  • I love OCC. God bless them and the children

  • aww how beautiful this video is!! It brought me tears to see a smile on those kids faces when they recived those shoe boxes... God bless them all...

  • This is a wonderful Christan ministry. My family and I participate in this program every year through our church.

  • I don't think the kids receive the Christmas Boxes care about where it came from or who sent it. So a political debate on religion and politics is pointless. And petty.

  • I go crazy packing shoeboxes every year! It's so much fun picking out stuff for the boxes, and it's great knowing that you're helping a child. I do 3 or 4 boxes every year. I always do a younger kid since I like picking out little toys and stuff, and I also always make sure to do an older one (the 10-14 yr olds) because I've heard that not as many people do boxes for them. But yeah, Operation Christmas Child is a wonderful organization!

  • I love Operation Christmas Child! We pack boxes in Alaska too. It's amazing to think how God can use a simple shoebox gift to give a child hope and help them understand that God loves them.

  • i remember this it happens in school a teacher said were joining up with operaton christmas child i am so glad school had joined up with it

  • Charadester that was a fairly heartless comment. Of course straight donations to secular charities are of great benefit but so is Samaritans Purse's approach, which meets physical and spiritual needs. If you listen carefully to the clip, acceptance of literature is NOT a pre-requisite for aid and the joy of the children involved is so obvious - I have a friend who visited a home in Romania where the empty box was still prized , sitting on top of the fireplace a year after being received!

  • In the direct words of your CEO, the mission of Samaritan's Purse (SP) is to convert as many people as possible to your faith. Recent news exposed his exorbitant salary...more than twice the average for relief organizations twice the size of SP. He openly promotes military aggression as an 'appropriate' Christian response to conflict, something that doesn't even remotely resemble the teaching of Jesus. Given these observations, what conclusion might you expect someone to conclude about SP?

  • i did only one this year :/ at least 3 next !!! good luck kids ;)

  • I sent a box last year and am doing a few boxes this year, it is a fantastic idea.

  • im not relegious, but i think this is the best appeal. i work for a discount variety store in melb and kept having ppl come through buying dozens of small toys, stationery and personal hygeine things. curiously i asked one what it was for. she explained and i asked for the website. that was 4 days ago, today i delivered 3 boxes to the melbourne warehouse and became a volunteer. next yr i hope to make 10+ boxes, and encourage my work mates & school friends to make one too

    its just so great :)

  • thats fantastic! I love how this project breaks down barriers- what starts as a shoebox, opens doors for other assitance, such as education and health care XD

  • yeh i know! i worked at the warehouse for 4 hrs this morning and next ill do 5 hrs on thursday night. im fulltime at tafe so theyre the only hrs theyre open that i can get there to volunteer. its so much fun! i wonder if that lady mho lindly stopped and explained it to me, wrote down all the info, has any idea just how much she actually did by that small gesture.

  • who knows- but someitmes thats what giving is all about, doing something without expecting to see the results. Its true giving

  • yup. which is a lot more rewarding than anythig else, really.

  • (: You're a good person, jazz, don't let anyone say you're influence isn't as big as any religious person's. Its just as important- maybe more so. It prooves humanity isn't a total loss yet, that people from all walks and paths care.

  • thanks :D

  • What a great video. Each Fall, I anticipate OCC with excitement. And how joyful it is to watch as my little boys pick out items for the shoeboxes and pack them up. The joy of giving is wonderful. Next year we hope to make and provide shipping money for at least one shoebox per month, which would be two boxes for each boy/girl age division. Other good giving opportunities are Voice of the Martyrs and Mocha Club. Check them out if you like. God Bless.

  • Thanks for the +ve feedback guys and God bless you all for your involvement. It will bring the kids a lot of joy. Ill see if i can find this years promo and upload it

  • I made up a few of these shoeboxes last Christmas. Shopping for the things to put in them and making them up is a really enjoyable experience in and of itself. Thank you Samaritan's Purse.

  • Wow! I don't have a job yet, but I'm still going to do that this year. I want to do lots of shoe boxes..wow...

I guess the cool thing would also be watching the video in Heaven. I would love to see a box I sent make someone smile. :D

  • I think it is great to know how much the children appreat the box with small gifts in them. They good make me cry.

  • Woot! We're knitting scarves this year! and I hope to send a hygiene booklet about teeth (with a toothbrush)! God just loves OOC! I know I do!
