  • i must appreciate the algorithm (walking) behind it.good work.

  • AWESOME

  • after i watched this video Now these are the first slow movements using inverse kinematics and some simple lookup table for the walking sequence., my insight is very open because the video is very good to give information

  • I am very happy to see the vidoe Now these are the first slow movements using inverse kinematics and some simple lookup table for the walking sequence from you, hopefully the others also are happy for You

  • What kind of motors are those, and where do you get them?

And about how much did this cost to build?

  • haha. plankton from spongebob.

  • its always the legs thats scares me, just look at it :|

  • wow, the response is slow. be great if the accelerated

  • The legs seem a bit loose, though it does fit enough to allow motion as fluid as that. Nice job.

  • Respond to this video... this is insane, i dont doubt the creator fine tuned it by now

  • thats it, everyones screwed, im watching sumthing else, enjoy the resistance...

  • It would be better if you put rubber pieces under the tip of the leg.

  • Someone plays Unreal Tournament 2004 too much

  • @draga1807 Lol, wait what? I'm sure you just comment on my video? :/

  • kept waiting for it to step on its own cord....

  • build one with less legs, it will be easier to maneuver, and it will be faster

  • C walking spider

  • Nice when walking, a bit slow, you could make its steps less high on flat surface to speed it up. You need to move more legs at once while turning, one at a time it is really too slow when you have 8 :) Very nice job indeed

  • sorta looks like its humping..

  • Kinda scary, lol.

  • Good work. Can you make it silent? Eight legs, each having damping 'shoe' - which can in the same time provide feedback about surface information: hard surface, soft surface (i.e. rubber, or sand), etc. This feedback may provide also more smooth operation (walking) with less power consumption. Just a suggestions.

  • now we just need a guitar and the band is ready

  • @013dirtdiver better coordination and rythm than me xD

  • Glad I don't live in the apartment below it.

  • @marisg0411 You can build one yourself. All the parts are available on Thingyverse.

  • Its nice soo nice. What programming language did you use ?

  • @wackyLegends The controller uses a PIC cpu and is programmed in assembler. The main software is also my own development and written in C++ and FLTK for OS X, Windows, and Linux.

  • SHOOT IT! SHOOT IT!!!!

  • ArahnaTRON!!!

  • That's some Wild Wild West shit right there. Just needs some lazors

  • But will it blend?

  • Nice. Very Nice!

But you should use sysnthetic material for the feets for the legs,

so the legs aren't slipping away all the time :O But still nice work.

  • Scurry

  • Pure terror.

  • Awesome!!!

  • replicators they are here

  • gees that thing is just way creepy

  • @chickenmunchies112 Better question; metal?

  • unreal tournament 2004

  • Someone Kill it!!! Where's a shoe? Maybe get Shaq's shoe!

  • Unreal Tournament 2004, anybody?

  • With a dildo in the dead center, the inventor would be a celebrity to chicks...try to sell the idea to Trojan...

  • almost as creepy as a real spider... I HATE SPIDERS..

    Free the weed

  • @ omg dude that is awesome ! you made it yourself ? :O its really , really cool ..

  • if i saw this just walking around, i would shit myself

  • But will it blend ?

  • Anyone remember that Tom Selleck movie "Runaway?"

  • fukin nerds

  • Well, it can teabag :D

  • Man that is fucking cool!

The guy who said this thing is lame better be like fucking bill gates or something. I bet he couldn't draw the spider...

  • wow that's pretty sweet! I'd love to build robots like this one, been doing research the last couple of weeks and I'll probably start building next week

  • i think that the material for the legs is to weak and its can't react fast, it needs a stronger support and use less power for it to work in a bigger scale

  • i killed this thing in starfox

  • Maybe if you added something to the tips of the legs to help with the traction......it looks like it's almost slipping, might help with moving.......just a suggestion

  • thatt isnt even a real spider wat the hell how cn thatt be a spider

  • Looks like servos are underpowered for this robot... can it stay on 3 legs only?

  • @ADFRU08 Yes, that is correct. I planned the leg length based on the manufacturers data with some reserve. None of the servos reached the specs. It can stand on three legs, but it will quickly ruin the gearbox.

