I love wine, history, Anime, video games, fantasy, world cultures, dance music....yeah I am a geek. I think people like what they like. It makes the world more interesting and it makes people more interesting. Some people take things overboard but hey as long as noone is getting hurt.
Geeks are typically socially awkward types who immerse themselves in mostly solitary hobbies because they aren't comfortable mixing with people. This is typical with computer games and computer programming. But not any more: games consoles now are far more sociable things.
Since what you do is create videos with the express purpose of communicating with people I don't see how you can be described in such a way. If anything it's a form of creative expression.

Aso Taro gave a speech in Akihabara and was said to have addressed the crowd with `my dear otaku guys'. But I'm not sure I'd trust a politician :o)
He gives me hope for my Japanese studies. As you know, he's from a wealthy family, went to all the best schools but now has the nickname KY `kanji yomenai'. If *he* can't read kanji correctly then I feel much better about my own failings!

It's easy to mock Aso san's gaffes, as he's a bit out of touch with the real world, but reaching the Olympic team is pretty damn impressive.
I'm sure he reads literature as well as manga; Bush can probably only read comics :o)
