@pimpinthruco It is very easy to remove back metal plate, I replace about 10 digitizer and every time I remove metal plate, there are about 4 small screws (3 in back and 1 in front) you have to remove it.
does anyone know if the trackpad is suppose to sit flush with the glass, above or below? I just replaced the screen but the button is slights below the glass whole or half way... if that makes sense! PLEASE let me know
great video but don't be fooled, it's a lot harder than it looks because of all glue for the glass and display. Also if you're doing that, your glass is probably shattered, so it doesn't come off as 1 piece. When I did the glass separated from the display and I wasn't sure I could get the display out (to unhook the cable behind), I also have what seemed like 3 extra pieces laying around that fell off and it took me a while to figure where they went - still 1 'extra' small rubber plug. Oh well...
@3MonkeyD I assume the connection from the digitizer to motherboard was checked? That is the most common issue. I would suggest contacting the seller of the part directly for more troubleshooting ideas if the connection is good.
@awesomejoseph15 The flashing is likely just a connection issue on the LCD screen. The non-responsive buttons would likely be caused by the touch screen connection not being fully in place. I would double check these connections.
@RepairsUniverse i literally redid the whole process at least 3 times. every time the screen just flashes and the touch buttons are unresponsive. i checked all the connections and the were fine. the LCD barely has any adhesive material and its not that stuck to the screen. please help
@awesomejoseph15 Flashing basically means that a connection is either not fully in place or the flex cable cannot relay the data (usually caused by a rip or other damage). Is it possible the LCD screen or LCD flex cable was damaged while preforming the repair?

@djlewis103 What it is, is the metal back housing that u bend up to connect the digitizer is bent up to much and it's pushing the digitizer to far from the sensor. As you can see if u apply pressure to the digitizer while in a call the screen will light back up. The fix is to get black electrical tape and apply some around the sensor so know light gets in. Try that. That problem made me so frustrated but after applying the black tape it works fine. Let me know what happens

Dear RepairUniverse Team...please, i'm begging your help. I though my HTC HD Mini (HTC Aria, but running WinMo) was the best phone ever...untill 1 month ago. My GPS just stopped to work. Do you know what could be the issue? There's a way to fix it? I'm from Brazil and HTC doesnt offer technical support in here...i'm desperate...i'm missing the GPS function so much...could you help me? thanks in advance!
@CIaudioBrito A few possible things this could be. But first - does the device have any history (water damage, previous repairs, etc)?
Normally this can be caused by a loose connection. I would suggest disassembling to the motherboard and checking all connection to be sure they are fully in place. This includes the wires found at 2:22 and connection on the motherboard flex cable (the upper flex cable with the camera, etc).
@RepairsUniverse I found the Proximity Sensor and it did not appear to be covered by any adhesive. Could it be a problem with the part, or a problem with lining the dots on the screen precisely up with the prox sensor? Now when I place a call I can get the screen to stay on if i put it in direct light. As soon as the phone is in a shadow (meaning not direct sunlight) the screen again goes blank...
@djlewis103 Sounds like a possible alignment issue then. Basically if the prox sensor does not have a clear view this is normally the effect. If it is half covered then it will take more light for it to understand it is not near your ear, etc. I would mess with the alignment a bit and make sure the sensors have a clear view through the holes on touch screen. You are almost there!
Wish I had seen this - Had my phone in the repair shop for 5 weeks had it back for a few hours and now I find what the problem is - Going to email them now and tell them how to fix it - So i will have my phone back in less than 5 weeks!
@sharthejoysheila No problem at all. I do believe we have a guide specifically for the Aria earpiece in our channel as well, may be useful. Good luck!
I just replaced my screen on my HTC aria.. there is a part that fell out , and i don't know where the piece goes. It is a small black gasket looking piece.. also when someon calls me they can hear me, but i can not hear them.. guess i have the ear piece in wrong or what else could my problem be.. Thank Sheila..