  • i want one

  • @Argon382 Build a better one and put the video online...

  • @Argon382 u're such a noob on this game named world, lol

  • @nobody8955 Idc get over it.

  • @Argon382 HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • @Argon382

Once you build anything and post the video you can talk shit, until then stuff it where it belongs..

  • @zenosxr Ok gosh sorry people. I take it back.

  • Now, control it to jump at people like the spiders in Arachnophobia.

  • this shadow of it is scary :/

  • lol slow tea-bag? 0:00 to 0:14

  • Can you control the direction where it walks?

  • @WadelDee Yes, it can walk in any direction. It uses inverse kinematics for its joints. You can move the body in six dimensions, and the tip of the feet will stay where they are. Or you move one foot and the body will follow, keeping the center of gravity over the center of all feet touching the ground.

  • You can find the complete plans on Thingyverse and build one yourself.

  • WTF OMG THIS IS SO AWESOME. I want one. can u buy these and if so…how much??¿?¿

  • Put rubber soles on the legs so that it walks a little faster and with less sound.

  • this walk like a drunk robot spider =3

  • Will it blend :o?

  • Comment removed

  • I HAVE ONE OF THOSE THEY COST A LOOOT

  • @SuperTenazMusica what a waste of money then -.-'

  • It's doing squats in the first part

  • jajaja parece una araña bailando

  • I have nightmares about this thing silently sneaking up behind me. CLOP CLOP CLOP CLOP

  • Awesome job but too much effort, power, and energy is being put into complex modes of locomotion. Simplicity is elegance. Too much power is used with the use of legs.

  • cool

  • why is it teabagging the table

  • @ax3star lol floor?

  • Класс!)))

  • so cute!!

  • tap dancing machine

  • Now all thats needed is a dildo on top and it will sell for millions as a sex toy...we.ll call it the crabinator!

  • thats. thats pretty fuckin cool. just seems a tad slow

  • bravo my friend

  • you should walk with the robot on carpet cause it doesn't really have grip on a wood floor

  • I GOTTA BUY ONE OF THOSE!!!

  • new sex toy????? :P

  • @chickenmunchies112 Absolutely!

  • i....<3.....this....so....much....

  • Send in some hillbillies to kill it.

  • Odd

  • lol dissordered spider

  • That's pretty awesome. On a side note, you're wife is going to kill you for what that thing will do to a nice wood floor ;)

  • lol if you close your eyes while it is moving around/walking, it sounds like someone is doing a bad job playing the drum in a band!

  • This is a beautiful creation, you should be proud mate, not everyone could pull this off

  • It's a good design, rubbery feet would be good cos it slips

  • would be a nice headcrab

  • Reminded me of ocean-floor crab, nice design :)

  • that thing looks like the spider from movie wild wild west

  • cool robot!

  • just mount a couple chainsaws, to teeth...

  • I'm gonna need a bigger shoe......

  • that is amazing.. too bad i't doesn't walk like my spider =P good job tho

  • he can move only one leg at the time?

  • You should add some tiny bits of rubber to each leg ...its cool but it seems to be stuggling on the surface its on

  • I'd get some soft rubber feet and try to sync better on the turn (get more than one leg in motion at a time)

  • Impressive work, the robot is sliding all over hte place though, needs some sort of feet.

  • paracemovimento de dança hehehe o sapatiado

  • nice

  • Impressive.

  • If you want it to walk right..... put four down and four up at a time. Just like us... except times four. The four in the up position all move in one direction and then come down. Then the other four are lifted and are moved in the same direction and put down.Repeat.......... I gotta say... this is very, very cool and I can see it took a lot of work. Nice job!

  • I like the fact that it moves very fluid and natural very life like, not all robotic like in shit like other creations ive seen out there!! AWESOME!!

  • hey its dancing!!

  • put some skin on that thing, then let me barrow it, and scare my mom whens she in the shower! lol

  • mach es schneller, setz dem teil ne kanone aufn kopf, verkaufs anne bundeswehr

  • LMAO

  • the dance to spider

  • Im going to need a bigger shoe.lol

  • 0:01-0:19 PELVIC THRUSTS

  • the first thing that comes to mind is girl pleasurer

  • awww god, this is going to gice me nightmares

  • may i ask what motors are you using to control the movement of the spider?

