@with33 you have it the wrong way around look it up, carbon can be rusted very easily, but has way better edge retention and toughness, stainless steel is used in cheap knives because it is cheap to make and you don't have to put a coating on like you do with carbon blades, overall carbon steel will always have better edge retention and toughness

its shiny but i guarantee it aint sharp. need a 2 grit carborundum block, ceramic tile(broken toilet lids, you get the idea), and a leather belt to keep a knife sharp in an suburban or urban environment "survival" style. if you have to, you can skip either the block or the ceramic, but not both. i know for certain that you can sharpen a knife using nothing other than a tile running along the bottom of a domino's store floor, and you could shave with it. this guy is trying, but fails.

This is a compact survival knife sharpener that is easily carried in the draw next to the sink in the RV when you get off the beaten track and you don't have your full set of japanese water stones with you.
