  • Very helpful, Thanks

  • Check out the demo video of the WIND JACKET for the Zoom recorder at the WindCutter YouTube channel. They are amazingly effective at preventing wind noise when recording outdoors.

  • What about playback? I recorded my file, but when I play it back I cannot hear what I have previously recorded.

  • Thank you this was really helpful

  • Hello, Thanks for this. Pardon my ignorance. Question. When you say "Confirm", what do you mean? is there a "Confirm" button?

  • can you record 4 channels with 2 channels coming from internal mic and the other 2 channels from an external input?

  • You have a very calming and professional voice :)

  • This is a really useful and clear video for anyone like me who needs to use the H2 for interviews. Thanks!

  • so the h2 can record audio by itself, i want ot get a 60d with a rode videomic and record wit hthose together, the have a sound guy with the h2 recording anything that the rode missed. can i do that or does the h2 need to be connected to the camera, and can i put a boom mic into the h2and record with those 2 together? finally is there any way to put a headset into the h2, so my sound guy can hear whats going on while recording and if he hears something bad we can restart?

  • great tutorial.. short simple and too the point.. thankyou.

  • how to set up to record for long periods of time? ..it's MP3 mode? anybody kind..plsss...

  • thanks, very good instructions

  • THANKS GREAT VIDEO!

  • Very good and thorough tutorial. Thank you! Seems very easy to use. I am considering using this for interviews.

  • Here is an example of piano recording:

  • If ur using the h2 for recording your music could you make tracks with the h2 please let me know and how will apreciate if someone answers back thanx

  • @013CHAVEZ You would need to get a program such as Qbass if you wanted to add tracks to your computer that you can constantly add more and more things to, i have recorded atleast an hour and a half of songs on there but it will never be perfect as you can't record singing or music seperately

  • @013CHAVEZ I'm not sure if you already got it, but if your doing music recordings, get the H4n

  • @BradD1227 Sure, but this one is pretty good and cheaper. See what it can do with a piano:

    /watch?v=iZDn9Ne-HmI

  • Excellent video. Thanks for going slow.

  • Question? can you use that recorder as a mic to use with Garageband straight?

  • @matute666 I would advise to hold it atleast 3 to 4 feet from you if you are singing loud as it has really good pickups.

  • Is the Zoom H2 chargeable? Or does it only rely on batteries to live?

  • shes putting me to sleep but thanxz for info

  • It's Samson...not Samsung...FYI

  • I was watching people talk about this and they complained so much... saying things like it's hard to use, feels like a kids toy and the sound recording quality is ok, i just bought this. I read for about 5 minutes learned how to use it all, tried recording it sounds perfect and it is light easy to carry around. This piece of art i bought for $240 and i can easily say it is better then a friend i knows recording device which he payed $900 for. Very very good machine!

  • how do i turn it off? seriously.

  • @blahblahchachacha you must have been trying to usb it to your computer(the wrong way) and it froze. the only way then is to peel out 1of the batteries and then put it back to clear the memory(somewhat re-boot it) it will not hurt it,but next time follow the instructions to the letter and just start over ok? i did the same thing don't feel so bad

  • How do you record 2 things ??

So you've got one something recordered, and you'll record an another thing together. How do you do that..

  • great !!

  • I love my H2. This thing is brilliant. Check out my channel to hear a 12 string recorded with it.

  • What are you using your Zoom h2 for? Interviews, soundeffects?

  • 1. is the cable proprietary, or can you use most usb cables out there?

    2. compatible with vista 64x ?

    3. does it have folders, and how many of them are there in the device?

    4. How much space in GB is there in the device? Is it compatible with SD cards?

    5. do you sell it in canada, or ship to canada? Or give me some popular Canadian online music equipment stores.

    THANK YOU ;)

  • Very informative! Thank you. I'm waiting for mine to show up in the mail and I'm very excited! Regarding the questions below, my guess is, this device doesn't have an external speaker, so you must use the earbuds or a regular set of headphones to listen to the playback. Can anyone verify?

  • Hope someone can help. --I'm getting everything to work except hearing the playback. The trouble-shooting part in the book says turn up the sound, but that doesn''t make any difference. It must be something simple I'm missing.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

  • I'm having the same problem and can't figure it out. I can hear the playback with headphones, but not without.

  • Very informative. Thank you.

  • I'm getting everything to work except hearing the playback. It must be something simple I'm missing. The troubleshooting part in the book says to turn up the sound but that doesn't make any difference. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help.

  • There is no speaker on the unit...you must use your headphones.

  • Is is better to use AGC (automatic gain control) and put it on 'speech' when using the Zoom H2 for interviews.

  • Thanks very much for the video and all the responses. This has been most helpful because I've just ordered a unit.

    :-)

  • if you made a beat online and you wanted to record the beat AND your voice at the same time with that recorder, would it sound just as clear as it would as any song you'd hear on the radio or whatever??

  • it looks like you're holding in your hand the whole time and i didnt' hear any "handheld noises"

are you holding it carefully and editing out the noise? or is there no handheld noise?

  • Very nicely done! Thank you!

  • Still learning to use mine, but this helps with understanding settings.

  • lols. You turn on the device by pressing the power button... duh.

  • The 128 Kbps advice is absolutely right. You'll get about 17 hours of recording (keep an extra set of AAs for sessions longer than 2 hours.)

But if you use this for live music in a club or hall, don't use the high gain, and don't set the mike level too high, or you'll get painfully distorted sound. (But this seems like too much recorder for interviews.)

But once you're used to it, it's a fabulous machine.

  • The 128 Kbps setting advice is right on the money. A 2 MB card will gives over 14 hours of recording time. But for live music in a club or hall, don't use high gain, or set the mikes too loud, or you'll have painfully distorted sound.

Keep a spare set of fresh AAs around for recording sessions longer than 2 hours.

PS. My instructions for the unit said to do the file transfers with the H2 turned off (it still connects beautifully, and transfers down to disc just fine).

  • There is a peak limiter that will keep the input levels from distorting...I smuggled mine into a few metal shows and got wonderful results...great as a microphone for a HD camcorder.

  • Very good:) Tanks for the info......It helped a lot:)

  • i found this video informative, im waiting for mine to arrive its nice to have some info. thank you.

  • This is good. But I would also recommend setting the MP3 compression level to 128Kbps. It makes it easier to edit later even if the actual result is put out in something like 48Kbps. It might also be a good idea to set the compression to ACG2 instead of the high gain.
