  • nice lift, at least I am not only that gets off wrong floors

  • Very good elevator expresso! Should bit replace the buttons with new ones. This is power elevator with power auto-lock slide doors! WOW this is amazing be quick elevator!

  • It is.. but they have now modernised the Lifts to Otis fixtures. You know alot about the door locking systems and such.

  • WOW SO NICE ELEVATOR! But should let them man needs cleaning in the elevator.

  • Good Elevator power!!!!

  • Yes, very fast too.

  • Watch my newest video of this elevator which is now modernised to Otis and is very nice.

  • Express elevator with a voice of Kone!?!

    Nice video!

  • Thanks, I don't know why it has a Kone voice. Great comment!!

  • I think I saw this fixtures somewhere...but too bad the building's demolished already. =(

  • Ohh, I never knew that. Are they building a new one with new elevators?? I would love to film it but that's bad news :( Aulthough the liftw were quite bad and vandalized ;)

  • A new residence went up in its place. But it is a totally different one with no resemblance of any form to what is used to be. But that was around 8 years ago anyway.

  • no numbers on the buttons? were they touch buttons?

    messed up elevator

  • Yes, the buttons were old and you can't see the writing, These were push in buttons so this was a bad elevator. Mabey they should upgrade to the glass otis elevators.

  • dirty! ehh! yuck!

  • I agree, I should call the council to tell them or either clean or reinstall one.

  • i dont know the floors

  • Neither did I but apparently the elevator on one side goes in even numbers well as the other goes to odd numbers.

  • >do you mean you did that to this elevator or >another one?

All the lifts back in the 80s/early 90s looked the same as this one. The ones we did looked simular to this, nothing like the lifts of today-clean,mirrors,gleaming doors, etc.

  • I meant another elevator, It myst be fun and I would like to go back in time and see those 80s elevators. Thanks for the comment

  • I dont have a clue why they call that company express lift because honest thats not that fast. I hate those buttons on express lifts felt sorry for you gettig wound up by that lift remind me to never ride one of those great vid !!!!!

  • Being a colony Hong Kong used to utilize British elevator products like Express long ago in Government buildings. But there are some in private zones like this one 'v=Z0557QcOfEg'. It has typical Express buttons too.

On the contrary, local New Chinese lifts are still rare even now in Hong Kong. Take a look at Xiernuo from Shanghai like this one of mine: 'v=j3gPF7KFUBM'. Looks quite modern. Or this one: 'v=oONBquuyeCM'.

  • Thanks for the url. I love to see these videos but i'm having trouble with youtube but it is ok so i'll watch it ok? Thanks.

  • I hate writing all over the doors

  • have you ever got locked in a lift!

  • no, only once. The lift broke down because I opend the doors when the lift was going down lol.

  • I did the same a couple of times! Both times I managed to prize the doors open to get out! We were working in one of the buildings, the dozy receptionist gave us the lift motor room key so that "we could fix it!". Actually we did fix it! We pushed the down contactor in, the lift moved and carried on to all the calls we created. This was long before camera phones though (no photos or video). If I remember correctly, it was an old Otis (with the black buttons)

  • Another time, we were playing the "snapping electrical cable between the car and the doors"(I was much younger!). We tied a big knot in one end of the cable and throw it in the lift car, then tie a knot on the other end and leave it on the landing. Then we would send the lift up. The electrical cable would go tight and "BANG!"(snap). This was great, we always stayed out of the lift though. One day we decided to view it from inside the car-damn thing jammed the doors and we got stuck inside!!

  • wow, do you mean you put a rope or electrical cable in the car and come out of it then send it up then it would pull the lift to a halt? do you mean you did that to this elevator or another one? Thanks for the comment and how long were you stuck in the elevator?

  • The electrical cable didn't stop the lift, the cable went tight then snapped everytime(as if the cable wasn't there!). Made one hack of a bang!

The time we got stuck was in a car park in slough. We arrived back at the level were we put the cable, but the doors jammed and wouldn't open - it shut the lift down!! Someone came on the intercom. He pulled out the remains of the cable on the landing. I hid my electrical cutters down my trousers and made out that "we'd seen some kids do it!".

  • By the way, lifts are powerful machines-they don't stop for an electrical cable of any size-it will be ripped apart. I was about 20 then, I'm a bit wiser now! Be extremely careful, I wouldn't advise that you do the same, especially at your age. Also, back in the 80s CCTV cameras were not common. I work for a CCTV company-nowadays,in shopping centres,50% of lifts have cameras inside the cars. There are many places to hide them(most are only a small circuit board),some more obvious than others.

  • In my opinion, I think CCTV cameras in elevators should be very hidden such as behind a mirror or in an un obvious place because if someone sees a camera in an elevator they would be good but if you hide it, the people would mess aground and that is how they would act to an elevator with out a camera so they can arrest them.

  • Cool video! Wonder who connected up the floor announciator - "lift going down" said many times during travel!

  • Well mabey it was broken and thought the elevator would tur out great

  • How many floors are there in this building?

  • 13 floors

  • Harri. These Installations are know as Odds And Even. 1 Lift will serve all the even floors while the other serves the odd floors. They both serve the ground. Express installed a lot of these and are commonly found in high rise council blocks usually they have seperate buttons on the ground floor to call the required lift. If 1 breaks down u have to use the other and walk up/down a floor.

  • Oh, never knew that. The other elevator goes to the Ground and Second floor whikle the other goes from the First floor to the Third floor and so on

  • First Viewer. Who could use those buttons? i can hardly read them!

  • I don't know, this is the most confusing lift ever, I don't know why they don't install another lift.
