  • Ashita - Tomorrow in Japanese.

  • This is a perfect example of the emotion that can be transmitted without words. It's why I listen to classical. Joe Hisaishi is a genius.

  • This song is heartbreaking ¤____¤ A total different feeling from Itsumo Nando Demo/Sekai no Yakusoku, Laputa, or Mononoke. This song sounds much more ... i dunno. Maybe "human". I mean, you can really relate to the feelings spread through this song, whereas other Miyazaki's movies songs are more ... I don't know. Whether relaxing or heavenly and so on. This one is ... Breathtaking... And very human. Thanks for the upload. =)

  • @YuuriAizawa Perhaps when something is as beautiful as this, it´s hard to describe in words. And it´s fine it be like that

  • mienai ashita o muyami ni sagashite

  • I love this movie :)

  • so so beautiful ♥

  • Let's have an old tale once in a while, shall we?

At that cafe that we always go to

We saw horse chestnut trees by the window

Spending a day on a cup of coffee

    Searching for the unseen tomorrow

    Everyone placed their dreams

Blown by the hot wind of the changing era

You felt the time flow with your whole body

    Didn't you?

  • There were times I slept on the roadside

    We couldn't go anywhere together

We didn't have any money, but we still managed

Poverty brought us the new day

We crammed ourselves in a small student flat

Causing a racket until the morning, and then we slept

Like a storm every day burned up

We ran till we ran out of breath

    Didn't we?

  • @AshCloves

Look at the only photo remaining

The bearded guy's you, isn't he?

Now I don't know where you may be

Although I have made few friends

The fact that everything that day meant nothing

    That, I can't tell anyone

Even now, just as before, searching for the endless dream

    You still keep on running

    Don't you?

  • @runningcatcompany

Je vous remercie. ( Vous avez fait une bonne traduction.^^ )

  • I want that last black and white picture as my desktop wallpaper.

  • ESPECTACULAR

  • go up to your address bar, put the letter "Q" between the words you and tube, then press enter or click go

    come on. do it.

  • I love these bittersweet songs. I've looked this up so many times : )

    The lyrics are powerful.

  • i wunder how bad my life would be if i never heard this song b4. it makes me so happy! :)

  • The pitch is higher most likely because this video was in the PAL format for European release, as opposed to the NTSC format (I didn't know that Jean Reno played Porco Rosso!) In PAL the original 24 frames per second of the film is sped up to 25 frames per second, along with the audio, so the pitch is over 4% higher.

  • muy bonito video

  • "Porco Rosso" (The Crimson Pig) or 紅の豚 (kurenai no buta)

  • what movie is this? :(

  • It made me cry ;____;

  • Schön! Ich mag es!!

    Nice... It´s a nice song...

  • So beautiful..

  • This song is nice, though. =0

  • Looking at the title of the song, I thought it was the song from the Utena movie *lol*. XD

  • Truly a touching song. I just watched Porco Rosso today and the ending made me feel just so wistful. :)

BTW, I noticed something about the video: Jean Reno does Porco's voice in the French dub? Sounds awesome. :D

  • Yes, Jean Reno is the voice of Porco. The frnch version is just beautiful, and even if the film is set in Italy seems so natural to listen to it in french. What a movie, what a masterpiece.

  • Great song indeed!

  • fav ending ever! xD

  • Here is an old photo left behind. Care to take a look? That person with the moustache is you isn't it? Although we were great friends, I can no longer remember where it was taken. The world looked like it would fall apart that day

and there was no one to talk to.

But even now I have to keep running to paint that never - ending dream... where will it lead?

  • Sleeping by the roadside were a group of people with nowhere to go. I gave them my money to help them find a livelihood believing that their fortunes would change in the future. In my small lodging home, I allowed them to stay, and slept through their noises until morning.

The storm burned in me each day, until I ran short of breath... those were the days.

  • will post more later....

  • I found this translation somewhere:

The time was so long ago when I recall these memories.

The general stores used to be owned by a friend who I frequented.

Out my window, by a row of trees, stood a marrionier with a cupful of coffee in his hands on the first of every month.

Because we did not know what the future held, we could only place our faith in hope.

I always felt a shivering warm breeze during those times ... those were the days.

  • Like this cartoon and the song!

