What I love about Oblivion, on PC, with mods, is the million stories the game creates.You come across a dead bandit, with a couple of dead wolves nearby, and off in the distance another three wolves... Or in a cave, dead goblins and then dead wolf, then finally you meet a live Minotaur and you know the story of that cave before you entered it...! Fantastic!

If you still want an answer - GeForce 8500 is a cheap card for a not complicated games. Oblivion is an old game now but it should run game on high details well.

upgrade ALL ur driverrs, only thing than can be done, else install windows 7 rc for free from microsoft, nice os and fixes all issues with the latest hardware and oblivion runs better on it

It's amazing how well this is running considering the video was made back in May 2006, before a lot of the new drivers and patches that help performance. I guess it's just a testament to the excellent tweaking abilities of Koroush.

Wow, VERY nice. I've never seen Oblivion run this slick before, and certainly not with settings this high (HDR and everything). Just read through the TweakGuide, thanks so much for that, it's a must-read when it comes to Oblivion. FPS is good, now if I could just figure out why my system keeps stuttering things would be perfect.

PS3 version has a lot of improvements on the 360 version. Such as faster loading times (noticeable too) and no "loading area" screen. Plus, KOTN is already included.

The PC version is only better in terms of mods, and if you have a capable system. If you do, I recommend the PC version, otherwise PS3.

Very nice, mine runs almost as smooth with x1950 pro, but only with bloom effect for light (havent even tryed the other one hehe)

What makes you think you have to have "details maxed"? The game looks gorgeous and PLAYS BETTER if you do not force yourself to keep all settings at their extreme maxima.

Ok after turning V-Sync off the game really started to fly. I can rise the resolution to 1280x1024 and absolutely all maxed out. But now I get reboots or hard locks when exiting the game. :| Weird.

I have almost identical hardware, and I don't get nearly as smooth gameplay as this. :| I can't keep the details maxed without fps dropping below 20 in certain areas (busy cityscene and itense forest scenes). I have heavely overclocked 7900gs, which should be easely more powerful than stock-7900gt. X2 4200+ is the processor and 2GB of 800mhz ram is installed. Does the patch 1.2 reset the ini-file? Because after patching the game the fps dropped a little. :(

ok..dudes,dont wanna look like a retard,but I DO have dual-core(1.85ghz),but the game only seems to be running using one core,definately not what I would expect,having a 256mb Gforce and 1gb ram,supposedly the game should run well,but it isnt smooth,so im guessing I need some kind of dual core patch?

There is a slight lag in the synch of the audio and video throughout for some reason on YouTube.

FPS is actually not that high, and FRAPS reduces the FPS by a fair bit in some areas while recording.

Is it me, YouTube, or were there various slight stutters? Like during your fight with the crabs, and especially during the boar fight. There was also a slight lag between the hit and registration. A FPS counter would have been nice, because OB looks like it's running at a high 30-low 40 fps. It's really hard to tell on YouTube.

Dude i think this is a really good vid, this game is very demanding, and its using FRAPS at the same time which means getting 30 fps written to your disk at all times... I think stutters can be very well forgiven
