This version of the Battlestar Galactica theme captures the moment of the series. Truly amazing theme, and very powerful. It gives you the full sense of the show. I didn't think there was a a Battlestar Galactica theme out there that could be on par with the original, I was wrong!
I just came to think about what I want to see in Blood & Chrome.
The creators have said that the war will partly be shown in news feeds around the 12 colonies on tv. I wan't to see colonial propaganda accompanied by this song while showing news feed of victories against the cylons!
Thought this version of the anthem sounded really good. It was true to the original version. Liked the original when I was a kid but the new version rocked all the way to end.
Wonderfull video... I like spirit of the shaking cameras...It makes it unique in light of other scifi like star wars... Also while watching this I have feeling that everything is under control and they know what they are doing... Because sometimes battles in series lookes little bit chaotic... Like : wow, how can this work? I dont know how to eplain this thought... maybe you know what am I talking about... anyway epic video :)

Must be a pretty bad feeling for the cylons while the 2 BS attacked the rebirthship. Dying in the first Cylon BS, getting reborn just to die again some seconds later.
Why in the names of all the gods Moore & Co. couldn't just have used this arrangement of the original theme to open the new show instead of that gawdawful keening is utterly beyond me. Thanks for posting this.
@OblivionsOathkeeper I know, I just have to cheer when it gets midway and the music really kicks in, to the scenes of Galactica and Pegases living up the title of 'Battlestar' and going in swinging against three basestars, kicking Toaster ass all the way to their God
It took me awhile to warm up to the new show. It was good and now that I look @ it again. I see bits and pieces of the old show in it.(Richard Hatch, Old Basehips & raiders, original score) The music score is way better than the old school version in my opinion. RDM did a great remake. Glad he didn't frak it up!
Nicely done. Also makes for a good LightWave 3D compilation. During the entire series, I only heard the original theme once. Was kind of hoping they'd use it for the last episode.
They did, and very appropriately. The shot of the Galactica flying the fleet into the Sun was accompanied by a brief version of this theme. I do agree the end credits could have used the entire version.
I agree that the old theme better suites BSG. I think the revised version kicks ass. I still dont know why the Frak they didnt have it as there central theme through out the new BSG...it sux!! Somethings are just best left alone. "So say we all! "
sci fi has been ruined forever for me already by my dad telling me there's no sound in space, and everytime you hear an explosion or some kind of sound effect is completely untrue =(
There might be a chance that after the explosions of the cylon warstars, the sound can travel through the compressed gas that leaks from the ships themselves, but we need a true scientist to confirm this.
one thing i liked in it was how the ships did not have to obey the laws of drage and all that stuff in space like othere shi fi moives make and you know what ones im talking about
yes i know but if you look at other shi fi moives like star trek and a few others they never do the stoff you see them do on BSG thats what im saying i love it because they show what you can realy do in space there was only one othere show that did the same thing that you see in BSG and that was Space Above and beyond old but good show
I like both series. The reimagined BSG had situations that can't be wrapped up neatly in one 1 - hour episode. The Original was too influenced by Star Wars & Lost in Space. The Centurions = Storm Troopers, Imperious Leader = Vader / Emperor, Lucifer / IL series Evil versions of C3P0. Both versions had plusses & minuses.
Not a bad thing to be influenced by one of the most popular movies ever.
I didnt like how in the new one the cylons looked like humans... mostly... they didnt give off that bad guy aura. Plus there was too much shaky camera and flashbacks for my liking ;/
If 9 / 11 hadn't happened, & they decided to do a remake of the series, chances are that BSG wouldn't have looked anything like it did in the re - make / re - imagining of the series. I liked the moral ambiguity, & shades of gray in the series, it also added some more depth to things. The " Shaky camera " / use of different angles gave it a cinema verite' look. A mastepiece ( IMHO ) !
I liked the way the space-shots were done in the style of a steady-cam, with the picture fuzzing up occationally, as if they had some poor guy in the space-suit floating out in the middle of a battle, giving it was I call the 'Live From Afaganistan' feel
I've only seen clips on Youtube, but I can tell the really zoomed out (thank you HDTV) combat-photographer-style camera moves during special effect sequences really improve the realism of the shots.
Love this! :) I think the movie "Airplane" spoofed this music. Am I right? Cause I remember this music in that movie towards the end. Anyway, LOVE the special effects of this show! It's AWESOME how the camera goes in and out at different angles during battle sequences.
Awesome vid. One of the things I loved about the Miniseries was the fact that they used the original theme as the National Anthem - gotta be one of the best pieces of music around, as a theme tune at least. :)
Actually the music to the Star Spangled Banner was not written by Francis Scott Key. Key just wrote the words in 1814 as part of a poem called "Defence of Ft McHenry". The music is to an older English song called To Anacreon in Heaven. And the SSB was not made the official Nat'l Anthem until Mar 3, 1931
The American National anthem wasn't chosen by George Washington it was writen durring the War of 1812 by Francis Scott Key while he was being held abord a british prisioner of war ship during the shelling of an American Fort
I love the Colonial Anthem/Battlestar Galactica theme, especially this version. When I first heard it, I thought, it's such an awesome rendition, and that the Battlestar Galactica saga is in good hands.
A great nod to the original show. Don't get me wrong, I like the 2003 version as much as the next person, but the original was where it was at.

yea most definatly.
I like the way it was gritty and grimey and dark throughout the entire 4 seasons.
It seemed more real, the acting was good and the effects were also great.
The way it played out more as a documentary at times i thought was also good.
Plus it had good messages in it!
I.E how the police and military should be kept seprate as the military fight the enemy, you dont want the people becoming that enemy.
