  • i love hes holding the pick in his mouth the whole time hahahaa

  • tabs?

  • @MsCellolad To be fair I prefer it this way, partly because the original has harmony on practically the same volume as the melody.

  • LOVING THIS!!! I've never seen anything like it! I'm a guitar freak and was just wondering...what model guitar is that?! It sounds magical...

  • D A E G# A E

  • I need these tabs... Does anyone know where I can find them?

  • I have to say this is one of my favourites from Antoine, the melody and overall vibe is so relaxing and meditative. I'm a big fan of percussive techniques but sometimes raw melody with finger picking soothes the soul like nothing else.

  • I pressed subscribe after 4 seconds

  • Commitment: Going in to shake Antoine's hand and realizing his fingernails...

  • For the record, I thought it was a great arrangement, but I thought Antoine could have brought out the melody a bit more. Peace

  • Whenever I hear this I feel like I can hear Imogen's voice echoing along with it in my head.

  • 3:46 has the most beautiful harmonics ever. This song is gorgeous.

  • Genious, just pure genious.

It's me and my girlfriends song kind of. It's better than the original.

  • this was....awesome...makes me want to be great at something...anything...thank you

  • The most perfect acoustic guitar tones I have ever heard.

  • dear candyrat records:

protecting your recordings from piracy i can understand because obviously that's where all the work is and how the musicians make money. selling the sheet music/tabs on your website makes sense too. but banning sites like UG from posting the tabs is a total dick move. tabs should be freely available and i can't believe the hypocrisy that a small record label is being so unreasonable when even the biggest and greediest let their tabs be posted freely.

  • @dm9910 There is no hypocrisy. It's no different than band shirts or any other merchandise. It's their property to do as they please. If you don't want to spend money on tabs, make do with your eyes and ears. Countless have managed just fine without tabs.

  • @EpicDJTime music is for sharing, that's the whole point of releasing songs. going against that just for some extra cash is just wrong. it's not like candyrat made the tabs for UG, someone at home sat down and transcribed it only to be censored. it's not the lack of available tabs that bothers me - it's the fact that there ARE but i can't use them because of a BS copyright claim. and 9.99 for 2 songs is daylight robbery.

and what makes it more offensive is that it's not even an original song.

  • @dm9910 Music is for enjoyment. Sharing is up to the creator. Whether or not it's an original song is irrelevant. He composed it in this fashion. Like i said, if it's such a big deal use your ears and eyes. I dont want to spend ten bucks on tabs. So i sit down to a Youtube video and learn via that.

  • @EpicDJTime he didn't write this music, he just listened to the original and converted it to acoustic guitar. which is exactly what the contributers at UG did: they listened to this version of the song and converted it to a guitar tab. they're no less original than he was with this. if nobody had tabbed it that would be fine - i have no problem with working it out. it's the fact that they went out of their way to stop tabs

it's against the general cameraderie of guitar players if you ask me.

  • @dm9910 Look. It doesn't matter what you think. For all you know Antoine got permission to compose this. The fact is he did write this guitar piece and he deserves to make his money from it. If you have no problem with learning by ear then you have nothing to complain about. As i said before, music is about enjoyment. Not here's all my intellectual property, everyone take it for free. Just be happy Candyrat is doing what they do.

  • @EpicDJTime he may have gotten permission, but he could have returned the favour to the rest of us. he does deserve to make money from it - by selling albums and gig tickets.

i do have something to complain about. if there isn't a tab available and i work it out, i teach it to others and post up the tabs for everyone else. i can't even do that, because of this BS.

happy that candyrat is selling for 9.99 what i could get for £1.58 (2 mp3s from itunes + free tabs) from any other artist??

  • @dm9910 He could have, he's not obligated to. He deserves to make money from it. in any way him or his label see fit.

Because it's not your right to put it out there.

No happy that Candyrat is making an effort to keep great music readily available for anyone who wants to listen.

You're opinion is shit. Whine somewhere else about having buy tabs.

  • @dm9910 Actually, i take back what i said. Your opinion is idiotic and selfish. If you truly enjoyed this music, you would have no second thought about supporting your favorite artists. So they can continue doing what they do. Spend some money or don't, either way shut it.

  • @EpicDJTime readily available? the equivalent of one album could cost you £50!

selfish? don't support artists? go fuck yourself mate, i regularly donate a tenner for the demos a lot of local bands are handing out for free. i have no problem buying albums or gig tickets. but i'm sorry calling copyright on tabs transcribed by other guitarists who worked to write it up for free, for a song which isn't even an original is low. even the big rich record companies don't go that far.

