I love AC and I just thought it was funny. You guys getting all pissed off can't take a joke. OBVIOUSLY Animal Collective has a songwriting quality that completes their sound, but really, if they released this with some crazy drumming and oddly timed lyrics, you'd be jizzing over the artistic statement.

Honestly i think the dude that made this has no idea about how intricate Animal Collective's music really is, and how much creativity and musical genius they put into their music. I'd like to see this guy running several MIDI controllers, and harmonize with other vocals and make it sound half-way good.

I don't usually bother even signing in to comment on things as trivial / ridiculous as this...but you put jimi hendrix and james mercer into the same sentence and expect anyone to take your opinion on music seriously? hmmm...And yes, in your "studio" you should record the rest of the parts of this song, then post your results, I would love to hear it. This is like playing a basic blues progression and claiming it's all there is to being jimi hendrix. Oversimplification = lack of understanding.

@indierickenbacker I see you mention hendrix as one of your favourites, and I would say the exact same thing about him. He certainly wasn't the greatest singer or guitar player, and the melodies isn't difficult to play.. But he had an interesting approach to it. And thats what animal collective is all about for me.

@indierickenbacker I laughed pretty good while watching this. They do use a lot of arpeggioator on MPP. however, i do not agree to your point of view. Good music isn't necessarily bad because it's easy to play, or vice versa. Animal collectives music isn't about technique or musical training.

Hahaha AC is my favourite band but I have to admit that this was good for a chuckle. People can argue whether they're pretentious or not, but whatever... If you like the music then enjoy it. If you don't, make a funny video for youtube and let the blood boil. People on the interwebs just can't take a joke.

@indierickenbacker Internet tuff guy? Honestly, i'm not the one posting videos dismissing a band like A.C. Call them what you want "pretentious", "IMpenetrable" or "crap", but you can't act like what they do isn't incredibly complex. They're a lot more than 3 chords and an arpeggiator.

@Davetate It's not complex in the slightest. If you want complex electronic music, listen to Telefon Tel Aviv. If you want purely complex music, listen to Bach.
Seriously, watch what they do while playing their music - Hardly anything. It's as simple as starting a song on your computer. It's not complex. The sound isn't even that "full" or "big" in terms of the atmosphere created. It's utter garbage.

Since when did music be started to be judged on the difficulty of execution? On My Girls, there are about 4 chords that's being played throughout the song, and I like that due to the place the band chose to use them at. What about people who write songs on lap-tops like Kashiwa Daisuke?It's great music when you hear it, what when you realize that it's all computer Does it decrease the quality?

I was merely commenting on the "complexity" of the music.
I don't deny that music does not have to be complex to be good (incredible even), but I will not agree that AC is "incredibly complex" as Davetate has claimed.
