  • I enjoyed this, You have a nice voice :)

  • Sorry, but I like the old Asterix movies. [Asterix and Cleopatra] but it IS your opinion.

  • This guy narrating really needs to get a grip on what he's relating, start ,stop, repeat, change the words, throughout the entire video. He should have hired someone else who has a better command of speech to do this.

  • @Eadhmonn That tends to happen when you do a video unscripted.

Speaking about me in the third person eh, as if I'm unable to read your comments, nice going asshole. Anything else you want to criticize about this amateur video?

  • @HandeToon

Yo moron, If you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen !!! Or get a voice coach.

  • @Eadhmonn Nice, you watch one video from me and decide I have a bad voice. Way to go.

  • I love Lucky Luke and I have seen the 1983 Hanna-Barbera series. There are three episodes translated in English, and I enjoyd them very much.

  • @TheTWRModeller I think the whole series is in English since it was made by an American cartoon company. =D But it's also been dubbed in numerous languages, including French.

  • Im tied between Asterix vs Caesar and the Twelve Tasks of Asterix. But after them 2, its definetely Asterix in Britain.

  • i realy like the first asterix movie

  • I really agree with you in some points but still I believe "12 Tasks" to be the best movie. Mostly because it's the only one (besides Cleopatra) where I can really feel the presence of Goscinny and his sense of humor.

The following movies (the second series as you call it) are really lacking of humor in my opinion. Sure, they include loads of gags but only few of them have the right timing so the punchlines just never seem to work for me. I still like the new series because of its drama, though.

  • I think the 12th task of Asterix is the best movie !

  • @milansikidjo It's my favorite too.... I am german and I have to say..... I love the movies with the old voice of Obelix.... however I'm not solely like the movie because of that of course

  • This comic is pretty popular in Europe, but virtually unknown everywhere else. Me being Dutch, i grew up with it.

I disagree with you though, the Uderzo solo albums (other then Asterix Odyssee, which was very good.) are average at best, and terrible at worst. The guy's a good artist, but not a good writer. I mean, he added in ALIENS in one of the albums! Which was about the worst possible thing he could have done.

  • I really think this is a matter of personal preference. In my view The Sky Falls was an okay album if not as memorable as some of the prior Asterix comics.

Also I always find these sort of comments about Uderzo's writing credentials to be lacking any sort of objective criteria. It's comedy after all.

  • @Shavarnarak Must agree here. I also grew up with Asterix, and love it, I have all the books. But I must say, the newer ones are not as good as the old ones (except for the Odysee!! Outstanding!).

  • ""This comic is pretty popular in Europe, but virtually unknown everywhere else. Me being Dutch, i grew up with it"".@Shavarnarak 7million Quebecers would disagree (stucked in that north eastern canadian territory surrounded on all side by an english sea of people) and also most french speaking people around the world

  • @Shavarnarak lol you'd be surprised. But yes! This comic is platinum gold! <3 What a genius work.

  • Thank you for your great review. I Does Asterix have a large fan base in Finland., I think it is a rather geeky thing to know Asterix in the Us. Here in Germany they repeat the animated movies every year on Tv. I will definitely will try and get my kids to read the comic books

  • @AlSidre . I actually like all the animated movies, but I can definately see where you are coming form. I thought the house that makes crazy people was a very fitting analogy for our bureaucracy, especially after you have spend three hours in line at the employment center where you have to fill out hundreds of forms. Ok sorry I must have gotten stuck in ranting mode. All I actually wanted to say was great vid. Continue on.

    Alexa

  • Well, Asterix's strength has always been its topical humour but naturally some things will appear rather more artificial than others to different people. I can't deny the bureauchracy analogy in Tasks wasn't accurate and to the point, I just never thought it was all that amusing.

I guess you see the same thing in the current comics. Fans hated the Disney and Anime references in The Sky is Falling but I personally liked them. It really comes down to a matter of taste.

  • I believe Goscinny and Uderzo personally wrote and directed Twelve Tasks which is why it wasn't based on one of the albums since they were more interested in an original story. But I do agree that film is a product of its times and thus a bit dated (but it does have that hilarious scene about Roman red tape).

  • Yeah, I read that after I made the list too and as mentioned, some might enjoy the film because it's so zany, but I personally just like to see Asterix films tied together by some kind of a cohenrent story, 'then' they can throw all the funny jokes and gags they want at me. =)

  • whats the name of the song un the beginning?

  • "Asterix est la" by Plastic Bertrand, this is the theme to the 1985 film, Asterix vs. Caesar (Asterix et la suprise de Cesar)

  • good review!
