all i know is this is some real bullshit. I never remember leaving my room. All i remember is getting druged so the staff can sit on there ass and f#%k all day. And if u say anything they will shot a needel in ur ass then throw in a time out room and for 8 hours made of only brick and one little window with cold steal bars. And thats if they dont forget about u or foget to tell the next shift that ur in there. If that happens ur lucky to get out after 2 days. They treated us kids like shit.
What year was this Orientation! My Friend's Dad's Little girl had to go to this State Hospital. She couldn't talk. Almost jumped off a building in Hollywood hotel. she was there from 5 to 26 years old!
The orientation video was shot sometime between 1981 and 1985. I am not certain of exact year. From the population descriptions and the way some areas are utilized I think it is probably near or in 84. I got the video from an old acquaintence who worked in the same general area of Cam as I did throughout those years
@camarillohosp these videos are a trip. I worked there as a psych tech from 84-89. I think this video is older than 84. I was in psych tech school in 84 and there are thing in the video that look older than i remember. i would say the video is somewhere in the 70s. when did you work there? what unit? i worked on 41 and 86
Yep - you got it. We were there after a spring storm, and the wind was moaning and shrieking like something possessed. Wheelchairs all over the place. Heat and humidity and stillness, then *shit* what the hell was that??
I kicked myself for months after for not remembering the camera.
You should have seen this place after the State left, and before CSU took over. Except for a skeleton security team, the hospital was deserted, its rooms empty. A friend and I, curious to finally see the inside of this much misunderstood and feared spot, made three successful forays into the belly of this great beast, and I still have dreams about it today. The lights were out, and the heating system was acting up all three nights we were in there -- until I got used to it I was so jumpy....
wow.....I miss cam state hosp! I lived in the employee housing as a kid. My dad was a cop there!
