This is great! Hadn't heard it before the ToTP thing on BBC4.
Really great rockin' music with really great thumpin' drums.
Can't believe they didn't go on to bigger and better things - could've been a mega stadium band or something. I think the lyrics are really cool too. I like the bit about the gold larmay jumpsuit and gold larmay hair - very sexy. I'm getting a bit hot under the collar just thinking about it.
@ray3mondo It was produced by Roy Thomas Baker which would explain the Queen vibe. That's what I love about these old TOTPs, it's the ones you DON'T recall, not the over-familiar Abba, Real Thing, Brotherhood of Man stuff...
@BOBBY1976100 that's what I think - and the greatest tragedy they wiped nearly everything before 75/76 as the few that survive from before about 1973 show a programme actually hip and happening as well as interesting
@ancientraver19881989 It's heartbreaking that they wiped those shows. I did watch the UK Gold TOTPs in the early 90's and there were loads missing then. I am loving the BBC4 series, though. It's like being young again! In a funny way, I still the performers as they were then. It's easy to forget they're not! I feel like going out and getting the new Record Mirror!
@BOBBY1976100 Yep agreed. I just caught this whole episode on iPlayer. There is some real dross on there - including a naff girl group called Glamour Puss - and Noel Edmonds is at his excruciating worst as a public schoolboy trying to be funny. But there are some pearls as well.
@ray3mondo Such an ironic name, Glamour Puss! Not as bad as The Surprise Sisters a few weeks ago, though!
I always remember Noel Edmonds as one of the best 70s DJs, now I realise he was just as big a dick as Blackburn, Saville and co. Tonight's show wasn't the best, but Sunfighter moments abound in most of the shows. Just switch off before Demis Roussos!!
Fantastic. I bought this way back then (still have it in my collection) and loved it. Never saw this edition of TOTP, so thanx so much for posting it!!!

I don't remember this one at all. It's very Queen-like. I presume it sank without trace, but it's not too bad a tune.

have a demo version of this. it's a dead ringer for a queen single.
as a piece of pop history it's an overlooked gem.
is it reminiscent of "I'm in love with my car" to you?
