@Mjarf88 When you continually shoot your gun, (Ususally longer than about 4 seconds) it will wear down the gearbox, effectivly ruining the gearbox in a fast manner.
@TakZach Well, yeah, firing your gun for 5 seconds puts more wear on it than firing it for 1 second, but it's not like it will eksplode if you fire it for longer than a couple of seconds. In extreme cases you might burn out the motor or the switch i guess. The gearbox will fail eventually, no matter how careful you are, so might as well have some fun while it's still works. ^^
@Mjarf88 Look, I've been into airsoft for a LONG time. I KNOW it'll eventually burn out, but why not prolong it? It's stupid, and unless you feel like taking apart that gun (Which is absolute hell) and buying a new gearbox, for a 23 second video... It seems pointless.
@TakZach I've also been into airsoft for several years, and i love tinkering with those gearboxes, so it's not a big issue for me if the gearbox breaks. ^^

I agree. I have to admit my Famas did emit a burning smell from the motor when it was new. 7 years on though with plenty of abuse including using it as a kind of support weapon emptying hicaps in seconds. It is still firing perfectly.
Although it did need a new spring due to normal compression loss to boost fps.
well i can tell you that after a year or so your hop up plate is likely to go bust,i have one of the Tokyo Marui models myself great gun i have been airsofting for about 5 years had it for 3 and kept in good condition as i said hop plate was the only problem i have encountered yet
and for the record people, this isnt abuse, if he has the right parts in the famas, then the gear box shouldnt burn out. my uncle has a T.M P-90 and and holds the trigger like a mini-gun. he had it for 2 years and the gear box is still in good condition.
@MrManiac64 if you are speaking from a real steel standpoint, it might sound rediculous, but an airsoft gun can fail if you fire it too long on full auto
