Oh Dean isn't chairman of the DNC anymore. It's Tim Kaine who is just as conservative as Dean. As far as the police they were outside this event where you had to pay to be there. The college has it's own security and they can take people off campus if they want even if the people at the event want them arrested too. So you can't blame the police for doing their jobs.
adw1010 is only partially correct. It was a mix of campus security and Portland Police. Police are visible. What is not seen is the 12 officers who were amassed across the street. What adw1010 has completely wrong is that the protest was excellent. It was the rigged healthcare forum lined with insurance lobbyists that was pathetic. The 'lottery' system for seats was a sham. What is also pathetic is any American who believes private insurers are looking out for anyone but themselves.
Yep private corporations only look out for themselves. If they weren't why do they turn people away for b.s. reason's? I'm glad to see people of all ages out there supporting a national health care program.
The writer did his best to exaggerate what took place during this event. I was at the event and have to say it was a pathetic attempt at protesting. The Officers stopping the protesters from entering the auditorium were Public Safety Officers from the college not Portland Police Officers. The total numbers protesting were well under 50. I was also inside the forum and could not even hear them chanting and yelling unless the door was open when someone was coming or going. very un-eventful.
Time to organize national "Sick of Health Insurance" Sickouts. Time to Organize! Time to Get in their Faces! Time to Act Up Now! Time to Stop the Corruption Now! Single Payer NOW!!!
There needs to be MORE OF THIS.... IN THE MIDWEST.... my step-mom has been an RN for over 20 years and she didn't know a thing about the Single Payer debate or even what it was. :(
Oh yes everyone who hasn't seen "Sicko" yet from Michael Moore should!
