  • thank you Noreen, another great video! have wanted to make tarn for awhile, can't wait to try this !!

  • @alpacama1 Thank you :o) Normally, I stretch the t shirt on my swift, but I thought... what if someone wants to do this without a swift? So... I flipped over a stool and away I went. :o) A swift is faster and easier, but they are expensive.

  • havent seen this before, yea! a new way to use tshirts! have cut t shirt into strips. my friend needed something to go over a little black dress so we took a t and cut both sides off leaving a flap front and back hanging from the yoke, cut flaps into vertical strips and did kind of a macrame weaving in 2 inch silver metal rings here and there.she got loads of compliments on it. gave her boring black dress a kinda cool goth rock look

  • Tarn makes GREAT rag rugs!

  • @barabi51 It does indeed! :o)

  • Noreen, I'm not sure if you sill make it this way but I found an easier way to do this. Have you seen this? youtube.com/watch?v=ESQbELunPZg

  • @rigidheddleweaving Actually, as I said in the video, I use a swift to cut my t shirts into tarn- but using a chair works for people that don't have a swift. :o)

  • @NoreenCroneFindlay But there's no chair or swift involved with the other method I was wanting to show you...

  • @rigidheddleweaving :o) Yes, indeed! and it's really a neat way of doing it :o) Thanks so much for sharing the link- it's great!

  • @rigidheddleweaving When I try to copy and paste the URL into the address window, youtube goes to the main page for some reason. If that happens to you too, search for

plastic bag yarn/ making yarn from a tube

    The yt user is rockpoolcandy2

  • This would work really well in a knitting loom because it's thicker than a lot of regular yarn. The fabric will be more solid. It would be good woven on a peg loom too, for the same reason.

  • @kimadawest Absolutely! I weave with the tarn on peg and potholder looms and love love love the way it weaves. And, yes, it is great on spool knitters and knitting looms, too. :o)

  • i like your braclets! : )

  • @TheKittykat100 Thank you. I made the silver one a long time ago and the purple one is actually my celtic interlace spool knitted necklace wrapped around my wrist. The pattern is available at crone-findlaydotcom.

  • @NoreenCroneFindlay I think i'll go look at the patterns now,thanks!

  • @TheKittykat100 They're on the spool knitting page on my website :o)

  • @NoreenCroneFindlay ok, thank you

  • I have been wanting to do this for awhile. I think it would make a nice crocheted rug. fun idea

  • @yvonnevzp Yes, it does make great rugs!
