  • just for my man <3

  • Harmonics on the Bass. Wunderbar. Word for Word. Bill Nelson (a tad longer on the guitar solo)

  • Hay cosas que deberíamos saber, mas allá del infortunio del flujo del yo, o no controlado por la atención que debería de obtener, de uno mismo. No toco es tan complicado si te causa interes para el bienestar de todo lo existente la seguimos. Fernando.

  • Been listening to "Dreams of Reason Produce Monsters" on Spotify and it is far and away my favorite album of Mick's. This is my favorite track...DS may be singing but the instrumentation is all Mick! :)

  • What a great bassist. May he rest in peace.

  • When I was a kid and life got too hard to bear I would lock myself in my room and listen to Japan and all my troubles and problems would fade away. For that, I thank you Mick. You made my childhood bearable.... God bless you.

  • A plea for a friend...Back in '78, a gal I worked with knew I loved Bowie and said,"Here. Listen to this." JAPAN's Adolescent Sex. I didn't take it off my turntable for 2 months. They've been my favorite band ever since. Able to find a full collection of all their work over the years...but...never another fan! I've felt so alone in the joy they give me. Just want to say "Howdy!" to someone who's got "Wish You Were Black" on their ipod or whatever. No foolin'..."Rhodesia"?...anybody???

  • @jimstardust How I identify with what you wrote, Jim. Howdy, indeed. And I can't believe you mentioned Rhodesia, one of my favourite tunes from the time. I was growing up in the far north west of Queensland, Australia, listening to Japan and their ilk while surrounded by my friends listening to the oz pub rock of Cold Chisel or Australian Crawl. Felt lonely, but oddly satisying, at the same time.

  • @davidmoore651 "Howdy", David! Thanks! I've been keeping a fave-tracks CD in my car, and play it when I give my grandsons or others a ride somewhere. It still has the power to make people say, "Wow...who's that?" I love hitting 'em between the ears with the opening to ...Rhodesia!!!

  • which album is this song on please

  • @citic101 ...Rhodesia (written with the dot-dot-dot) is on the albums Obscure Alternatives and Souvenir from Japan (Ariola/Hansa). Great track. Worth the hunt.

  • what a loss!Love and peace and everything.I hope he`ll is talking to Dali and his car

  • Wow, I'm glad I've listened to this. The pictures fit well.

  • perhaps she was ...

  • @triphorn19 Everything you say is true but what must have hurt more than Fuji's infidelity was the feeling that he'd been betrayed by one of his oldest and closest friends. And let's be honest he had been. You can make all the excuses you want for him but the fact remains that Sylvian couldn't not have been aware of Karn's feelings for her at that time & must also have known that it was going to cause irreparable damage to his & Karn's relationship & of course to the band.

  • @triphorn19 You say that you doubt that being dumped by Yuka Fuji in favour of Sylvian bothered Mick Karn much. I suggest you read Karn's autobiography Japan and self existence. You may change your mind!

  • this is beautiful 5 *****

  • BBC radio 3 "Late Junction" has just played this song as a tribute to Mick. They will play Dreams of Reasons at 00.42 hr.

  • very good !!!!

  • Sadly missed. I missed this album, but to judge by this, I'll need to do some shopping. This is gorgeous.

  • We do Hallie. One of the best post Japan songs i've heard. This was off a Mick Karn album, I bet Sylvian was a wee bit envious of it. Fans of Mick must listen to 'A Subway Called You' by Gary Numan. Karn's bass intro is amazing.

  • @davemacc904 wow ... A Subway Called You is one of my favorite Karns bass plays for years ... i'm glad to know someone's even noticing it ! cool

  • @xalexsnappa -I agree with you!! Great track of GN!

  • Dave Mac and Hallie more like it......

  • RIP Mick

  • RIP Mick Karn, Hare Krishna, may he continue to play divine bass in the spirit worlds.

  • RIP Mick - one of the best and most original fretless bass players ever!

    His music lives on.

  • Thanks Mick! R.I.P.

  • R.I.P. dear Mick. These are all lovely pictures of Mick and David. Well done!

  • Mick Karn is an inspiration for all forms of expression in art/music ----- very few people can say they have a definite style that is their own. Thank you, Mick for sharing it with us !!! RIP

  • @camilelcoyne you hope Mick karn is in hell, that's a bit harsh! he doesn't deserve to be there, as he was a good bassist

  • @isleoforkney Oh, no!! That's not what I meant at all! I'm sorry if it came across that way! I meant *me* possibly going to hell and that I'm selfishly wishing for good company when I'm there. I'm sorry if my comment came across in a harsh way.

  • @camilelcoyne don't worry i was joking, (should someone not go to hell because they are a good bassist?) Know what you mean though, God bless Mick, sadly missed : (

  • Mick...R.I.P.

  • Miss you Mick, never forget your brilliance.

  • So sad to see our favourite musicians pass away suffering from a senseless disease. The good thing is, that their Music and influence will live on for ever...

