Our Economy remains dangerously weak because the US Congress had not and will not change the laws that allow corporations to file taxes as individuals--GE paid NOT ONE CENT OF TAXES in 2010 despite of millions in profits!! Our economy remains in jeopardy because the US Congress has not demanded the banks use the money given them as agreed--to stimulate the economy and create jobs--instead they paid their execs millions in bonuses to those who used the banks as their own private casinos!!
I agree! America is quickly spiriling down. The prigressives will succeed and One World Government is going to happen. Nobody in office will fix this problem. Americans need to turn to God for help.
I'm looking at this from a human race point of view we need 2 unite and live freely not rely on one elected person to make our decisions and tell everyone what they can and cannot do
Pro-growth and pro-government are not mutually exclusive.
This age is characterized in part by extreme suspicion of government. But government is just a tool, either to be used or not used in a given situation while respecting the Bill of Rights in the Constitution.
All I understood about this was that this guy wants to be heard and taken seriously. I'm not really sure if that's going to happen with a speech like that, though.
@orkid682 Lol but seriously the only people who actually advocate for small government are libertarians but even ron paul imposes his Christianity on others.
When even the MOST PROFITABLE corporations ship jobs overseas, it's OUR FAULT as liberals or progressives??? Not the company leaders' faults for placing too much emphasis on bullshit measures like "shareholder value", rather than what's right and makes sense? No, no no... I'm sorry, Republicans, but you are SO FULL OF SHIT! It's amazing you don't have diarrhea daily.
Ask THE EXECUTIVES who are doing all the shipping, "Why do you need to constantly ship jobs overseas? You're profitable as ever. You've got plenty of money. Are you misspending it or WHAT?" but of course, Republicans would see THAT as an "anti-business" venture. You can't question businessmen, after all! You've just gotta do as they say and take them at their words 100% of the time. What a crock of shit...
If big gov't is full of crap, why wouldn't big businessmen also be, to some degree?
WHAT "job-crushing tax hikes"?? A measly 5% increase in the PERSONAL income tax for those making over 250k?? A small tax on healthcare device manufacturers or tanning? WTF is this guy talking about?? THERE ARE NO JOB-CRUSHING TAX HIKES! Show me a single tax hike proposed by Obama that's AT LEAST 10 or 20%!! THOSE are what I'd call "job-killing", if anything. NOT a small-ass increase that the vast majority of folks won't even feel.
@whoo689 If you took a basic Macroeconomics class, you would know that businesses ship jobs overseas to avoid minimum wage stateside. Just because a person develops an effective product and builds a business out of it doesn't mean they should be punished because of a few big business men who worked the system. I mean, I agree that the whole regulation thing is bullcrap. One of the worst things we can do however, is assume that business owners are inherently evil without a regulator.
Are you gonna tell me the Big Tobacco bill Obama signed in Feb. or March of '09 "killed jobs"? Don't make me laugh. WHICH "job-killing regulations" are you referring to??? this is fucking bullshit! George Bush's OWN GOV'T passed plenty of regulations during his 8-year reign through various agencies, Congressional laws, etc. It's not like THEY weren't without regulation, but we still (supposedly) had great growth until late 2008.
I always find it very laughable how Republicans talk about "job-killing regulations", but THEY DON'T MENTION specificlaly WHICH jobs are being killed, which companies are doing the 'killing', and WHICH regulations they're referring to! They act as though it's "obvious to everyone." WHICH businessmen have you actually talked to that have said, "If you don't get rid of all these regulations, I can't hire anyone and will have to lay some folks off"?? Drag one onto the Congressional floor.
If business in this country REALLY isn't hiring because of "uncertainty", why aren't they speaking out about it more?? Why are they just being silent? Why haven't any of these Republicans gotten a single business owner to go on the floor of the House or Senate (if even for an hour or 2) to actually try to PROVE what they say is true and back up these ludicrous-sounding claims? I've never heard a single CEO say, "We laid off all these people b/c of excessive regulation."
