  • I have a 66 with a 289 and a 4 speed stick. How do i know If it's the HiPo version or not?

  • @hazzardousduke94 The engine code on the side will be marked with a k

  • Whats the MPG on it.

  • lucky guy

  • Comment removed

  • i should put nut sack dice on my 66 just for laughs when the car shakes.

  • i want that steering wheel, or just a normal steering wheel, i have a 66. if anyone has a 66 steering wheel black or blue please let me know. ill buy

  • u can't ever get tired of that sound congrats on the car

  • doesn't the 12' mustang v6 have 300 HP?

  • like it! building a 289 now, k code inlet k code headers 4 bbl autolite with the cam reground close to 351 specs. your motor sounded happy!I also have "armstrong steering" and no air conditioning. though I am keeping the 4 wheel drum brakes also the no power assist. thank y for sharing. keep the legend alive, imagine that car in 65! down here I know the Australian equivalent was 6 cylinder power only!

  • how does it ride on the hw?

  • sounds like somebody keeps cutting the blunkers

  • @AMmuscle442

I have been reading that the 4 speed toploader can handle a lot more horsepower and torque than the fox body T5. What is your opinion on this?

  • @jpgbrookes People have told me that the 4 speeds are better for high horsepower and high torque than 5 speeds. I didn't want a 5 speed because it wasn't original to the car for that year. I built this with a few toys but mostly with stuff that would have been put in it in 65. Back then people would have put the exact same toys in it considering that everyone was souping up cars then so really it's modified in the same way some kid would have in 65. It's a re-created hot-rod Mustang.

  • THROW THOSE FUCKIN DICE OUT THE WINDOW

  • this car is so hot you need air conditioning

  • It's pointless holding left leg on clutch when the shifter is in neutral ;)

  • seems awful slow for a k code 289,my ole wore out a code 289 was much faster

  • I lay 1000 buck that's no hi po.... Until I see it turn over 7gs on a tach it's no hi po

  • @countryismyrock0 It is a HiPo. The engine code on the side is K and it does have the original paperwork and documentation.

  • what shifter do you have?

  • Excelent job, sweet ride no doubt......

  • Thanks for posting - it is really beautiful.

  • Now that was a real treat.. and then some! Thanks mate for that!

  • Thanks for the video! A little background: My dad bought his first car, a 66' Mustang coupe in 1970. My parents went on their first date in that car (still happily married) and I inherited at age 15 and drove it through high school. I am now 25 and have it at my house. I am about 75% done with the auto to toploader conversion, after which I will toss the keys back to my dad (he has no idea). I have much work to do but your video helped to push me to compete it. Thank you.

  • thanks we actually just fixed it and got the flywheel turned just for good measure and it works just fine now. Love your car, very kick ass!

  • I love this car, when i get some more cash flow coming in i will want to buy myself one also

  • SWEET I have this exact car but more of it is original just bought a original rally pack for it on ebay i like how you did the shifter.

  • We used to have a 1966 K code GT convertible. My father never researched the numbers so he never knew what he had before he sold it. I found the original copy of the title and I looked into the VIN when I was restoring my 1966 (which I dumped because it was a 6), and it was a pretty rare 1966 mustang. Oh well. Live and learn.

  • @lakeangel100 oh no doubt I would eat shit compared to your truck. I'm not looking to win any races...yet. Maybe in the future but not right now. It's just a fun car for me.

  • @lakeangel100 lmao i almost thought you were serious for a minute lol

  • @lakeangel100 ya but you drive a silverado you get no pussy with that shit !

  • @lakeangel100 700hp and 26miles to the gallon something doesnt sound right there lol's and its a 9 speed

  • @lakeangel100 why would you talk so fuckin stupid who the fuck cares about your 1983 chevy truck this is a video about a classic car not a piece of shit 80's vehicle don't even compare your junk to this car

  • @lakeangel100 words fall from your mouth as shit from ass

  • @lakeangel100 and? Who cares if you've got a quicker car? Oh and learn how to spell, wtf is a "mustane"?

  • @lakeangel100 Cool story bro hahahaha your truck definately sounds like a daily driver.. oh wait no it doesnt. Id rather have this mustang than your truck.

  • @lakeangel100 you are real ass

  • @lakeangel100 you are a true dumb ass if you put a so called "9 speed" in a shitbox 83 Silverado. They don't make 9 speed trannys. You can't get that kind of mileage out of a silverado unless it's a V6. This is not a race car. It's a show car. Comment to someone who actually gives a shit dude. Learn something about cars while you're at it as well and then buy a real muscle car instead of a truck.

  • Update 9/19/11: I did install power steering in the car. I will make a separate video of that later.

  • i am restoring a 65 mustang too it has a 200 inline six and a three speed right now but i am hoping to find a hi po 289 and a 4 speed to put in it . how long did it take you to build yours?

  • I personally only like one american car and that's the original mustang other then that I'm all European cars

  • Am I the only one who creamed my pants when he stepped on it???

  • Ive got a 65 Ranchero (falcon) wich is pretty mutch the exact same as a mustang and my clutch is doin exactly what yours is doing. How did you fix it? Also my clutch shakes the car when you go to start at a dead stop, im thinking warped flywheel or something, what do you think? BAD ASS CAR MAN!

  • @IommiFan70 it could just be that you're letting off the clutch too fast although it could also be a warped flywheel. At first I thought the spring was too weak so I replaced that but then I adjusted it by turning the arm (not sure what the name of the part actually is but you adjust it with a crescent wrench) and it actually is supposed to have about an inch of play in it. So after all that I got it to where it needed to be. That's how I fixed it.

  • my only complaint is not about the car. It is the "Well youtube.Got a real treat for you here today". You say nearly the exact same in the first video and it makes you seem somewhat "smug". Like I said that was it. The car looks good. Glad to hear the clutch is fixed. I can see how that can hamper the fun of driving the car at times in the city.

  • @Dan138bigd you're absolutely right. It does seem a little smug. I won't do that anymore. I just didn't know what else to say.

  • nice car man, even if some one has negative comments to say about it, who cares. its your car and you love it, who cares if there are some flaws in it (not saying there are) your proud of it and thats all that matters. a true car persone can apreciate your hard work, every one else cna buzz off.

  • Thanks for the ride! What was the problem with your clutch pedal? Did you fix it and what was required?

I have an Ivy green 65 K-code GT coupe that I love as well.

  • Nice car. Not a fan of red tho it's over uses. Im working on restoring a 65 myself 3 speed manual were putting a 302 in it 4 barrel carb. Might go with an exhaust like yours. Mines one of 14000 65s made with a bench seat instead of buckets. Going to paunchy yellow with black stripes am

  • you shouldnt hold the clutch in when at a stop. when in neutral you dont need to. your ganna burn it up man

  • you said it has a k code eng. but in you vids. you said it has a roller cam all k codes were solid lift cams

  • @706jdean That's because when NAPA in Medina rebuilt the engine they put roller cams in it along with the high rise Edelbrock manifold.

  • all good, great car!!!

  • By the way, the clutch has been fixed.

  • Yeah the glasspacks are pretty loud but I would recommend the Flowmaster 40 series exhaust because it has more of that classic Mustang baffle kind of sound. I'm gonna swap out the glasspacks for a 40 series in the near future.

  • are them glasspacks and side pipes loud because im getting the same exhaust set up

  • im jealous
