I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
just got mine its a 76 standard with a beautifully rust free body planning turbo and intercooling it with a eggshell leather interior and red paint. I like what youve done with yours tho i might steal some ideas. i just have one question ... where did you get all your parts? im looking for engine parts and i would love some suggestions on where to look
i got all my parts for everythingfiat they have an online store as well as an ebay store. Another place where you will find tons of parts is Midwest X1/9. Matt Brennon is very helpful if you need anything there.
Very cool of you to do that for your dad. My dad had congestive heart failure and was sick for a long time. I could not get him out of the house. So, I decided to give him something to do. I bought an old c4 corvette with high miles. It need a bunch. I started putting it back together and after I was done we were out cruising during the weekends and enjoying life again.
not to sure about that leak, i do no that those pipes are alot of work to replace. they tend to rust, being under the car and all. since the motor is so loud esp. with my new flowmaster exhaust, i had to cut some holes in the panels, and place speakers as well as behind the head rests as well. they work like a charm. the amp is located between the seats.
there are speaker holes precut in the thin panel below the rear window ,put knife /driver under from front edge and tilt up to reveal ,also wire from spare wheel area ,you do not need to send wires into engine compartement
I didn't see you pull up the emergency brake, and I was waiting for the car to start rolling away! LOL... My dad had a used one when I was in 1st grade. He could drive my older sister & I to school in it, because I was small enough to fit in the "backseat". (That was obviously LONG before seat belt laws!)
Beautiful! Hi I was wondering if you might have some advice for me? I have a leak in the pipe that runs from the radiator to the water pump! The pipe will have to be replaced I think! Do you have any ideas?
put copper pipes through inside original pipes, cheapest way ,my car runs fine with these, the hole outer section has to have the spotwelds removed, when your rich! as the pipes dont pull out
if you look really close, the speakers are behind the headrests, and they are also and the far end of the door panels. they get about 35% covered by the dashboard when the door is closed, but thats no bid deal.

Where did you end up installing the speakers... that's what I've been trying to decide on for mine.
