Maybe you object to spanking, but the truth is American soldiers in WWII were so brave because they had been spanked. The Chinese Army will have recruited 20 million soldiers who had been spanked and worse, in about five years from now, and they'll just run over/take over the U.S. because pretty much everyone here is a 100% wimp running away and hiding from anything that isn't comfortable and/or "feels good". Lord of the Flies and The General were obviously real. So was some movie with

IIRC Timmy fought a bully and gor a black eye for his trouble. He disobeyed his mom and got a sore rear in addition to the eye. Dad gave Timmy 10 swats with either a wooden dowel, a ruler, or a hairbrush- the camera angles were on Timmy's face. No ouches and no crying, just some fake wincing, and he did not even rub his butt afterwards, which all kids do. IMHO The actor playing Timmy should have gotten a real OTK handsp with crying and beggin for mercy- that would have been much more convincing

That is what I hated about Flipper, two hot guys running around in cut-off shorts all days, and all this talk of past and future paddlings must you never see one on screen. Timmy got it with a wooden dowel on Lassie, but the whole thing only showed two licks that were obviously faked. IIRC Lord of the Flies and Bless the Beasts and Children did it 4real.

Spanking is a form of discipline due to wrongful behavior. Some children respond to it, others don't. I honestly think America needs to stop being so effing PC all the time and start disciplining our children with spanking/paddling if necessary. I've seen so much disrespect and disregard for elders among kids, teens, and young adults that is disgust me and i'm only 24 years old. I'm thinking they should make at least military school mandatory nowadays.

The reason children do not respond to time-outs or being grounded is because the parent in all there infinite wisdom spanked the child first. in doing so they rendered all other disciplining methods useless. I must say that children do learn from example. so if respect is proper behavior then you are teaching them to hit which is not proper behavior which is not respect.

By the way guidav123, you are not your kids friends. They will be angry with you regardless of what punishment you use, this is acceptable. If for some reason they don't understand why their behavior is unacceptable they need to atleast know it will lead to punishment. It's called classical conditioning and it can save your child from doing something stupid that will harm him/her. Later in life they may realize why you did what you did and hopefully they will continue a responsible trend.