The only ones fueling this right-wing garbage about "uncertainty" and "job-killing" regulations from Obama are moronic Republicans who apparently have NO IDEA how business actually works and only THINK they know b/c of ideology and their twisted view of economics.
What a joke! Go back to Utah, you poor excuse for a Senator. "$1.6 Trillion in new tax hikes" Uh yeah, if you're talking in just NUMBERS. But we have a $14 Trillion economy! And these are tax hikes that GO ACROSS THE ECONOMY. We're not just asking the richest 100 or so people to give up $1.6 Trillion straight.
WHAT "massive new federal regulations"? Let's see here. The Wall Street reform was a watered-down JOKE, cap and trade is STILL not passed, and the credit card bill? come on
@soLhunteR1 how is taxing the rich more than the poor a joke agenda? the rich have more, therefore, they should pay more from their funds. a flat tax on all classes will just extend the gap between them and stimulate no growth. Obama's trying to clean up a mess he inherited. Learn your shit, hillbilly, and drop your party's affiliation. They don't give a shit about your poor ass and you'll never make enough money to be like them.
@MarkCSII Dude, did you pay attention to the video at all? I think you should watch it again. He is talking about Obama's agenda not his! Obama's agenda includes taxing the poor not the rich. Please watch the video again. And there is no need to insult people over a dispute, if you cant argue with someone with out insulting them, then you will never change your view point. You have to argue with the idea of trying to understand the other person not just tell them what you think.
@MarkCSII I don't affiliate myself with ANY party because everything and every election is fixed. It doesn't matter what we do or vote, this WHOLE system is corrupt to the point where people just dont want to believe, ITS DISGUSTING. Everything is already planned YEARS ahead. We are headed to the biggest depression EVER!! Once we hit rock bottom, private bankers are ganna come and "save" us. That is when they will establish the New World Order and all hell will break loose. I DON'T VOTE.
"Plus he's a member of the moron religion." what a great bigoted comment RamenReturns. I bet you are the kind of person that would say "plus he is a ni**er" about Obama.
@daytona6750 I doubt he would - since Obama is a democrat - in moderm politics it is only acceptible to berate and deride those that do not agree with the so called 'progressive' democrats. - Surely you know there philosophy - "If you don't think like us then you must be an idiot or a racist or a bigot or a religious nut"
I'm disappointed to see Senator Hatch push the Party Line. Back when Ted Kennedy was a Senator they collaborated across party lines to create many important reforms. Both represented their parties well, but understood that to create change they needed to compromise.
The last thing we need is government to "get out of the way." We need bipartisanship and collaboration if we are going to figure out how to create a sustainable economy.
"Plus he's a member of the moron religion." what a great bigoted comment RamenReturns. I bet you are the kind of person "plus he is a ni**er" about Obama.
Last I checked, the highest growth in the world today is in state-funded green energy projects in China. They're smart enough not to let the capitalist system muck up their economy. I'm not a fan of the Chinese Government, but as far as economic growth goes, psuedo-marketeers like Senator Hatch don't have much of a leg to stand on.
@00maharum00ma China does have a rapidly growing GDP. But what is their average yearly wage? The Equivalent of just under $5,000. One of the main reasons for unemployment is our decision to have a minimum wage. It's not a bad thing but Democrats need to understand that businesses are going to want to employ resources incurring the least cost.
@00maharum00ma In china they also have millions in poverty that they don't spend a large chunk of their gdp on. Also, the reason they are becoming more successful is due to their shift TOWARDS capitalism because what capitalism is is not fat men in arm chairs with cigars but investing capital (money).
@s0nnyburnett Agreed. Plus, Hatch continues to quote Reagan's tired "shining city on a hill." slogan. Which is sad & funny for 2 reasons: Reagan said it over 23 years ago at the onset of his dementia/Alzheimer's disease, and Washington D.C. was in fact built on land-filled swamps.
How has he been in the Senate so long and NOT become corrupt and pro big government? Is he SUPERMAN? Wow. I love what I'm hearing from him. Maybe yanking Bennett out did something? Good job Senator Hatch- way to represent the PEOPLE of Utah. Well done sir!
