Just wanted to say Great Vid.. Took me about an hour to scale the design to build this box.. And about 6hours to build.. It sounds AMAZING!!! The dimensions I used were based on a 10"x10" panel for an 8" sub. Starting there I came up with the approx. Of a 10"x12"x28" box. I will be using this for my Home Theater. I will be making a twin to it for the other side of the room... Thanks again.. And anyone looking to build this... It's an all day project!! LOL..
Id say your not to smart when it comes to subs lol 8 don't give you shit for bass sorry you can't even feel any bass at all is say poor sound quality if you want bass you don't use a 8 lol that's why they make 10s an 12s 15s if you must like I have how check out my channel
I can see this box method for 2- 12 inch earthquake audio subs. but 2 -8 inch subs?? i dont think it would make a louder difference with a port or if they were sealed. there is too much of a port in the box. it would shorten the sound by 50%
@jayholley123 they are connected to the brown wires from the other coil to put the coils in series - Ive just used that central block to keep the wires together lol. if you look closely you can see the brown hiding under the yellow.
@barevids Hey man, theres a lot of talk on this page out 8's and this videos sic by the way, but u should check out my friends 8" logitech on my channel if u want and maybe subscribe to me and ill subscribe to u.
@barevids Hey man, ive been watchin ur videos for a while, it would be sick if we could make a box together or something, lol, u make nice shit man, i subscribed to ur channel and will be watching all ur new videos, maybe u could ckeck my channel out some time, cheers
People who say that 8" drivers cannot produce good bass are burned out on 12"+ lo-fi car thumpers. I was in a room where a pair of 8" lo-frq drivers in the DCM Time Window squared causes glass shelving to crack.
hey dude! nice box! i have a question! if i want t build a box like this but with one 400w (200w rms ) woofer the box should be smaller or it can be made at the same dimensions you mentioned!????! xD
@jockocam Well done... This is obviously a video showing you what the inside of a t-line enclosure looks like... Once the camera's shut off, a side panal will be fitted and the box will be complete.
@TheJeffprete Numb nuts, smaller subs are way better than the larger couterparts for producing sound quality and often have a higher sensitivity rating too. The bigger you go, the heavier all the components are hence more delay in driver response.
hey do you think you could send me the specs for this box designe ive been lookin for them for a while and came up with nothing johnnyboyblue369@yahoo.com thank you if you can
Unless calculated properly for the exact speaker specs you are intending to use there will be phasing issues with the essentially front loaded box design mashed together with a horn sub design....this is interesting idea tho.....maybe a design with the speakers orientated one facing forward and one backwards. Then time align them to get phasing issues down to a minimum...
nice boxes m8 , but personally think i would of run one driver as the bass driver, the other 8" as a mid rane driver and add a silk dome tweeter to the box bi-wired, would make for some really good sounding full range boxes
Where did you get all you info about the T-Line design. All I can find are a bunch of algorithms and math I can't do. I have taken what I can understand and applied it. I have built two boxes so far. One for an JL 8W3 v3-4 and two Alpine 6.5" Type R, corm and old set of components. Keep an eye out for my vids. Still fighting with you tube to get them on. Pretty new to the whole online vid thing. Excellent work though
Wow man, ive been looking for a better enclosure for my 2 8" but wow, thats amazingg, i think i saw annother one of your videos when it was in autocad or something, can yu link ut up, haha wouldnt mind building the exact same box:)
@100turbodog same as any other speakers--- amp out of PC----speakers out of amp, im not too sure abut when ya using massive systems though- might have to run it through a pre amp or something like that
Now I know that ported is louder than sealed. And according to thors hammer slot porting beats out aero ports in the end.And according to obcon the labyrinth slot is louder than the l port.In your opinion do you think the t-line is the loudest type of ported enclosure?Oh shit I forgot bandpass being louder than just ported. And I know t-line sounds the best.
@SantaSyndrome Well T-Line is the second loudest type of enclosure. Exponential horn is by far the loudest. Klipschorns(The most well known exponential horn enclosures.) send out sound very far. With Klipschorns a 100 Watt sound system would sound as loud as most 1000 watt sound systems, and they have a nice frequency response as well going from the low 30s to around 17k Hz.
