@iwasanangryyoungman - i see your point! keep in mind...there was also another video game character with the same name who had his own cartoon series as well! there are so many characters who share the same name as other well-known fictional characters we all know and love growing up! I particular did not like space ace being included in the space stars line-up! he was more of a comic-relief compared to space ghost, teen force, and the herculoids! space ace should of had his own separate series!
@iwasanangryyoungman - the team at hanna-barbera probably didn't know about the name - 'space ace' - being already taken at the time of the show's release! there was also another video-game cartoon hero named 'space ace' being used later on in the 80's era of cartoons!!!
@LordArithon - yeah, i know what you mean! this is how saturday morning cartoons are suppose to look and feel like! they don't make em like this anymore!
@onemisterd They haven't made Saturday morning cartoons worth while for over 15 years...it's sad that the kids these days will have no idea what it is like to wake up with excitement early Saturday morning and enjoy themselves till lunch time with adventure and great stories.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of this cartoon...it would be nice if WB through its Warner Archive division released it..since it's a rare show that lasted only one season and the last time it was seen in its entirety was on USA's Cartton Express in the 90's. The only Hanna Barbera cartoon that enjoyed great success was the Smurfs that season on NBC, which was co-produced with Sepp SA.
I Have all 11-one hour of space stars from studio masters complete&uncut with original commercials, comes with 14-bonus dvds of 80s cartoons with original commercials.20-dvds total!email for info.
@kmcl11 Kay I giving u a chance not to contact me or send me emails,Or put my business out here on Youtube. If you contact me I will go the the police and if I have the the FBI. You've been warned.
@kmcl11 Kay do you really wanna try me. You don't have any ideal who your messing with. You don't know who I know. You know there are laws for people doing what your doing. Is going to jail worth it? If you don't agree say you disagree.Don't follow me around youtube. Put up your own vid's. People like yourself love to start shit, but run and hide when people standup to folks like yourself.
@harveysuperboy There are no laws. You are terribly paranoid. All of our vids are about complaining and racism. You don't scare me. I am an not the runner. You are from your own behavior.
This show consisted of 4 new animated segments of Space Ghost (with a remodeled Phantom Cruiser), The Herculoids, The Teen Force (new), and Astro & The Space Mutts (new) that tied into the "Space Stars Finale", where Space Ghost or The Herculoids teamed-up with The Teen Force to help them battle Uglor.
*The best episode of this series is "SPACE SPECTRE" in which Space Ghost meets his evil duplicate counterpart from a parallel universe, much like Star Trek's "Mirror, Mirror" episode.
Exactly, as this was replaced by a new series of The Jetsons that introduced "Orbity" (now commonly known as "The Jetsons, season 2" even though they were nearly 20 years apart).
@artytoons@kempmt1 Actually it was Ted Nichols who did the score. Nichols tended to use electronica (theramins and the like) while Hoyt Curtain was a brass man. Still I would pay good money to attend a concert featuring the music of both.
The "Space Stars" series reused a lot of "Super Friends" stock music cues as well. Hoyt Curtin composed many "Super Friends" themes and background music.
Paul DeKorte also composed some Hanna-Barbera music cues in the 1970s until his death in 1985.
Man I loved these classic shows. It brings a tear to my eye because you will never again see quality shows like this again. Kids of today have been ripped off by dimwitted television execs who feel fart jokes, bad animation, and more CGIng of classics are what kids want to see.
I'm 34 and I can tell you there was a time when cartoons had substance, story lines, and were absolutely fun to watch. Getting up just before 6am on Saturday to watch cartoons is something I will always cherish.
Can we get new series featuring these characters? Update them, something. Hanna Barbara has been lacking in the cartoon department for years now. The last good thing they did was Samurai Jack.
Thanks, I haven't seen this intro since the last episode aired in the ealry 80s ... brings back feeling of wanting to go get a bowl of cereal and then later head to the arcade to play Vanguard or Cosmic Avenger.
Come on, Warner Brothers. What are you waiting for? Release this show on DVD. You could at least release the Space Ghost and Herculoids segments, but the whole series would be better.
No they were a teenage team who mainly fought Uglor. (The winged gorilla who fired lasers) He was used against Space Ghost & the Herculoids too. They were Kid Comet, Electra and Molecule Lad.
The narrator voice sounds like Green Lantern from Super Friends.

Space Ace? With Dynomutt rip-offs the Space Mutts? Good thing Tatsunoko didn't sue them for ripping off their own Space Ace character