  • @dm9910 In your opinion it's low, in reality it's fair. Making your opinion meaningless. Do you see this weird video site we're on? It's called Youtube! Where plenty of Candyrat artists songs are READILY AVAILABLE. Jesus Christ, you're an idiot. Whining about stupid shit, then expecting me to mystically know you donate money to local bands. Learn to read, big difference in NEED and DESERVE. Need implies he's has none. Deserves implies that he EARNED it. Can you comprehend that?

  • @dm9910 Calling copyright on something you wrote, who others copied and re-wrote without your permission. And giving it away for free is low? You're a fucking idiot.

  • @EpicDJTime don't bother replying to my last message, because i'm not reading any more of this. go hand over some more money to candyrat if you want, but i'll eat my hat if dufour needs the money.

  • @dm9910 For the record, you don't get to write an entire paragraph then say you're done arguing like you're the bigger man. You can't support your point past "it's low" and "it's not his original song". You failed this debate, because your opinion is weak. And you can't back it up with anything other than more weak bullshit.

  • @EpicDJTime All I got out of this was, "Your opinion was weak"

  • @MsCellolad Good thing i wasn't addressing you then.

  • Suddenly, this morning seems so much brighter!!!!

    :D

  • Why does he have a pick in his mouth?

  • @cepesepe so he can switch between finger picking and strumming with the pick quickly :D

  • @8942712 oooh i didnt see that he was strumming

  • That was the most absurd thing I've ever seen.

  • Teach me? :)

  • I'm blown away by how gorgeous this is! This is exceptional.

  • 4:23 Yeah, I definitely can play that.

  • 104 people must be deaf

  • Does anyone know how to do the harmony at the end? I'm trying to figure it out with no success... I think it might be all with the right hand but I'm not sure!

  • The tuning is from the top is D A E G# A E

Get-tuned is a good website for tuning

  • is there ANY way to get a tab of this???

  • Comment removed

  • i don't normally get all elitist about music, but anyone who thinks jason durulo's "cover" of this song is better than this is in dire need of an extended visit to a mental hospital.

  • This isnt very hard actually, recommend the tabs

  • @MrAzulay Yeah, your version was even better.

  • @Toadisbufo Huh?

  • why was he plucking the end of the strings by the nuts at the end of the video?

  • @CottonKill Yeah, a pitty you can't hear it due to the mic positioning, but i'd imagine some high pitch fade away melody.

  • Oh my...

  • how do u get this nice sound !? o.O

  • @TokioHotelHasser07 Expensive guitar and a good microphone :)

  • @mophead99 yeah but i mean the amazing sound quality ^^

  • @mophead99 More importantly, a great musician!

  • @TokioHotelHasser07 Oh and long fingernails. Fingers sometimes make the sound a bit more dull haha

  • @mophead99 Also try years of practice and devoted study in classical music at college.

  • Wow I love this song, sounds amazing. The first time I heard the original,I wondered if anyone would try it on guitar. HOLY CRAP !!!!!!!

  • I'd highly encourage anyone interested in this style to start learning antoine's music. It has helped me as a guitar player in so many ways, and now i have my own videos! I'd really appreciate it if anyone would check them out. I'm 17 years old and i love playing in this style.

  • Epic finger nails.

  • 1:50 - I was inspired by this performance and felt motivated to practice harder...

    3:04 - I quit playing guitar.

  • @brockmcgoff if everyone just quit how would we keep this style of music going. how would we keep music going in general.

  • @skkiittllezz I think my humor was lost on you...

  • Wristband power!

  • This is unreal. Are there tabs anywhere for this?

  • im loving this

  • That is great!

  • Hello, my name is Colten and i am a lsd user. this song honestly made me fall in love with the one i am still with today and we have both been in dose la la land ever sense. This song is beauty

  • Love the original song, but this one is brilliant, as anything coming from Antione.

  • Gasp! and All this time i thought it was his nail. *whew*

I'm glad because Ill never get my nail to grow that long or be tough enough to pluck a guitar like that.

  • wow!!! aplause!!!!

  • Your armonics are impressive, man.

  • Your armonics are impressive, man.

  • 3:40 and on is the best harmonics ruuuuuuuuuuuule

  • oh i broke a nail lol jkjk the industry i scared of these awesome talented players good lick imma big fan of trip hop so im expansive in my musical taste junip massive attack unkle archive and the coffee and cigarettes collective

  • This man is genious!

  • awesome! so would this be a medley of "hide and sick" and "just for now" or am i more tone deaf than i think?

  • Brilliant. But.. can you float and play at the same time?

