  • SWISS CHEESE AND YOUR MENTAL HEALTH: When you think of Swiss, remind yourself that Swiss cheese is a great analogy for life itself After all, life is not bland and predictable like Cream Cheese or American. Rather , life has holes and it how you get through them that counts!

To find out more how the analogy of Swiss can help you put life in perspective, visit The Swiss Cheese Theory of Life web site. On October 1st our book, The Swiss Cheese Theory of Life, will be released!

  • Mais c'est quoi cette fondue de merde??

  • @fatalfoenix Commentaire absolument pas constructif et inutile mais je dois avouer que j'ai pensé exactement pareil ! HA HA HA !

  • Looks delicious. Thanks for sharing the video.

  • like her way to make the dish, she eats all the left overs, seen the size of her?

  • Can I use something non-alcoholic else besides wine? Thanks

  • OmG!!!

This is no Swiss fondue for sure!!!!

This is eventualy melted cheese in a iron pot, nothing more!

The Swiss fondue is a super-simple farmers' meal, with just garlic, kirsch (swiss liquor of cherry), white wine, typically two types of cheese (like Gruyère and Vacherin for the most famous *moitié-moité" (half-half) or Emmethal and Appenzeler, and so on... only in Wallis you can find pure raclette-cheese fondue).

And the pot is made of terra-cota, no iron!!!!

    Well, come down to CH!!

  • @MrPocobelli That's exactly what she put in the recipe (minus the lemon). And fondue isn't a farmers food, farmers can't afford it!

  • Why is her face shiny ?

  • i wanna eat cheese fondue o 3o

  • Cracked pepper XD

  • people arguing about cheese fondue? this is gold haha look kids its a good recipe. and NO she isnt irritating shes informative.

  • irritating woman... you're gonna hate this video, see if you can beat 3 mins before you switch off

  • @battenberg72 She has a strong character but I like it

  • It's not like she said "this is traditional fondue as made by the Swiss," she said "cheese fondue." It is not incorrect to call this Swiss Cheese fondue because she did indeed use Swiss cheeses...it would be incorrect to call it "Traditional Swiss Cheese Fondue." This is the Melting Pot's own signature dish, as she said...

  • @Oecologeae

true, she doesn't say it's a Swiss fondue. The video's tag then should be changed...

  • @Oecologeae

true, she doesn't say it's a Swiss fondue. The video's tag then should be changed... Because really, just melting Swiss cheese doesn't make a Swiss fondue. Not even *non-traditional*. Fondue is a receipy. You can't just put any kind of salad with any kind sauce and call it caesar, right? or any kind meat in any kind of bread and call it a Hot-Dog, do you?

Well, then this is no Swiss fondue. Period.

  • To keep the cheese from turning into a ball in the fondue pot, you should stir in a figure 8, not a whisking motion as in this video. Lemon juice is not traditional, but wouldn't adding an acid to melted cheese like that cause the proteins to coagulate?

Wow, rude comments about Americans. You can't stereotype all of us as to having cheap taste...why else would I be looking for a real Swiss fondue recipe when I could just as easily melt Velveeta in the microwave and call it a day...

  • Stopped the Video when i saw LEMONJUICE. Please NO LEMON JUICE for your ORIGINAL SWISS CHEES FONDUE!!!

  • I'm not Swiss but I'm pretty sure that lemon juice is not a part of the traditional cheese fondue, neither nutmeg. Also the stirring style is wrong. Not to forget that this is a communal dish so blowing the food is not appropriate.

Nothing more is expected from most of Americans though as they alter things to fit their cheap taste but still insist on keeping the traditional names.

  • @Kahrupay Forget about the lemon juice, but nutmeg it is. What's wrong in the picture is the girl. In Switzerland, Fondue is cooked by men, not women. After World War II the government had to find a way how to deal with milk overproduction and ordered that military servicemen be taught how to cook fondue which is how fondue, once a local dish from the Valais, became a national obsession. If this program were any good, you'd have a television cook in a Swiss army uniform hosting the show.

  • @vhediger: Thanks for the valuable info.

  • Sorry but you didn't get the point. Of course everybody alters things. The problem is not the change but retaining the traditional name while using an alternative method. No one would have any problem if this things was called American Cheese Fondue or something like that. Read other comments and you'll get what I mean.

  • But your arguement was based on "everybody alters things" which didn't make sense in that regard.

About the American taste, like it or not this is what most of the people I met, from East Asia to Western Europe, believe. I live in a country with a huge number of young immigrants which makes an interesting envirnonment for us to experience diferent cultures and know about different opinions from different parts of the world, and this is one of those common beliefs I see most of them share.

  • Even if this is the case, I personally prefer not know about that less than 10% of the world rather than the rest. I have nothing else to say about this and also this is not the place to discuss this but as the last thing, hopefully it's time to sit and think why most of the people around the world don't like people from your country and are all of them really wrong?

  • different parts of CH do fondu differently, i believe Gruyere + Ementhol = Neuchatel. i will add that the recipe in this video is a little odd. its almost straying off the path and heading towards adding corn syrup..

  • if your cheese is clumping, flour is not the solution

  • the original swiss cheese fondue is way better :)

  • traditional swiss fondue? LMAO

  • @Sir655321 agreed.

  • That is an American Way to Make Swiss Cheese Fondue....Sorry, but you are fare away of the right way to do. The most important thing, is to put all the Cheese in the cold Wine, and then start to Heat.

  • You must first put the cheese then the water and the garlics...then make it melts...A little bit Kirsch...and the voilà...you have a good fonfue...^^

  • I m swis to ...from the french part of Sitzerland And I never did the fondue like that...

  • mmmm, I'm can I use soy cheese instead of the swiss?

  • not sure soy cheeze will melt right. why not try it and then let me know how it goes!!

  • just buy a swiss cheese pack of fondue at trader joes

  • i am swiss and i defenitly make the fondue not like that.

  • cant we add sumthin other than wine. some of us are muslims here wanting to experience the delight of swiss cousine

  • hey for fondue you need

gruyere and vacherin cheese, melt them and finish:-)

  • hey ur a muslim??? so am i!!! no offence if thats offencive

  • Hmmm.... traditional Swiss Fondue? LOL

First heaten up the Cheese, and then ad some white Whine... An important detail.

    But it looks great.

  • looks good. Instead of using wine and brandy, can you use another substitute. I am Muslim and I dont drink. :(

  • it cooks with the cheese. so its a problem

  • Ethanol is volatile. It will be completely evaporated once the fondue is ready to serve.

  • mmmmm delicious
