This song is heartbreaking ¤____¤ A total different feeling from Itsumo Nando Demo/Sekai no Yakusoku, Laputa, or Mononoke. This song sounds much more ... i dunno. Maybe "human". I mean, you can really relate to the feelings spread through this song, whereas other Miyazaki's movies songs are more ... I don't know. Whether relaxing or heavenly and so on. This one is ... Breathtaking... And very human. Thanks for the upload. =)
la verdad es que llore con esta pelicula es maravillosa y con un toque magico que despierta los sentidos ,,,, es tan sencilla y fabulosa gracias Miyasaky
The pitch is higher most likely because this video was in the PAL format for European release, as opposed to the NTSC format (I didn't know that Jean Reno played Porco Rosso!) In PAL the original 24 frames per second of the film is sped up to 25 frames per second, along with the audio, so the pitch is over 4% higher.
Yes, Jean Reno is the voice of Porco. The frnch version is just beautiful, and even if the film is set in Italy seems so natural to listen to it in french. What a movie, what a masterpiece.
Here is an old photo left behind. Care to take a look? That person with the moustache is you isn't it? Although we were great friends, I can no longer remember where it was taken. The world looked like it would fall apart that day
and there was no one to talk to.
But even now I have to keep running to paint that never - ending dream... where will it lead?
Sleeping by the roadside were a group of people with nowhere to go. I gave them my money to help them find a livelihood believing that their fortunes would change in the future. In my small lodging home, I allowed them to stay, and slept through their noises until morning.
The storm burned in me each day, until I ran short of breath... those were the days.
Ha!... Thank you!... Who the heck gave me negative points?... >:-(
I've seen this movie dozens of times, and I've always loved listening to the track at the end... It's no joke that I would remember how the singing would exactly sound like...
i think this is probably Hayao Miyazaki best of his films. Only reason i say that (and i love them all) is because this seems to have the most symbolic and clever refrences and morality symbolisms that most people can recognise easily. Great film, and still love the way heavens portrayed in the film (ironically though am atheist xD)
I love this movie and this song so much. I remember when I watched this many times when I was a little kid. It stayed in my mind and it's such a good memory.. Thank you for this video.

Let's have an old tale once in a while, shall we?
At that cafe that we always go to
We saw horse chestnut trees by the window
Spending a day on a cup of coffee
Searching for the unseen tomorrow
Everyone placed their dreams
Blown by the hot wind of the changing era
You felt the time flow with your whole body
Didn't you?

There were times I slept on the roadside
We couldn't go anywhere together
We didn't have any money, but we still managed
Poverty brought us the new day
We crammed ourselves in a small student flat
Causing a racket until the morning, and then we slept
Like a storm every day burned up
We ran till we ran out of breath
Didn't we?

@AshCloves
Look at the only photo remaining
The bearded guy's you, isn't he?
Now I don't know where you may be
Although I have made few friends
The fact that everything that day meant nothing
That, I can't tell anyone
Even now, just as before, searching for the endless dream
You still keep on running
Don't you?

I found this translation somewhere:
The time was so long ago when I recall these memories.
The general stores used to be owned by a friend who I frequented.
Out my window, by a row of trees, stood a marrionier with a cupful of coffee in his hands on the first of every month.
Because we did not know what the future held, we could only place our faith in hope.
I always felt a shivering warm breeze during those times ... those were the days.

Does not anyone translate this lyrics of Tokiko Kato into English?
This song is student's Storri of Japan in 60's.
And, it is a song of the student in Quartier Latin in France of 60's, and a song of the flower children in the United States, too.
Man who understands this movie of Hayao Miyazaki might be Oyaji(Japanese mean Oldman) who knows this
age.
Did Hayao Miyazaki create this movie why?
The Soviet Union collapsed in 90's, and it becomes a hint immediately after that it.
MorinoMashio 3 years ago 2
I translate it in yahoo, and a meaning comes though it may not be at all too good.
By the way, will you have an old talk ?
That cafe which everybody went...
The row of trees of the horse chestnut tree is seen in the window
I spend 1st with one cup of coffee
We looked for the tomorrow when I did not look thoughtless and entrusted it with the future
Hot Blowin' in the Wind of the times when I shook and felt time in bodies...Is it so ?
helooom 3 years ago 8
To where it was correct to have slept together by the roadside without can go
Though there was not it, the money lived somehow
Poverty carried tomorrow
I thronged to a small lodging house together and made noise until morning and slept
Days to spend burnt like a storm
I ran till I was out of breath...Is it so ?
helooom 3 years ago 8
One piece is all to see a left photograph
The face of the mustache is you ?
There is it how many the number of friends whom whereabouts become known to is
That day can be said to be an empty thing by nobody
They still have an unfinished dream in the same way and do continue running?
Somewhere...
helooom 3 years ago 8
It is terrible. It is wonderful.
You translated this lyrics.
It is believed that the friend in the school days keeps having the dream that had it in the school days even if becoming a middle age, and is a song.
Thank you.
Your poetry is copied, and my PC is decorated.

Thanks.
Does not the animation industry in Japan have the thing that it is severe, was recessional, and Mr. Miyazaki also sympathizes with this song a lot?
His subordinate and the colleague leave the industry one after another or it is dead.
I feel that people whom Miyazaki that keeps surviving when listening to this song and running leaves are sympathized with.
