It isn't his fault if people don't know that he didn't write it. He certainly has never made any claims that he did. And I'm sure Stephin Merritt is getting royalties from it, since he wrote the song.

I mean if you are one you must always play cool. I mean, if I was a "cool guy" and said "oh proposals are so lame" people would probably not accept my try to be cool.