  • I was moved and then I smiled.

  • Mr. Dufour i hope we can skip the friendzone...

  • whats the tuning?

  • @Thr0ne0fR0ses DAEG#AE (6-1)

  • @timbom3 Grazie

  • 0:00 - 1:18 sounds like Someone Like You tiny bit. Any Adele influences right there?

  • @Dworakus This is a cover of a song from Imogen Heap's 2005 album, Speak for Yourself, released six years before Adele's. If there are influences, they're in the other direction :)

  • @Dworakus Uh...no.

  • this is the best thing i have ever heard.

  • 2:08 ... i like this moment ...

  • Where the hell can i find the tab for this!

  • That was incredibly beautiful

  • look how long his thumb nail is.. XD

  • @EmmaLynch16 Nothing weird with that. He's using it to be able to get clearer tone to be able to make his playing sound as great as it does!

  • @salomon9595 I don't see the problem with long nails. I have mine pretty long to play guitar and people think it's gross. Damn Haters.

  • Does anyone know what tuning this is?

  • wow man i can basically hear the words in the guitar amazing just amazing.

  • Like if Mrakymrak sent you here.

  • but u cant deny this thumbnail is scary

  • @DarkFitzi That's quite common in fingerstyle guitarists. You'll also notice that most, if not all of the nails on that hand are long as well. Means they can make a sharper wound when they pick the strings =]

  • @DarkFitzi just to clarify, thats a pick glued to his actual nail

  • @axelcampeon yeah, i wonder how many people were thinking that was his actual nail, lol. I've been following guitarists like Dufour, Andy McKee, Don Ross, etc for a few years now and that's one thing i've noticed a few times.

  • @axelcampeon How do you know it's not real?

  • @xKanda101x He has a FAQ video where he talks about that.

  • I'm really interested to know if Imogen heap has responded to this! Must be an honour!

  • @mickmon deleting the cheats he used to play like this.

  • What was he doin with his fingers at the end??

  • That was incredibly beautiful. I mean truly, incredibly beautiful. I felt like I was in heaven as I was listening to this man play this piece. God... that was something else. I can not believe how well he played that. I really can't. It was beyond words, and it literally brought tears to my eyes.

  • there is someone who can tell me whats type of guitar, strings its there? This man is so good, but the voice of his guitar make this melody perfect:)

  • Really wish I could like this more than once.

  • What tuning is this in?

  • It does fit so perfectly with the voice of the original that's embarassing. Great masterwork.

  • How the hell did he even begin to think of even transcribing that song and do it so flawlessly.

  • dudes gotta cut his nails! lol but besides from that he makes my guitar playing skills sound like osama's farts

  • @zoratopa longer nails=better tone in guitar and better possibility of striking natural and fifth harmonics as well as sound hole harmonics :)

  • actually i don't like dufour that much...but this version of imogens song is EPIC!

  • amazing damn it!

  • cut youre fucking nails dude

  • @TenuousHades

    play as good as him

  • @TenuousHades He uses them as picks, to give a sharp attack. Only his right-hand nails are long.

  • @TenuousHades cut your fingers off dude

  • @TenuousHades Your ignorance is showing.

  • @TenuousHades You don't know much about guitar strumming. Nor do you know how to use "you're" right. You know the word that means "you are?" Get back to me when you know how to use grammar and how to play guitar.

  • @UltimaM2 youre cute, call me baby

  • skillzzzzzz

  • FUCK You´ve got talent.

  • i didn't like the riff at 4:24 too much, but it looked great!

  • Sir, they are not finger nails. They are TALLONS!

  • No tabs for this anywhere :(

  • @guitarbeast25 CandyRat website, 5 bucks

  • This man is my new master. I am his paduan. Even imogen is impressed.

  • 3:45 blew my mind.

  • @SerahMusic Dem harmonics

  • Dude... It was a true privilege listening to that... awesome job... keep going!

  • so baffled by the invisble whammy bar...

  • @Ollie19971 All you really do is wiggle the guitar a bunch to get that effect.

  • @Ollie19971 You push and pull the neck. It pulls or loosens the stings depending and bam. Vibrato.

  • @TheDJNaylor He means at 1:08 where he moves his right forearm up and down, not depressing the neck. A lot of guitarists use it. I'm not sure how it works, but I THINK it's something to do with your arm maybe absorbing some of the sound? I don't know much about that.

  • @dajiaoma77777 Even tho his arm is pressing against the body he is really bending the neck. Bending it back puts tension in the strings, raises pitch. Varying the tension creates vibrato. You can only do this with decent quality guitars. Poor quality guitars don't flex enough.