@sharthejoysheila What size is the gasket? Normally these go around the motherboard or camera. I would check that area, but normally these gaskets will not effect usability of the device. As for the hearing issues, yes, this is the ear speaker. I would suggest making sure the speaker is in correctly and not upside-down. Also be sure the metal contacts from the speaker are making full contact with the flex cable's metal contact. This is likely the issue.
@stewarthousehold Adhesive strips are suggested, these are cut to fit. We have a great guide in our channel for this - "Touch Screen Assembly". The adhesive we use is perfect for these touch screens and can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com, but others are available if you are looking for a quicker fix. Thin double sided tape can work as well.
@shanimouzon This is the LCD screen that is not functioning. Likely the part is fine, just a bad connection from the LCD flex cable to the motherboard. I would suggest checking this connection to be sure it is fully in place, without damage.
@stewarthousehold Hmm, could be a few things - unsure where you bought the part from, but if it is not OEM then there can be quality issues such as this. Another less likely possibility is that the connection is not fully in place. What kind of adhesive was used to attach the screen?
Ive got a little bit of a problem. I did all of the steps and pretty much 95% of everything works great. The only thing is that when I get a phone call or I call someone, its very slow, and the screen goes completely black. and I can't end the call because the screen is black until the other person finishes the call and it goes right back to the home screen. I also can't change it to speaker, because when it is in call mode, it only stays black, so I can't use my phone while talking. HELP! PLZZ
@icnyouthbasketball The reason for this is the proximity sensor has been covered. Basically the sensor is continually seeing black (as it is covered by adhesive) so it assumes the phone is still up to your ear. You will need to disassemble and clear the small holes (different color than the rest of the touch screen). I would suggest watching our "Touch Screen Assembly" video - this will walk you through the process.
ok, i was able to replace the screen and put everything back together and it turns on and the screen works, the only problem is it says i need to insert a sim card but it is already in. I have tried the old paper wedge trick with no luck, please help!
@TheBlackCricket I would suggest checking the motherboard and area around the sim card for loose connections or damage. It is likely a simple connection error, but unsure the exact connection.
I've got a bit of a problem. I change the screen like in the video, but when i turned on the phone again, the speaker of the phone didn't work. You can speak in the phone but cant hear the answers from the person in the other end. is it the speaker you take of in the video at 3.34?? How can i repair the phone??
@Nickmoritzen Yes, that is the earpiece speaker. Likely just a bad connection. Be sure the metal contacts from the speaker are lined up correctly with the metal contact points on the flex cable. If it still does not function properly, replacing the speaker may be required, these are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
At 2:20, there are two cables in the top left - one blue and another grayish - do these go to the battery? i want to mod my Aria to work with a Touchstone and i want to know if these are the positive and negative connectors to charge the battery - or are the nodes next to the microusb input the ones im looking for - any ideas?
the thing is the battery sticker is not completely pink, but looks like a smudge so I'm not sure, and I see when you take out the digitizer its so easy but the freakin cable is stuck in mine :( is there a public email I can send the pic of my battery to and maybe get diagnosed? thanks so much for your help
@gamer4615 You can follow the video and you will have access to the motherboard. I do not believe cleaning it will do it any good if it was water damaged. If you would like to try though, use Q-tips and a small bit of alcohol.
@gamer4615 An easy way to tell is to see if a computer will recognize it. The blue tool is called a "safe open pry tool". These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
The water damage can be an issue. Possible the motherboard was damaged and is causing no power to be transferred. Pretty difficult to tell from afar. A local repair shop may be able to provide more information.
@toooooooooooooooooby This is caused by an obstruction to the light sensor. Sometimes adhesive is placed over these sensors (on the touch screen) and once the sensor is activated it will not deactivate because no light is being shown. Check out our "Touch Screen Assembly" video in our channel for more information about this.
dang it, i got 2 digitizers from a hong kong seller on ebay. the accuracy of the touches are very off if the digitizer is snug with the case. the proximity sensor is also intermittently non-functional. i can't figure out why, there is no obstruction of the sensor. when i re-install the original cracked digitizer, there is no problem at all with functionality. will ask my mom if she wants to try buying it here or just renew her contract for a new phone
@1stb1 Sorry to hear. BEWARE of aftermarket screens, they are made of inferior material and will only cost you more in the long run. Always buy original parts, such as the ones at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. Plus we are located in the US, which makes shipping and customer service much simpler. Hopefully you can resolve the issue with your Aria. If you have any questions, be sure to let us know!