  • i love this song. its so graceful n relazing to listen to :)

  • The singer sounds a little different from what I remember?!?!...

  • you are right.

the audio in this video is changed pitch to little higher.

you can listen original in other link. the song name in nihongo is "時には昔の話を".

  • Ha!... Thank you!... Who the heck gave me negative points?... >:-(

I've seen this movie dozens of times, and I've always loved listening to the track at the end... It's no joke that I would remember how the singing would exactly sound like...

  • hmm, if it was changed, it wasn't me who changed it.

  • In the other version, she sings in a deeper voice, and the reverb effect is different.

  • i absolutely love this film. subtle, yet very moving.

  • i wish i knew japanese...

  • @henspens same, my friend knows it, im so jealous >.<

    It's COOL!!

  • i think this is probably Hayao Miyazaki best of his films. Only reason i say that (and i love them all) is because this seems to have the most symbolic and clever refrences and morality symbolisms that most people can recognise easily. Great film, and still love the way heavens portrayed in the film (ironically though am atheist xD)

  • I love this movie and this song so much. I remember when I watched this many times when I was a little kid. It stayed in my mind and it's such a good memory.. Thank you for this video.

  • Does not anyone translate this lyrics of Tokiko Kato into English?

This song is student's Storri of Japan in 60's.

And, it is a song of the student in Quartier Latin in France of 60's, and a song of the flower children in the United States, too.

Man who understands this movie of Hayao Miyazaki might be Oyaji(Japanese mean Oldman) who knows this

    age.

Did Hayao Miyazaki create this movie why?

The Soviet Union collapsed in 90's, and it becomes a hint immediately after that it.

  • I translate it in yahoo, and a meaning comes though it may not be at all too good.

By the way, will you have an old talk ?

    That cafe which everybody went...

The row of trees of the horse chestnut tree is seen in the window

I spend 1st with one cup of coffee

We looked for the tomorrow when I did not look thoughtless and entrusted it with the future

Hot Blowin' in the Wind of the times when I shook and felt time in bodies...Is it so ?

  • To where it was correct to have slept together by the roadside without can go

Though there was not it, the money lived somehow

    Poverty carried tomorrow

I thronged to a small lodging house together and made noise until morning and slept

Days to spend burnt like a storm

I ran till I was out of breath...Is it so ?

  • One piece is all to see a left photograph

The face of the mustache is you ?

There is it how many the number of friends whom whereabouts become known to is

That day can be said to be an empty thing by nobody

They still have an unfinished dream in the same way and do continue running?

    Somewhere...

  • It is terrible. It is wonderful.

    You translated this lyrics.

It is believed that the friend in the school days keeps having the dream that had it in the school days even if becoming a middle age, and is a song.

    Thank you.

Your poetry is copied, and my PC is decorated.

  • Thanks.

Does not the animation industry in Japan have the thing that it is severe, was recessional, and Mr. Miyazaki also sympathizes with this song a lot?

His subordinate and the colleague leave the industry one after another or it is dead.

I feel that people whom Miyazaki that keeps surviving when listening to this song and running leaves are sympathized with.

  • Morino Mashio, "Oyaji" (親父) means (very rudely) father.

  • It is so. I am a father exactly generation.

    I'm Oyaji.

  • pretty good!!!!!!

  • One of my favourite songs (sounds a bit different)... Fantastic movie as well...

  • Mon ghibli préféré, incroyable cette musique :O magnifique *s'incline*

  • this is japan version ending

  • its the same ending on the disney dvd release as well.

  • ohhhhhhh *moans* this is sooooo gooooooood!!

and about this movie... of the 8 miyazaki *proper films, this is easily one of my favourite, if not the best one. i cant really tell because all of his films are gorgeous :O

but this is my favourite miyazaki song, its sooo lovely!

but i think partly the reason for this film not being as popular as it shud is cause its a little bit misunderstood by some (ive read some reviews which were TOTALLY wrong!)

  • just beautiful...

  • katou tokiko's song

  • This is my favorite miyazaki song, and perhaps my favorite movie of his too...maybe. im glad im not the only one who thinks this song is amazing.

  • I love this song so much. ^_^ For anyone looking for this song anywhere else, the full title of the song is "Toki ni wa Mukashi no Hanashi o".

  • brilliant movie, brilliant song.
