i had the same problem. plug the ipod into the computer first, open itunes, then put the ipod in recovery mode, then a message will come up asking you to restore it. worked for me.

due you have burnt down your ipod hardware because xbox 360 has a bigger voltage than as the ipod. as you kept the ipod for so much time there your ipod could hold on to a bigger voltage as it was assinged. resuming you f**** your ipod down

Hey guys, I followed DoubleS0312's suggestion about holding the Menu and Top button down for 20-30 seconds, I held mine for like :45 to a minute and it started right up. So if the first time it does not turn on if you press it for like 10 or so seconds, press them for a minute or longer and it SHOULD start. I have this same exact ipod.

i fixed my ipod a different way, i just plugged it into a different computer than i had my library on and it went through all the menus of like "would you like to start a new folder" and such, then before it did i just unplugged my ipod and it magically turned back on. and mind you my battery was not dead, i charged it for 3 days prior

Thanks you so much for your support as of now one of my ipods has recovered from this from a recent brick i e ipod gen 3 from makeing it go to sleep it reawoke but then bricked but this process fixed this problem my gen 2 almost worked but it only showed a thin black line none the less i am starting to hate ipod the 3 gen is not mine but the way but thanks alot :)

ur wc. but as i know a lot of my friends ipod gen 2 and gen 3 have alot of prob like urs, when play some song, it stop playing, hang and etc...i think ipod quality not as good as the first it build, for example like my elders brother ipod, his ipod works great, no hang and etc....
