I am thankfull everyday that I lived in such an era of freedom defended from the self loathing privelidged white liberals pchychotics that would have found some reason to be offended by this amazing poetry
A note to all right-wing conservative Christian Fundamentalists: "I don't believe you , you have the whole damned thing all wrong, he's not the kind you have to wind up on Sundays..."
@TheAwakenedMage - an interesting perspective from you. Thanks for sharing that. Although it made me feel a little old I still enjoyed reading your comment. Cheers from one who bought the album when it was first released. ; )
When this first album came out, I think it taught me more about the difference between "God vs. Religion" than anyone, or anything, had before. I believed in Ian Anderson's message then, and still do today. An EPIC album!
Absolutely. I've read many comments about the album "Aqualung". At the time i was 15 yrs and now at 56 yrs this was as influential if not more so than Sabbath and Zep. My music went more jazz fusion in 72' I now revisit Jethro Tull in 2011
and forgot what I missed. Ian Anderson was more influential than I previous thought. Long live Jethro Tull, Peace and Love.
@rogolf2 This album is a masterpiece. I am a 45 year old Christian who hates all that the church has done. Just so you know Tony Iommi played in Tull for a while.
@CP353017 Agreed. Iommi was really nothing more than a "try-out" for replacing Mick Abraham; and was with with Tull for a VERY brief period. He was never an "official" member of the band.
@Revolution1117 Just an FYI; you can see Iommi with Tull on the DVD "The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus", in which the group (all but Ian's vocals) mimed "A Song For Jeffrey" in December 1968. It was just "by chance" that Iommi was with Tull at the time the Circus was first aired, even though Iommi didn't really play "live" on their performance. Tull could have really had ANYONE stand in as a guitarist during the taping of the show, given that the music was "pre-recorded".
@rogolf2 I'm in agreement sir....you and I are the same age AND in my teens when learning music (specifically drums, while "worshiping Clive Bunker," Tulls' early drummer) they made the same influence and impression upon me, too. That is, compared to so many of the other great bands of the time. /:o]
I was 11 when I started listening to big brothers Aqualung album. I always thought wind up was because it was the last song on the album. It was a few years later that I even understood the commentary on organized religion throughout this album. Over the years it has ended up my favorite Tull song.
awesome lyrics and music.

@87cadillachearse
Since when was pointing out a fact being a douche? Tony Iommi played precisely 1 show with Jethro Tull

C'mon Tull people, weigh in, spread the word, introduce a child to TULL.
Music doesn't have to be lifeless and meaningless.
