Looking back, I wish we fought out the Viet Nam war. I know most people will hate me for this...but I just feel so ashamed when I see all the brutality that the Viet Cong committed after the Fall of Saigon. So many innocent lives that could have been saved. If only we could have brought freedom to Communist Vietnam.
Can somebody get a sample of this guy's DNA so that at least one of our Senators can get a DNA change and raise a filibuster on this bloody war-turned-occupation on Iraq? And God, please don't drag us further into Afghanistan and Pakistan !
no dude fillibusters have to now be accepted by 2/3 of the whole senate or house.... they passed that law. the republicans tried to get rid of it all together. back in the day you only needed one person...
CNN has now excluded Gravel from their debates in November. I am so sick of the left. We were handed two candidates on a silver platter (Kucinich/Gravel)and the people flock to Clinton as if she were the second coming of Christ.
that's deep. really deep. why don't we have this same emotion in america with this war? because there's no draft and everyone seems distant from the affects of war.
The Vietnam war was actually covered by the media in the 60s. Evening after evening was filled with images from the war of American soldiers injured and dying and there was a body count. Today's media doesn't cover the war. The President doesn't acknowledge the dead. Out of sight, out of mind. The National Initiative will also help to organize people...something else that is feared by those in power.
Then, as now, we don't have the organizational ability to counter what the powerful are doing. I believe that's why Mike Gravel developed the National Initiative. Like you, I want an end to unnecessary enemies and warfare. It is destructive to human life and our planet, impoverishes many and enriches the very few.
the united states provides more than enough oppurtunity to engage in political activism. get off your ass and take responsibility. join a party, form another one. whatever. everyone bitches and moans but no one wants to make sacrafices.

MIKE'S REVISED BOOK "CITIZEN POWER" WILL BE AVAILABLE IN TWO WEEKS ONLINE FOR FREE!!!!!
And if possible, make a donation because Mike went broke to make this campaign run. If you don't know anything about Mike, please inform yourself! He's doing this for you and the world, to bring REAL truth & REAL change to Washington! He swears to bring peace in the middle east!!!!
Just sent in $50 and will continue to do so. Thanks for posting this.....they need to post all of the video from that filibuster. Well done, Mr. Gravel.
Thank you for doing that! I did, too. It's Mr. Gravel, his family, supporters and sustaining money that keeps the truth going forward with the possibility of 180 degree change. (I can't see a way for us to have real change without the truth. It takes great bravery. I want us to leave our children a world where truth is as commonplace as lies now are and power is used for good not evil.)
Or you can contribute your time and effort as I have been doing... money is spent on resources and if the people provide the resources, the money is less important! Either way, thanks for your efforts.

I remember being a kid watching the pictures of those horrors night after night.
Even with those horrific images, much of middle America supported the war for a long time.
WHY? The same fear-mongering crap we see now.

Aw, good on him! You can't do this anymore, the senate usually force a cloture vote as soon as the threat of filibustering comes up.

yes, however gravel knows that you never let this pass. You come again and again, do not give up.
