  • This was a favourite of one of my best friends, now so sadly not with us. He was a fine guitarist and a huge influence on my musical tastes. He introduced me to this Wes Montgomery tune in the late 50s and it still brings me to tears. Miss you Miff. D.

  • Someone once said " Jazz is like love, if you don't make it you can't taste it "

  • I just discovered this man and I'm glad i did. Jazz will always be my favorite!

  • 3:30 HFS can he say the line or what?! people act like hype dance music is sexy, but you know lots of people were conceived in the parking lots and hotels directly adjacent to the clubs where wes played every week in indianapolis before he went big time. this is the most seductive music of all time. speaking of babies, he worked as a welder by day, taking care of his family before he went to his guitar gig every night. he chose the gibson l5 b/c he considered it modest and fungible. wes!

  • I was born way too late.

  • wes' soul was in his fingers. what a wonderful gift.

  • Wes is the jazz guitar...

  • What kind of sad wanker dislikes this song?

  • Hit the dislike button by mistake, corrected that real quick, I LOVE this!

  • Can smell the tobacco smoke, and hear the quiet chink of late night glasses. Falling asleep, yet hearing every delicious note.

    Thanks.

    JW

  • so beautiful! thank you

  • for that one person that clicked the dislike button, i hope you get raped by a giant scorpion.

  • @dummyhands

Oh come on! Everyone is entitled to their opinion... (Make that two scorpions?)

Seriously, if someone doesn't like this why should they be afraid to say so.

I think it's the greatest sound.

  • pure grace

  • long live wes montgomery

  • Second only to Django Reinhardt for me.

  • Just... beautiful. Cannot stop listening to it.

  • @alexedwards07 I agree wholeheartedly :)

  • It was listening to George Benson that gave me a liking for this kind of music and oh man, this is soooooo good!

  • bill evans was the greatest jazz musician of all time. Of course that being self acknowledged as a silly statement, wes was very great. Too bad they had very different life paths because they would have had a interesting musical repor i think. Jazz is great. if u like this listen to johnny smith play this tune/.

  • f*ck rock music for abusing an instrument that could sound as beautiful as this

  • @DanKreiger Right on, and with such amounts of distortion only the lousy power chords (root-fifth) sound good, ask a Rock musician to play a G13 and he'll strum G a 13 times,LOL

  • I know some of you may not agree......but I feel like Wes Montgomery is the best jazz musician ever....and most certainly of his time. He made the largest leap in his instrument.....and has the closest gap between him and musicians today. You listen to him and you'll swear its somebody from 2010. I love all of those guys....Monk, Coltrane etc....and I know its futile to bring up this convo, but....I just thought it was an interesting take.

  • @JColeM7785 Totally agree with you, like Benson once stated if Wes entered the room he played second to none, and believe me this is an accurate statement. For me Wes is one of the most "Natural" sounding Jazz guitarists,no overplaying, gimmicks just natural flow with such great melodic creativity and rhythmic sense. Up to today he's an inspiration to me,with all respect to all other great musicians who I admire. Today 2011 Wes is still in my top 5 of Jazz guitarists and more specific numero Uno.

  • @JColeM7785 Wes was incredible, and it's interesting that you point out that there's very little gap between him and musicians today - but that may be more indicative of a really disappointing jazz guitar scene, at least in my opinion, since maybe the early 70s. Guitars came late to jazz, and as a result, I think they had less time to develop like all the other instruments did and sort of stopped developing as jazz became increasingly either experimental or neoclassicist.

  • @JColeM7785 baden powell as well

  • brilliant rendition of a beautiful tune

  • Wes was great!

  • what a masterful approach wes has , while almost all guitarist are content with chord solos on this melody wes just plays around with and sort of weaves improvs into it , very cool

  • There'll never be another Wess

  • didnt know jazz could be so tender till i heard this track

  • מדהים
