This is a good question. It is hard to figure out how many Jews died in Europe during the WWII. Victims were not only Jews, but Gypsies, Armenians, Communists, Italians(Hitler said to Mussolini, he would kill 10 Italians if one German got killed by Italian partisans) and even Germans who opposed the Hitler regime.

The Holocaust was significant because it was a planned extermination of an ENTIRE group of people. People still "dwell" on it because it shows the sick extent of human hatred.

You can't say that for a lot of celebrities, most are friends with you as long as you are hot. Do I think sober Mel knows better than to say such things? Yes. Do I think Mel shouldn't drink? Yes. Do I think he got drunk & said things doesn't really believe? And since he made the movie every move he has made has come under scrutiny. You may had ignored the movie, but the recent contempt for Mel did not start with the comments he made to the police officer. The subject of the crucifixion of Jesus is the most controversial in both sacred and secular arenas.

What alot of people have a hard time with, myself included, is history dwelling on the 6 million+ european jews killed in camps. What about the millions of women raped in europe during WWII? @bnigh5495 The Soviets under Stalin killed more Jews than Hitler and Nazi Germany but that isn't talked about, over all in Russia the Soviets killed more people the Nazis ever did. Stalin killed 10 million just in the Ukraine by starving them out, shipping/hording food over seas and to other parts of Russia. But it's always the Nazis that get painted as bad when there in fact was no "good guy" at all, just empires at war. The Jews are a coveted topic in America only because they own the media.

Victims were not only Jews, but Gypsies, Armenians, Communists, Italians(Hitler said to Mussolini, he would kill 10 Italians if one German got killed by Italian partisans) and even Germans who opposed the Hitler regime.

@bnigh5495 No one has forgotten about the rest that have died. WWII was made up of more than just the holocaust and I never heard anyone say that it wasn't. The Holocaust was significant because it was a planned extermination of an ENTIRE group of people. Whereas the others could be summed up as war crimes or casualties, people were actually being hunted across Europe for being something they couldn't change. People still "dwell" on it because it shows the sick extent of human hatred.

The Holocaust was aimed at those who had no way of defending themselves and were not a part of the opposition. And 6 million out of 50 is not a small percentage. Over 10% is not small: 0.1 % would be small.
With that said, I really don't care what people's beliefs are. As long as it's not affecting the well-being of others, it doesn't bother me.
