  • I'm sorry, I had to dislike this one

  • I remember this-this one is awesome!

  • This scene used to scare me so much when I was younger...

  • when i was little this scared the CRAP out of me

  • Sesame Street is brought to you today by the number 3, the letter F, and by by Color Form Inc.

  • i remember it - we had that in Israel as well - never thought i will see it again

last time i so it was something like 27 years ago

  • oooo god how i remebeer this xD i thinl i had two video tapes sesame when i was little and thats how rember this. Cx thanks so mjuch for posting :D

  • you know this is actually really really educational for children.

  • makes me want to listen to cornelius

  • This reminds me of Donald in Mathmagicland.

  • I remember the 'synthesizer-like' music played (tunes repeated four times each) when the groups of shapes are formed. Nice memory indeed!

  • Weren't there two preceding parts to this? I believe in the first one, they were introducing the shapes. I don't remember what went on in the second part that lead up to the one in this video.

  • you are correct. I also remember two parts before this one.

  • Just an update:

I found two other parts to this; they're on one of the Hawaii episodes (e. 1090 perhaps). But I'm still of the mind that there was even one more part, making it 4 total.

  • @superAJ71 : That's great. Can't wait for you to upload them.

  • Isn't it funny how the simplest of concepts can bring back such a vivid memory. I remember watching this when I was a kid, too, and even though this is so simple it works so well. To me, it's like the shapes are communicating with each other and then celebrating. At least thats the kind of memory I am associating with my childhood! Nice find!

  • i remember this from '75 or so- i had an old early colorforms set with shapes just like this...and the shapes communicating remiond me of close encounters when the ship communicates by color and sound...

  • OMG - this has stuck in my mind for 30 years! Does anyone remember /have a clip of a similar one with like a roaring motor like sound in the background? The sound used to creap me out!

  • I like the way the shapes organize themselves by making all sorts of puzzles.

  • Wow- I had totally forgotten about this, until hearing the sound effects- especually the quadruple emphasis on the completed pattern... "DUN DUN DUN DUN... DA DA DA DA!"

    Thanks for posting!

  • @galaxyhigh73 I remember thinking the DUNs were happy & the DAs were sad. And I'd say the DAs were a quite common late 60s synthesizer sound

  • The one thing I don't get is why the patterns blink 4 times after being formed?

  • It's called "mind control". Who know what subliminal commands has invoked in people.

  • I used to image the shapes were somehow communicating with each other by flashing.

  • I have been looking for this one for over a year! I didn't even have the first clue how to go about searching for it though. (I tried "red and white shapes", "ARP synth music" etc.) So glad to see it finally make an appearance. Hope it stays up awhile! Now if someone would only post that "Crack Master" segment...

  • ARP 2500, presumably? Nice that you could identify it! (I would've guessed Moog.)

  • This brings back a lot of memories

  • so mesmerizing....must obey

  • ha-ha.

  • Looks like very early computer graphics though it may not be as easy to tell since these were probably out on film.

  • No such thing as computer graphics back in those days! (1973? '74?) Just plain ol' animation.

  • Well I don't know about that. The Electirc Company which debuted 2 years after SS had various stuff which looked like computer animation.

Plus how to you know this wasn't before 1973 or 74?

    So just be quiet.

  • Oh wait, sorry: Wrong page! I thought you were talking about a totally different Sesame Street clip that I watched just before this one: The one with animated lines clip that I used to see back in the 70s.

This squares-and-triangles clip, I've never seen before now, but it was apparently created in 1979 - by which time computer animation was in fact a possibility.

  • Trippy.

  • OMG!! Saw this once! Reminds me of the rubber band man!

  • yeah this one by far is the best because it has the sound effects. The other skits just show the shapes forming.

  • I've only got partial clips from this film (in an 80s episode), but this is as close to the complete set as I've seen in a loooooooooong time. Five stars!

  • This was the review skit. I recall enjoying the sound effects when each one blinked.

  • Wow! This one is old but I can remember it. I also remember understanding the three differences in each group (color, shape and size). Apparently, Sesame Street seems to occasionally air some classic S.S. skits but it's VERY rare nowadays. I bet you recorded this in the mid 90's.

  • Nope.This tape is from the 80's.

  • @mstatz 90s, are you kiddin'? 70s SS was long gone by the mid 90s.

  • You know there were at least 5 versions of this yellow and red shapes computer animation.

    Do you have the others?

  • Unfortunetly I don't.

  • Maybe we should ask sawing14s or ISNorden or nantoreturns.

  • You mean by email? Then Sawing14s will just get ticked and may even block us.

  • why would he do that?

  • Sawing14s blocked me from comments and I don't even know why.

  • @MIKECNW: I don't have the other versions, but I've seen them often enough to wonder where they went. That "DING DING DING DING...dah dah dah dah" motif at the end of each new grouping made those sketches stick in my memory, all right!
