Brown composed the Doll Dance, this Doll Rag is a variation to that theme.

did brown also compose the rag? why would somebody rag his own music? (well, probably because it sounds good)

This is not a rag variation of 'Doll Dance', nor a rag called 'Doll' but a song called 'Rag Doll' i.e. it is about a doll made out of cloth or rag. While the two tunes are similar in nature, the melodies are different Brown composed a number of songs about dolls.

yet I find the tunes very similar, the melody line doesn't vary that much from the Doll dance.
