@JohnnyStreets Thanks Johnny, there's a bit of a difference, the E Minor Pentatonic scale on the Hapi Drum is: E3 G3 A3 B3 D4 E4 G4 A4, and the E Pygmy scale is: E3 F#3 G3 B3 D4 E4 F#4 G4
hey there. i've been playing drums and percussion for 11 years and i've NEVER heard of anything as beautiful and other-wordly such as this. this is, for lack of better words, AWESOME. hope you continue playing and once i get my djembe, maybe i'll post some of my own tunes. feel free to visit my page and see what i have to say. play on ans STAY HAPI!
omg myself and my friends want these!, i am very thrilled to see such a quality instrument, not only is it good looking but sounds really great. i am buying one very soon i suspect. just so long as i don't buy it and have it fly off on me or i play it once and little green alien corpses drop out, i am 100 percent sure of where i am gonna spend my well earned dollar.
John once again shows his thoughtfulness with sparse but effective backing tracks on this. The mediatative quality is high (or vice versa). Hapi Holidays to him and you all.
look in the description to the right with the website...There is a good long wait right now - but it is REALLY worth it. Believe me. I now own the hapi he played in this video and I can't stop playing!
I absolutely LOVE the hapi drum. I have one coming this month, and I plan on purchasing more. but, when you are exhibiting the sound of one of your drums, Please don't add any other synthesizing sounds to it! I liked what you did with the Akebono scale video, and I like this drum, but I think that less (or no) synthesizing sounds would better show the sound to people.
Nice Job! How'd you sneak this one past me without me being the first to comment? Love this, and the color is awesome too, nice playing and mixing. Carmy
This one is pretty trippy John. I'm glad to see you are diverse in your music styles. I still enjoy listening to your preflight CD too. I enjoy your music a lot. Keep up the great work!
can't get enough of this song, you rock dude I coudn't descide between a D akibono or a E pygmy now I know what I'm getting, thanks bro.

Sounds great! Is the "pygmy scale" the same as a minor scale? I didn't hear any notes that didn't sound like e minor. Keep up the good work!

To a degree I agree with you, but I think that the HAPI drum has a place WITH other instruments, not just solo.

Nice composition, nice HAPI sound, but the drumset is a bit dominant. Mix it down and you've got a keeper!
PlayHanghang 3 years ago
Thanks! Yeah, the drums weren't as loud before YouTube got ahold of it, but I agree with you, they get a little too crazy at times :)
oddmusic 3 years ago
I personally think the drums are nicely mixed in. :)
But I'm listening on mackie studio monitors instead of PC speakers.
Either way this sounds great!

is there a special way to pronounce hapi?

just like Happy
kwright13 3 years ago
Nice! I'd have reduced the volume on the drum track temporarily for the portions where the synth comes in, though :)
akalenda 3 years ago
Drums a bit loud, but still cool.
Do you buy all these HAPI drums or do you get them made for you since you advertise them?
jjmsmusic 3 years ago
I'm involved with the people who make them, and sell them from my website, though I don't do any of the physical production.

very good. the drum has a beautiful tone and fits well with the backing tracks.

i think the song would have worked better without the loud snare, it sorta stopped the flow of wavy flowing sounds cause it's such an abrupt sound.
