I'm from Los Angeles, and I saw the film here in New York. It was spellbinding. Charles Burnett the director of Killer of Sheep introduced the film. People walked out at the end in stunned silence. Take that New York! They recently released this film on a 2 part DVD. I really need to purchase this DVD.
Even folks in L.A. are trying to stick it to New York? Sounds like it was a great moviegoing experience, even if the film itself is rough. Glad to see it's getting distribution now!
So I am sitting with my 10 y/o in the East LA library reading a book about LA history. The book mentioned a movie called the Exiles that was filmed in downtown LA back in the early 60's. I was so excited that I almost jumped off my chair. I have always been fasicated by the history of LA. Where in LA can I see this movie?

What sort of restoration did they do? Where can I learn more about the film (other than on wikipedia)?
