Could some who is familiar with the M2 tell me why does the US military still use this weapon when there are more modern alternatives available? In Finland, we use a version of the 12.7x107mm NSV, which is gas rather than recoil operated, has double the rate of fire of an M2 and also longer effective range enabling the use in both ground and AA applications. Is M2 still just good enough to not to be replaced?