  • @Yecora26 Indeed - if it is any comfort - Mick Karn did make the great breakthrough with Japan getting the appreciation. It is funny to notice how Tube has so many musicians doing the 80's music

with fingers smoking e.g to bass and keyboard lines. I think that proves something on which once was dismissed as teenage pop :)

  • sad news indeed to hear of his passing

  • karn is up there with jaco!

  • Great work Nabiky, you really did something on your own out from this. Not one of my favourites this track got a more shiny appearance by your exellent work. Altough i prefer "Buoy" from the same album.

  • I only hope they put their differences aside befor mick passed away. Only David will really know.

    R.I.P. Mick

  • RIP Mick. Pioneer and inspiration. RIP.

  • Hi Nabi-san, this great clip was put on a Dutch newspaper site! De Limburger is the name of the newspaper. I was also quite touched seeing it again, so thanx ever so much dear!

  • RIP MICK

  • thanks Mick...

  • Mick karn died yesterday 4 Jen..

  • I just cannot believe that Mick has passed away.

  • God bless Mick. thanks for the music.

  • am truly very sad - what a tragic week for music.

  • We were all so lucky to have had such a talent to appreciate. It will be greatly missed.

  • RIP MICK!

  • RIP MICK!

  • Descanse em paz, amor. Rest in peace, sweetheart.

  • RIP Mick

  • We will miss you so much

  • such a beautiful song. such a loss. and Sylvian has a voice your girlfriend would leave you for even if you're a girl.

  • Mick is gone

    I miss you

    I'm crying and crying

  • R.I.P. Mick. We all miss you

  • We miss you...

  • R.I.P. Mick

  • Wow -- can't believe I missed this at the time. Was such a Japan / DS fan back then. Guess I'd given up on Mick after Dali's Car ... / to echo others, fab pictures too: thanks!

  • R.I.P Mick Karn.

Your bass playing skills were nothing short of magnificent and you were so utterly stunning

  • sad sad sad.......Mick san sayonara.

  • This song is the best colaboration with David. RIP Mick.

  • RIP Mick :(

  • RIP Mick.....your bass playing in Japan and in all your collaborations will live on in our hearts.

    Peace to your family.

  • RIP Mick. You will be missed....

  • Goodbye Mick,amazing artist.

  • so sad Mick.....

  • RIP Mick

  • RIP Mick

  • RIP mick karn

  • RIP MICK K..

  • RIP Mick Karn

  • In a recent interview, Sylvian said (on Mick's condition) :

"I wish him peace, something he appears to have known so little of in all the years I’ve known him. Peace and a haven from the inner demons that have plagued him throughout this lifetime. If I could, I’d embrace him and remind him how much I’ve always loved him and in that instance, for the duration of the embrace if not a moment longer, he would know it to be true."

  • @shinysynthcity thats beautifull, the only positive thing i can think of is that mick wont feel any more pain or suffering. i feel like ive lost a friend.

  • @shinysynthcity But obviously his "love" for Mick wasn't enough to stop him sleeping with Mick's then girlfriend Yuka Fuji! Although much of his music is etched on my heart, I can't escape the impression that there is something less than genuine about Sylvian.

  • @MisAnnThorpe That happened years ago, when these guys were only kids, not much more than teenagers!!! Let's spread LOVE and PEACE instead of hostile feelings... I'm sure that's what the lovely Mick wants now, as he looks upon us from Heaven. Rest in Peace, Mick...

  • @shinysynthcity Which interview was that? I would LOVE to read it! :)

  • @triciapowers It's in here, an Italian site: davidsylvian.it search for this: Eloquence accompanies maturity - by Cristiana and Antonio

  • @hydorah Found it! Thanks so VERY much...looking forward to reading it...I was so struck by the candor in his statement about Mick that I had to know more. :)

  • i think the first photo is the best; it has a strange enduring quality, and it's such a shame that Karn + Sylvian grew distant from one another after being good friends for such a long time. Two great men. <3

  • I love this! ♥

  • 、.。゚+..。゚+.*.。゚+.(σ´Д`)σ.。゚+..。゚+..。゚*good!!

  • David will always be "The Voice" and Mick's virtuosity on the bass I call "Magic"

thanks for sharing this gift with us

  • Two very beautiful and talented men.

    (David's neck is so sexy...)

  • i dunno why such two amazingly talented people should be be more successfull. mick and david you are the best please bring back that magic.

  • broke my heart when Japan packed up but Mick and David have gone on to give us some incredible music. great montage

  • From mickkarn.net:" With great sadness we regret to inform you that Mick has recently been diagnosed with advanced stages of cancer. Mick is currently in a positive mood and undergoing further tests and treatment. His family and friends are close with him, supporting him in practical ways, and surrounding him with their love, friendship and care."

  • @InvertedEarMusic

I am grateful for the devastating news. My thoughts are with him and his family in this time of difficulties.

