i was thinking of using a 400w hps light in small closet to grow a few vegtables in a closet during the winter months. Will this bulb make the closet too hot without ventalation. if i need ventilation, what would you recomend? and what about a 250w bulb? any feedback would be appreciated
im puzzled.. i just bought a 250watt sodium lamp, and, well firstly, the switch is screwed up, but secondly, when i finally got it to light, by tapping the switch...its not nearly as bright as i was expecting... its about as bright looking under the hood as your light ...but i was expecting..you know, ridiculously bright...its just a nice orangish glow...im not looking directly at the bulb, just the floor under the hood...is that normal?
@SilverlinerOV50 thats strange, my sodium bulb looks just as bright as yours, but when i fired up the mh bulb, it really was as bright as the sun, the floor looked like i had the back door open on a sunny day...anyway, happy light bulbing
I have the exact same set up. I bought a 150w hps kit on ebay thinking it might come kind of pre-wired. Well it didn't and I'm trying to figure out what wire goes were! Is there any way you can inform me on how you wired it OR point me in a direction that makes it idiot proof?
hey man help me out i need to know how to wire one of those up? i bought the bulb but dont have any of the other stuff help me out man i have 2 beautifull plants and im wanting to bud them with the hps bulb
Are those ballasts safe to use if they are not grounded

They do take about 4 min to warm up, but if it wasnt really bright there is some thing wrong .

Nice work. Where did you get that 70wat black thing?? I need something simple like that.

I put a 70w ballast into a project case. I think I got the case at Radio Shack. Not sure if they still carry it now.

Nice Video!......im still not a Big Fan of these Sodium lamps because of their color....try finding a mercury vapor lamp and ballast.
