Aretha, has her rightful place in my life soundtrack. I like her music from the late 60's and early 70's. Everything after that, I tend to take in small doses. But it dont get no better than ARETHA ARRIVES and LADY SOUL. "Goin Down Slow", is my fav', along with "People Get Ready", "Baby, Baby, Baby" and "My Song"

Because Im an adult, I can listen to any of her music whenever the mood strikes me. I think that most of her music after the 70's, was over-produced. Its my perrogative to feel that way. Not everyone has to be some HUGE fan of hers. My parents have her entire catalogue, on vinyl and on cd's. So Im very well versed on ALL of her music. I happen to like other artists, more.

Quite the contrary, Mariah's material has improved over the years but even now it in no way, shape or form can compare to Aretha's glorious output on Atlantic.
