Simply love it . Once was teaching at Hapkido studio Tai Chi , the sensai there taught me to fight with a walking cane is so kool . I use to teach some of his black belts some basic Tai Chi lol they were my hardest students , to learn soft tecs.
Robert Sensei good news I used your wristlock techniques in my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament and got 3rd place in brownbelt absolute (no weight limit) category!!!!
Nice work. Zak is looking very comfortable with the boken. I like the positive energy exhibited in your classes too. Good tecnique + a little fun = great class.
Thank you Trevor. Zak is getting better every class. You can see he his hard work starting to show in his sword work. I will let him know you liked it. Take care bro.
Thanks for your kind comment my dear friend. I will be posting more on the use of the Jo and Sword, Tanto and other weapons. I wish you well Alex. Have a great day and many blessings to you and your family.
A Big hug right back at you from Kansas Alex. Peace, Robert
I love the Jo but im yet to understand how you do that nikyu. I mean most of the time a nikyu is done with the other hand as a cover to prevent uke from "escaping". Is there some sort off special angle or just pure speed?
Connection to Uke is the Key to this. Control his center. Take his balance and pin him and control. He won't escape because he is in the lock. The hand on the top is not even needed at higher ranks. I might shoot a video on this soon to explain. Thanks for your comment. Take care and God bless.
Robert that was probably my favourite video that you have done and hence put in my favourites . 5+ stars. I loved the jo work you did in the video. Your students did an excellent job too. Many law enforcement agencies teach the same technique that you demonstrated with the jo if their straight stick baton is grabbed by an assailant . A great video
Thank you very much Rick:) I will be doing more with the Jo and Ken. And some work with the Asp for those who can carry one. ( Some states they are legal to carry here.) Have a great day!
This looked like a great day of teaching the students Robert! 5 Stars to teacher and students. By the way I love this song have it in my library as well. All the best brother!
I find myself watching everybody's feet (as part of looking for parts of stances or katas for this martial art that might go into practice when sparring like this) but I cant see them. Akido is the other martial art (besides Uechi Ryu) that I would be interested in trying to learn/learn more of, and am curious about it.
Are the four points in the description like the 3 main principles I know for Uechi Ryu, like the 4 main rules for Akido?