@themaster91156 why the hell would i wanna use 12"s or 15"s in a house? thats STUPID overkill dirty bass that cant keep up with the acoustics of a room. In a car yes 12" + are great. for home audio i wouldnt generally go above 10", it just sounds dirty, especially with all the flexing. Thats why i built this t-line, for sound quality....
@barevids I run 4 12's in mine... I love it.. I run clean and not all ghetto but I like to get more info on this t line deal. I have been making boxes every week so whats a few more for fun.. do you have a link to a good write up and all that jazz?
@barevids I use 15's and 18's and get superb SQ, much better than tiny little drivers can manage. If your having issues getting large drivers to sound rigt, you need better drivers and need to learn about room acoustics and proper system setup.
@moonfly1 Yeah but what music do you listen to? It's a fact that transient response is greatly reduced as cone size and weight increases. Only way round it is to have a low moving mass and a strong magnetic field. Expensive larger drivers will perform better, but many people don't want large 12 or 15s in their living room. These designs give you top sound quality whilst maintaining the spl of q well built ported box. And yes soft furnishings and placement will make a great improvement also.
@barevids the argument on driver speed dont stand. A large driver has massively increase Vd over smaller drivers, so they dont need to move anywhere near as much. Less movement required means faster response due to much less travel required by the driver. The only arguments against high quality large drivers, is that they generally need large enclosures.
Check out Home Theater Shack .com and come take a look, you might find some very interesting and useful info. I use the same name and moderate.
@barevids When it comes to music, listen to everything from Ambient chill out music, to drum and bass, break beat, RnB, Dance, Trance and a ton of other stuff. The highest performance subs Ive built have been using sealed enclosures with large drivers. Sealed enclosure offer the highest transient response, and large drivers result in effortless clan bass. You can check out my builds on HTS.
@barevids Also, I'm not trying to take anything away from this build. For smaller drivers T Lines, and the various ported designs can be very good, and they usually rely on the port for increased output the driver just cant provide. I only wish t clarify the point on large drivers. Porting those if you can handle the size gives incredible clean output and spl's, but they are best suited to dedicated Home Theaters. This build does look good.
I don't have the any experience with t-line enclosures, but I feel like the back wave would take entirely too long to exit the port to support the front wave adequately like a more basic bass reflex slot port.
dont you think that is alittle over board four 2 8 in subs and you could have done parallel wiring i didnt even i should say i would even do that for my 4 12s in my car you just wasted wood by doing that
@zidanetribal00042 The sound you get out of it is phenominal :) generally you get the quality of a sealed box with the SPL of a ported, all at a nice ballanced level
So, I really wanna build a couple of transmission line enclosures, with either 2 8s, 10s or maybe even 12s. I'm a little hesitant though, not because I'm afraid of messing up on the actual assembling end of it, but with the calculations and designing. Can you help me out a little bit? It would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks.
Did you Put Some soundproofing material inside it? where?

thats a pretty crazy build... the subs you're using don't look worthy though...

@CoupeDeville23 thats kinda the point...you get big sound with little power and drivers that look kind shitty. it gives a huge WOW factor

Its too bad plexiglas would degrade the sound. That thing is almost too pretty to cover up.

I don't have the any experience with t-line enclosures, but I feel like the back wave would take entirely too long to exit the port to support the front wave adequately like a more basic bass reflex slot port.

dont you think that is alittle over board four 2 8 in subs and you could have done parallel wiring i didnt even i should say i would even do that for my 4 12s in my car you just wasted wood by doing that

can you build Me a box like that But with two 18'' Holes In it :D Please

hello! I wanted to ask a few things!
What are the advantages of this kind of box?
bass feel strong?
Shake it all? or are they just listening to pop music?
Can you tell me if the play is better than a subwoofer in a prefab home theater?
How much did it cost all the wood?

what is the point of having such a complicated box?
zidanetribal00042 1 year ago
@zidanetribal00042 The sound you get out of it is phenominal :) generally you get the quality of a sealed box with the SPL of a ported, all at a nice ballanced level

Hey...
Thanks.
