Basic advice, but solid information. I have a 50 ft yawl, when short handed in a good breeze I will drop the main before nightfall and bounce along at reduced speed. Easier to raise the main after coffee in the AM, than trying to reduce sail in the dark in worsening conditions. The take away message slow and steady, get there in one piece without breaking something.