  • @cho4d I do the same technique without bending the neck. Watch Erik Mongrain as well. He does the same thing without bending the neck. And I know it only really works on decent quality guitars. I can't explain how it works, but it can be done without bending the neck :)

  • Comment removed

  • @dajiaoma77777 No, it's exactly what i said. He is using his arm to stretch/loosen the neck, creating the whammy effect. Or vibrato. It's really hard to explain but try it yourself. Put a little pressure either way as you strum a chord.

  • @EpicDJTime I DO use the technique. WITHOUT bending the neck. I know it's hard to explain, because I'm trying to explain how I do it, but I suck at putting things into words haha. I'm not shooting you down and saying you're wrong, even though it may seem that way. I'm just saying it the way I see it from experience.

  • @EpicDJTime Not necessarily. Are you aware of the properties of sound travel? Using your forearm to simply wave the body back and forth causes that vibrato effect. At 1:08, he could be bending the neck, but it's also just as plausible that he's only moving the body. You can try that yourself.

  • @InFlam3sW3Trust Thanks mom.

  • @EpicDJTime Please see below & on previous page. Thanks.

  • @koagtr1952 Why am i to look at previous comments? By the way you seem to be pretty knowledgeable so would you mind if i asked you a question?

  • @EpicDJTime Thanks very much. I'm primarily a "gearhead" & "networker" who has been introducing musicians, technicians & fans to one another & finding instruments & gear for others, for the past 15 years. I've been playing guitar for 47 years. Ask away. Hope I can help.

  • @EpicDJTime I showed this technique to Antoine at Winfield (Walnut Valley Music Festival) a few yrs. ago. It does not involve bending, pushing or pulling the neck. It involves varying gentle pressure on the top (soundboard) of the guitar with your elbow & forearm. Movement of the hand or arm over the soundhole or below the bridge area may enhance the effect. Guitars with "loose" or "articulate" tops seem to respond the best. Well-made cedar & redwood tops seem especially responsive.

  • @koagtr1952 You ended your paragraph with half of my point. Not everyone has a spectacular guitar, i personally am stuck with a horrible 100$ Yamaha with a hole in the side haha. I assumed if this guy was asking about vibrato he probably wasn't playing 3000$ guitar. See what i'm getting at? I don't doubt that it's possible. Anything is possible on the guitar. From what i took out of the first question, i believe he would have better luck bending the neck a bit.

  • @EpicDJTime Antoine had a rosewood/cedar Grand Auditorium Stonebridge (23CR Elite) guitar at the time. He related that it was in the $2000 range. It was a great sounding, well-made guitar. He was intersted in the technique that my friends have nicknamed the "Air Whammy", because it sounded unusual & he had never seen it before. His guitar needed no enhancement & he could have made a similar sound by "Bending" the neck. It works on cheap guitars with "loose" tops too. Just practice.

  • @koagtr1952 Well that's news to me. I do this technique myself and as far as i can tell i am bending the guitar back around my body - holding the neck in place with my left hand and applying pressure with my right forearm :\ i haven't tried it but i don't think it would be possible to do this without holding the neck in place with your left hand.

  • @cho4d If you watch this video, Antoine seems to be placing his left hand on the neck in the conventional way, as he plays. There doesn't appear to be any extra or 'special' movement or posturing of his left hand. However, when you watch his right hand you easily notice uncommon movement. The real key, however, is nearer to his right elbow & forearm. Other movements may enhance the effect. (Try this. Play all 6 strings harmonically at the 5th fret & move your right arm like Antoine.)

  • @Ollie19971 Please see below for comments about this.

  • @Ollie19971 i believe when hes moving the guitar body with that rocking motion 'looking like an invisible whammy'' hes moving the body a bit to get more resonance out the notes/chords hes playing :) could be wrong tho

  • @Ollie19971 He's using his arm to bend the neck, creating a whammy effect from the tight and lose bending.

  • 97 people tried to do the same thing and failed horribly...

  • what the hell is going on?

  • wao

  • emotionless

  • @charlietuna34 do you even play guitar?

  • and tuning

  • @held1back the tuning is DAEG#AE

  • tabs please

  • Where'd the bandana go?

  • Comment removed

  • Why don't you all quit barking about what the tuning is and buy his sheet music from the candyrat website. The sheet music shows tuning and tabs plus your truly supporting the artist you freeloading woodwinds

  • Dont see what's so funny at 3:45. I hear harmonics

  • People, the nails aren't real. They are acrylic glue-on nails. Plenty of fingerstyle guitarist use them.
