So continueing real quick, if you use a gun depending on where you are, if he is wounded, ran away, or dead, you will be pressed with charges as well unless you're somewhere like texas.

In some areas hand to hand is your best option and even doing that can get you a criminal record.

Remember, we live in a society where if a man trips when breaking into your house, he can sue you for breaking his leg on your property >_>

And by the way to all gun comments. many states have strict restrictions on firearms. Some such as, you can not carry them on you, or you can not have a loaded fire arm on you, or the gun must be locked away separatly from the ammunition if it is with you, or you may not possess a gun, or if someone is in your house pointing a gun at you you still have no right to even say you have a gun (thats a legit thing by the way)

Sounds like me. Okay, he was a skinny guy, but he was strong, much more stronger than me, I think. He said I'm not fast enough to defend myself or avoid attacks. He wanted to prove it, and he ended up with an almost broken nose. He couldn't do anything else but grabbing his nose becasuse of the pain. (I'm saying again I wasn't too strong back then. I was only twelve years old!)

And I want to start learning Wing Tsun or wushu...

People talking about buying guns: tel me where in the begining she has time to go for her purse, take out gun, load it and shoot attacker "to the knee" as you say. Gun gives you the fakest security feeling you can have. Any MA (not only WT) is much better than gun. My workmate had telescope and pepper spray with him and stil ended in hospital beaten, not able to work 4 weeks. You want to be able to defend yourself, go to MA school. When you know how to fight unarmed, then maybe buy the gun....

People should educate themselves by checking out the US DoJ publication BJS. wing chun is generally considered as "traditional wing chun" where its taught as applications. Genreally Wing tsun is more "scientific wing chun" where the concepts and body mechanics are taught. Traditional wing chun usually involves blocking... if done correctly (scientificly) there is no blocking.

but the problem with solutions such as those is that it can be used against you just as easily so I believe it to be very important for women to take self defense no matter where you live because although it may not be common in your area it still happens everywhere whether you wish to admit this or not, it changes nothing.
