I can't blame Beckham for wanting to be at Milan (how could you! look at that amazing roster!). Galaxy didn't hold up their end of the deal and field even an average team around him. Tied for last with an expansion team??!! Beckham did his part, but he can't hang with being in the worst team in an already "minor" league like MLS. I didn't see much promise in that horrible loss to the Bluewings, either. Shep is right. Donovan is the real key to LA.

There is no way Beckham did his part. If he is this world-class superstar midfielder how is it he can only produce 10 assists with Donovan and Buddle up front (combined 35 goals). AND how is it he can only manage a 34% SOG? Those are NOT superstar numbers. At best he played average. However, I do think that you an Shep are right about Donovan. If LA could get a defense I think they would have a shot.

Was it his best year? No. He was coming off a major injury. Did he do his part on a largely dismal team? As someone who attended almost every game in Cali, I say overall YES. He had some amazing performances, especially in the first half of the season. Those stats don't tell the whole story for how he was used last year. My point is why hate on Becks when the real problem was no D, no goalie and poor coaching. The real stat to see is this: LA Goals For = 52 (first), Goals against = 62 (last)

Your def right about no D and the the coaching errors.I have no doubt he is an excellent player, he has proved that time and time again in Europe. However, I am waiting for him to show me something in MLS that proves to me that his heart is really in it and he just didnt come here for the money.
