HELP: would a padi open water qualification help me get in atall? and what is the applicant:job ratio, i.e. haw hard is it to get in assuming i'm fit enough?
Just wondering because i wouldn't imagine that there is very high demand for mine clearance divers, but i'm seriously considering it. :)
alright mate. i've considering branch transfering and one of the options i've been given is RN Diver. How much phys does the course contaIn and how fit should you be before trying for initial selection? Cheers
you're SO fucking stupid. Guess who's economy is far stronger? I find that funny because America's major currency intake is through the stock market.
Did you know that America was a penal colony during early settlement? meaning that YOU were the trash that England did not want on their land. Enjoy Your independence that you got through the help of the french. Which is a massive fail because you didn't even achieve independence on your OWN
@Ultimagnet im tired of all the people saying america sucks this and that, i agree the stock market is bad and everything, but if america is not even affecting you, why bring up the subject i mean i'm american does that make me a bad person? just saying that when you say that your implying that all americans are horrible...
So the Royal Navy don't have ground troops, how do you explain the Royal Marines? One of the best fighting services in the world. Your making an arse of yourself i advise you shut up before you totally fuck yourself up, yes?
dude, the nave have the royal marine commandos, troops deployed from ships. and recognised as one of the best fighting forces in the world. correct me if im wrong. and i may be. but wernt the navy seals were based around the royal marines?
@bigasspanda you are completely right. I am doing my certificate of the watch at the moment, and am almost done on the long path of becoming a warfare officer
@middlevin u fuckin dipshit haha the rn no ground troops lmao so u never heard of royal marines sbs and navy medics ur real twat u just made america look stupid lol
Is that in Loch Fyne? The perishers stomping ground? I did a course at HMS Vernon way back in time so that we would be compatible with the RN on clearance duties. SSBN-631 was my duty ship at the time. Loch Fyne and Loch Long were our final work-up areas. Two SBS guys drowned doing tower exits on that shift.
Oh yeah, on the SBS guys, sure was a shame at the time. Oxygen toxicity claimed them, we were on rebreathers but they simply fucked it up..Training,eh?
@middlevin USA is always below England??? lol The british Forces would use your troops as puppets if they wanted to all you pussys have is nukes thats why u fat ass yanks are always gobbing of because you know if theres war you will just nuke
Hi there, i am thinking about joining the mine clearance training course in the UK with the RN. Is it a good course? I have some recreational diving experience and i am trained to dive to 40 metres. Thanks for any advice!
hey man i wanna do the same but when i went to the recruiting office the guy said theres a 2 year waiting list. as its uber popular and a very small division. if anyone knows differently please tell me lol.
not a lot of people get through unfortunately, the course is VERY hard... ive just applied for ground defence officer, so i am quite excited, but if your into diving, just become a reservist and do the naval diver course.
Look guys i know a load of good lads all ex RN clearance divers, a few got a short term job when they de-mobbed Rock Hopping inshore off the kent coast. Yes one guy has a successful Diving company, but if ya wanna earn you need to do the Sat diving on rigs and the RN don't do that. Y PS Nip down to Temeraire and tell them your views, Ha
was thinking of transferring over from the royal marines, would i have to go through a bog standrd up at 5.30 and get thrashed all day course such as the commando course again?? do you get civi qualifications? cheers for any input
u would be going through the standard diving course which means ull b up at 7ish and arriving at the island at 8. ull finish 4 mon/wed/fri, and ull b night diving on tues/thurs. day consists of alot of phys and alot of diving as u expect. ull also be going away a few time while on the 6month course. hope that helps.
u can convert ur diving course to civvy quals but ull have to do that urself. doesnt cost much thought. i think it converts to btec rescue diver or something near that. hope that helps.
i can see where you coming from, but people are generally aware of the risk, we all watch the news...it just doesnt really register in their minds untill the danger is clear to see.
Its easy to have that attitude but maybe the poor guy who spends the rest of his life in a wheelchair with requring 24hr a day care assistance may see it differently. Imagine needing care for the rest of you're life from a young age. This has happened to many people through this stupid illegal war
wow i never realised navy divers kept it all a secret. where did you find this information out? have you told any one? or is it just the voices in your head again? the navy divers i have met have been fit hansome and suntanned, no injuries at all. odd.
fayik125, for god sake you can get injured putting on your trousers in the morning. people know what they are getting into. besides, no danger = no fun
how often have naval craft been struck by naval mines or remote controlled watermines lately. they never mention this kind of thing in the media. IT obviously goes on. In general do personel get injured often by mine strikes
alrite looks good im lookin at goin in like an jsut out of curiousty i no you have to be extremely fit to get in but how cum u must have so much upper body strenght. thanks.
its a hard course with lots of upperbody work. make sure u can pull ur own weight, ur gonna need 2. good luck with it and dont give up what every they throw at u.
