't change the past, but you don't have to repeat it.
I intend to vote Ron Paul if he is in the ballot come November. If not, then Bob Barr is it. I won't write in a name (unless there is noone on the ballot that is acceptable, and Chuck Baldwin would be my 2nd choice after Barr)
"In 2001, Barr was the lead figure in the GOP-controlled House in pushing back against the PATRIOT Act, and ultimately suceeded in deleteing some text and forcing sunset clauses on the bill's worst provisions."
I doubt it... seems to me Barr just showed up at the last minute... why.. maybe the CFR is scared of Ron Paul and sent him in to get delegates from Ron Paul.. and weaken Ron Paul's position.. if Barr voted for the patriot act.. that proves it...
Seems Barr and Paul are a team.. either way we win.. Ron Paul supporters and Bob Barr .. seems like a win win situation.. now can you get rid of the diebold machines so we can have a real election...

What is up with libertarians talking about "pure"
Is it a party or a cult?
Mike Gravel WAS THE BEST CHOICE!
Bob Barr is a neo con
Mary Ruwart is a RADICAL!
George Phillies was the only other lp candidate that was decent.
Bob Barr was the author of DOMA.
Bob Barr voted for the patriot act.
Ron Paul talks... has done NO LEGISLATION!
Mike Gravel was the ONLY real cnadidate!

barr

So why do you support Bob Barr?
Magicguy15 2 years ago
the reason the libertarian party doesn't do as well is because of a lack of unity.
