It is a great film and should be seen by everyone! Also, USA Today has had articles regarding autism. One of the articles is very interesting. According to USA Today, there has been research which has found a high incidence of autism in families that also have a history of autoimmune disorders.
What sinmantyx said. There is simply an increase in knowledge about the spectrum and there are diseases that imitate the spectrum. It is now known that Jenny McCarthy's own son was not autistic; look it up.

In a previous post I said there are a large number of doctors who do believe there is a connection between vaccines and autism. I do not believe that blogs are a good source for facts. And the ASA and other autism organizations have provided the public with the statistics of the dramatic rise in autism in the past 25 years. And, please, investigate the Hannah Poling case.
You people bitching about how dumb Jenny is or how celebrities are idiots ect ect. Stop drinking the kool-ade and open you eyes. We are being murdered by our goverment, they have been at it for years, now they are just taking us out younger so it gets mor attention. RESEARCH the affects of Flouride then ask yourself why its in your tap water and vitamins and minerals AREN'T. Start there.
It is true that neither internet blogs, celebrities or videos on Youtube are primary sources for reliable scientific information. But it is important to consider all of the complaints that parents have regarding their problems with raising an autistic child. All communities have these parents and their children and should be aware of the harsh realities they face. And please examine the facts regarding the Hannah Poling case.
Let me guess; the government is intentionally making vaccines nothing but toxins. Go back to wearing your tinfoil hat. While a government conspiracy is possible, how could there be a genocide when vaccines are not killing thousands of people?
i'll admit i am ill equipped to argue for my beliefs in the matter, i was reacting to your satatment about not seeing "thousands" dead because of the vaccines.
my point was the way the present the numbers may be intiontionally misleading.
Do you know what the life expectancy is for a child diagnosed with Autism? Do you know what hell that life will be for them and their family?
I have a 33 year old sister who has the speech skills of a two year old. My four year old nephew will sit and look after her at times and try and get her to converse.
It doesn't translate into thousands effected by vaccines, because vaccines don't cause Autism.
Autism research is now been given more funding - and rightly so. I just wish the big name people like Jenny wouldn't be so stupid and pretend that they speak for all parents with Autistic children. She is harming the legitimacy of groups that are concerned about Autism rates and diverting research money from much needed studies to further vaccination-link studies that are unneeded.
The controversy of whether vaccines cause autism has been around for a very long time. It is a failure of the medical establishment, the CDC and the pharmaceutical companies to clearly and convincingly describe to the public exactly how vaccines do not cause autism. The inability, or reluctance, to educate the patient, in this case, the parents, as to precisely how they have nothing to fear with vaccination, is probably the heart of this controversy.
There are a lot of families that have evidence that there children became autistic immediately after vaccination. The Poling family settled a case out of court that clearly indicated that vaccines have caused autism. But the judge was very careful in explaining that it was only responsible in this particular case. And this is also a clear indication of all of the fears regarding liability in this case. While it may be true that childhood vaccination may save lives, it comes a cost.
A relatively small percentage of children who are getting vaccinated will become autistic. Exactly why they are becoming autistic is being clouded by those parties who have the most to loose as a result of legal liability. These autistic children are the collateral damage that is the result of vaccination. As cruel as this fact is, it is the reason that the experts, that is, the doctors and the CDC, do not really want to cast any doubt on the safety of the vaccination program.
In their purely scientific reasoning, it would be better to ignore the relationship between vaccinations and autism, than to frighten all the parents in the country who might then not get their children vaccinated. These same experts believe that it is far less worse for the population to suffer a few autistic children than to risk an outbreak of epidemics that they say would cause a huge number of deaths.
But when you are the parent of an autistic child, when you are the one parent in one hundred and fifty that has to raise an autistic child, the collateral damage theory is tough to accept. And there is very little money available for the families of autistic children. Most parents whose children are diagnosed with autism, usually divorce.
So before you think all of this talk about the relationship between autism and vaccinations is being fabricated so the parents of autistic children have someone to blame, or they are looking for easy money, check out the Poling family. And ask yourself a couple of questions. Such as: Do doctors always tell the truth? And is there such a thing as a medication that doesn't have a side effect?
I know I won't convince you. Epidemiology is my field. Here is the truth: We eat processed foods, smoke, drink, take legal and illegal drugs even during pregnandy, have many sex partners, have children into our 40's and blame vaccines when we have an autistic child. Amish have none of these risk factors. Vaccines are needed when diseased people tightly congregate in cities. If we lived like the Amish, we would have few diseases, would not need vaccines, and would not have autistic babies

i know people of over 40 still being diagnosed.
at any rate, diagnostics have only been around for 30-35 years and they havent become "popular" untill about 10 years ago.
i know this because i have a fairly obvious case, minus the flapping, rocking, etc. oh and i do on occasion understand what others mean.
that is why i wasnt diagnosed untill 16, im 24 now.

What about the Hannah Poling case?
That case does not prove that autism and vaccines have a link.
novella101 2 years ago
One possible very reason is that mild autism such as AS have been included as ASDs.

There are a few difficulties with raising autistic children but raising children in general is a difficult task for anyone.
aspie101 2 years ago
Hannah Poling gained "autism-like" symptoms because she got a fever and had mitochondrial disease.
My son has "autism-like" symptoms because we got hit by a Chevy Tahoe, that doesn't mean there is a link between Chevy Tohoes and autism.

so 1 child in 150 does not translate into thousands effectted?
now out of the 1 in 150 let's count those who actaully die... well lets call it..... 5 in 150 of the effectted....
yup in a country of 1 billion it still translated into THOUSANDS dead.
but 1 in 150 sounds nearly like it will never touch you doesn tit?

no, just a very life-cripling one. oh right, that makes it all better,
jinx83pl 2 years ago
It doesn't cripple lives, just social interactions and some life skills. Both can be managed by dicipline and instruction.
aspie101 2 years ago
autsim life crippeling?
its only crippeling to the people close to the person with autism.
to the person with autism, life is just that, life.
honouystly, why cant people just leave us be? us having autism oftenly doesnt bother us too much, as were not used to anything else.