  • I love it

  • You can go to nightporter.co.uk/pages/bass_auction.html to learn about a bass auction with the proceeds going to the Mick Karn Appeal to help this great bassist and his family during his recent time of need fighting cancer.

  • awful news about Micks illness. Wishing him and his family the very best and praying he makes it through!

  • Karn has cancer now, so my best wishes to him and hope he has a speedy recovery. I'm going to a Nightporter thing with my mate to celebrate his work and help get donations.

  • god bless mick...just heard he has cancer:(

  • Fantastic album. Sad news today about Mick, advanced stages of cancer...

  • Love and best wishes go out to Mick and fingers crossed he doesn't suffer through his dreadful illness.

  • amazing amazing amazing album full stop

  • What a wonderful tone he gets out of that bass ! as a bassist myself I can say he's one of the best ! very inventive lines too !

  • love these guys thanks for posting that song one of my fav ever T-T

  • Tokio hotel! That is a german band with kids playing kid nonsens. The Band leader is drinking milk and is a model for Joop.Sylvian one of the Best musicians ever looks very old.He once was so attractive. His dark soul appears!!!

  • Has anyone got a japanesse band called "Hotel" doing "Life in Tokyo" at the Jap MTV Awards? its fantastic...

  • Dreams of Reson Produce Monsters

Great LP & Bouy was another great song to.

  • No one makes music as dark and sultry as

David Sylvian. Always painting something new and beautiful with his mind. He is pure

    class.

  • not my era lol

  • Thank you for posting this --- great work by MIck & David. Very ironic that 'Love walks in' is the title/chorus and the break-up of Japan was rumored to be partially over a girl both of them were seeing (at different times, separately). I actually like this more than Japan & Rain Tree Crow! Thanks again!

  • So good to see Mick and David back together..Japan were one of the best groups.

  • Is this in recent years this clip? thanks

  • This was released around 1987/88. I had it on 12", and it sounded great then, as now!

  • very good! muchos gracias!

  • deathrape. what a twat u r xx

  • Wow since when did these two bury the hatchet.? Great vibe on this. Fans of all of them.

  • they haven't, if you read Mick's book he talks about how he's angry with David for taking all the songwriting credits with japan

  • talentless? sylvian never ever really learned how to sing. and as he stated in an interview, he never really practices.

in my opinion, doing something really wonderful without any professional training is only possible because of talent...

  • Talentless???

Ought to be brainless!!! Poor boy

  • You again? please stop complaining about that which you dont like and go enjoy and priase the things you do like... Do you not know, the best criticism of the bad is to just go and do it better! Bless you Mr Rapist

  • Hmmm... yes is true

    you are right !

    : )

  • @Maxiclaudi i dunno why such two amazingly talented people should be be more successfull. mick and david you are the best please bring back that magic.

  • beautiful song

  • Mick and David should get back together, there is a special frequency when they play that brings out a sound so unique.

  • I usually hate photo-montages put to music but this song is so great that I can't help but like it. If you did one for "Three Fates" and "Buoy", I would probably love you forever. :)

  • Thank you for watching and comment!

I would love to make a new video infact i have to do the second part of the Tribute to Japan ...

I think that Buoy has a video ... not sure about three fates ...

Anyway hope everything is fine in your world!

    Greetings

  • OHHH!! Sorry wrong video, this one is on " Dreams of Reason Produce Monsters" and yes it´s backward bess line. LOVE IT!!

  • On which album is this song from? thougt I knew everything. DS´ new album is quite something, think I have to hear it 10-20 times before I don´t get depressed when I hear it ;o)

  • This is song is from the second album of Mick karn Dreams of reasons produce monsters

  • transportive......

  • 本当に素晴らしいです

  • epic song:)

  • I've been a fan since my Japanese friend bought "Oil on Canvas" and we listened to the haunting sound of Sylvian's voice and kind of liked it. That was 1983 and we didn't even know that the band was already no longer. I've been to 2 shows ('88 was the better, after Secrets) and from "Perspectives" to the Weatherbox, I've sometimes thought of all the memorabilia and how it's multiplied in value many dozens or hundreds of times. All I have is the music, which is sufficient

  • marvellous!

  • i don't know how you get these pictures...they're great

  • Hehe

it was pretty hard getting photos from Mick Karn cause as you know there's many from David..

    Thanks for your comment!

  • It's called "Busy",

featuring a "backwards" bass line by Karn . . .

  • True ARTISTS in every sense.

  • Back in the day i was a BIG jAPAN fan, i had my hair like Sylvian's and played bass in a band, Mick Karn is a fantastic player. His fretless bass is something else. I saw them play a short set at Virgin records in B-ham in 1980 to promote polaroids, VIP only, my boss gave me his ticket. I dont play anymore and have no Hair!!

  • You were a lucky man!

    Japan live show ...

    WOW!

    hehe : - )

  • very good thanks

  • thanks to you for watching!

  • I was brought up to this music, it's in my veins, it's not music, it's a way of thinking and a way of life and i'm proud to be like that inspite these ugly times!