  • @ff11r Sure. These are relatively standard R/C servos, except with metal gears and "high torque"

"The servos are Dymond D8500. They are just powerful enough, but not really made for this high load. The gears are likely to stick after a while of abuse. OTOH, they were relatively cheap for the available torque. I don't tink that they are still available anywhere though."

  • @quadraturencoder thanks man, just checking, i was trying to look for some small servos but they all seem to be pretty big.

are you using an arm processor?

  • @quadraturencoder METAL GEARS!!! IT CAN'T BE!!!

  • @RazielGardel solid ones

  • they need to send a robot spider to mars to explore any caves they find there

  • LOL ITS LOUD WHEN WALKING

  • thats awsom

  • I was half-expecting to use small leaps for movement, similar to other spiders.

  • it looks really pathetic wen it walks lol

  • very slow but wonderfull

  • WoW

  • i´ve got a question it looks like the movements of a centipede one leg after another did you want to copy it or was it just random?

  • @psycho2061 The one-at-a-time sequence is pretty much the simplest possible. Later in the video, it also lifts two at a time. Some generic function based on the discovered terrain would be much better, of course.

  • wow

  • I have no idea how long this took to make but teaming up with other enthusiasts and giving them separate assignments in the project could help speed up the development process.

  • @joroma77 Well, that's on reason I put the plans and assembly instructions on Thingyverse. If anyone likes to have a jump-start, they can copy what I did already. I am hoping to get feedback if they do though ;-)

  • wow, look at that thing go! :P

  • sex toy

  • You Suck Dick Man

  • May I suggest adding little rubber feet to each of the legs?

    Cool robot, though. :)

  • Dieing spider, who can only move one leg at a time. xD

  • The mechanics are all there, it seems the programming is at a pretty early stage. Still quite a nice work, it seems to physically have huge potential for traversing terrain etc.

  • i wish i was born like that only with more animation

  • how to make such things?

    ?/

  • prop to you, cause that must of been tough to get together

  • @krogerpimp Thanks, yes, it took a few nights to assemble. The biggest problem was with the stability of the legs. I had to come up with some diagonals that could be inserted after all legs had been assembled.

  • HIT IT! HIT IT WITH A STICK! D:

  • Amazing, how did you ever overcome the problem of leg sycranisation!? Every time I see another 8 leg, it has trouble becauase the legs are overloading the command modual

  • click click click... aww his first stepps

  • IT'S GOING TO KILL US ALL! WE ARE DOOMED! :D

  • when i heard this i thought there was a marching band outside my window

    lol

  • LOL its teabagging the ground

  • This is beautiful. Please tell me you are still working on these? AWESOME.

  • @NeonString My job keeps me too busy, but I will get back to this hopefully before the end of the year. I have tons of new ideas for software, hardware and design.

  • make one that looks like the one in Wild Wild West (that movie with Will Smith) :D

And make it shoot fireballs for real! (like, have a little sparker and add a can of flammable aerosol with a little servo to control the valve, test the fire breathing rig separately, and even after testing, while the thing is working, stay behind bullet proof stuff in case the flame reaches back inside the can and the whole thing blows up like a frag grenade)

  • Just a suggestion, you should give it a microphone and a little more AI and see if you can't make it walk in time to music ^^

  • @KooKas2oo8 Nice idea.

  • This is a waste of time. Where is the Time Travel and Space Invaders ???

  • This reminds me of a design of mine or an Idea I had of designing a hand sized robotic spider like this one that recognizes by shape and size "Rodents" injects them with a poisoned dart and drags the carcass away for disposal! Would make Billions if you could come up with a practical use for it like this!

  • I'm guessing you made that yourself. Impressive.

  • @ItchyFlea1 Thanks. The plans are on Thingiverse , thing 585

  • Well done!

  • thats really cool

  • Awesome! Rubber grips on the feet may help it gain more traction. Incredible, though I do hate spiders.

  • Nice! ^^