When I took the piece containing the power button off, a small (about an 1/8 inch)square-ish rubber piece and a flat black piece with a small tail fell out. Any idea where these go so I can reassemble the phone? Thanks.
@myrtlesc I know some pieces are loosely connected to the power button assembly. I cannot get to specific as exact location, but just look for old spots where they appear to fit, such as markings or light adhesive.
@myrtlesc it could be the padding that goes around the camera, that's the only little part that i can think of up there. there is the earpiece, that has 2 little metal leads sticking out the back
@myrtlesc that happened to me too, was the flat black piece sticky? if so, i just put it back on top of the hard square piece. Also, the long rubber piece should go on before you put the piece containing the power button back on. It's where your ear touches when you are on the phone (idk how to describe it lol)
the adhesive made it a pain to separate the parts >:( thought i was going to break it. anyway, thank for the video. digitizer is replaced and working. phone seems to function as before. only part i hate is i can never get all of the dust off the transparent surfaces before i put everything back together. maybe i have a dusty room.
@1stb1 Good work. But yes dust is always an issue. Doing it in a less dusty room and cleaning the screen prior (preferably with a microfiber cloth) is your best bet to avoid this situation again.
@1stb1 dang it, the digitizer stopped working a few hours after i replaced it. touches register in the wrong place no matter what i try. cleaning it, reconnecting the cable. put the cracked old one back in and it works fine. the ebay seller i got it from doesnt accept returns but accepts exchanges. hope the next one works
This video was a great help in replacing the touchscreen. After the replacement The phone won't start up anymore. When charging the led light goes on and turns green once fully charged but the phone is dead.
@lokilokeren Does it sound like the phone is starting? Chimes, etc? If so, it is possible the LCD connection is just not fully in place, or the cable has been damaged. Take a look and make sure all connections are snugly in place. If the phone just completely shuts off, I would still suggest the same thing, likely the simple solution.
I just changed my HTC aria screen but now the wifi is very unstabile and doesnt work most of the time and when I call someone or someone calls me I can't hear what they are saying, but they can hear me. How can I fix those problems?
@awesomegurl1939 These are pretty normal issues after a screen replacement on the Aria for some reason. Usually very simple fixes though. For the WiFi, make sure all the antenna cables are fully connected. The issue with hearing the other caller is due to a bad connection to the ear speaker. Check to make sure the ear speaker is making a full connection to the metal contacts. Also, a quick note, you should be able to put the call on speaker phone to communicate until you disassemble.
I'm having a small problem with my touch screen. I used this video to fix it and it worked fine for about a month. Now my touch screen is acting up. It touches in different places than what i'm trying to do. What could the problem be? I went back in to make sure everything was secure and didn't find a problem.
@capricorn11j2 Could be an issue with the flex cable or touch sensors. If everything visible seems good then I would contact the supplier and get the screen tested.
@Supraboosted The Aria needs a Tri-Wing screwdriver, has a few other names, but that is the most common. And the blue tools are safe open pry tools. Both are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
@kflynnize Sounds like an issues with the touch screen digitizer's flex cable not being fully in place to the motherboard connection, or a rip/damaged flex cable. You will need to disassemble and make sure the touch screens connection is fully in place and secure.
Hello. Please help me!!! I got my aria's phone screen replaced after i dropped it and the screen cracked. ever since that my signal has not been working at all! I recently went to new york and it worked there but back in California it doesnt! We have already tried to talk to ATT and even whenn i switch sim cards intoo my old phone it wworks but not with the aria. Please h elp? Thank you very much
@IndoJoke There are a few possible things I would suggest checking. I would double check the antenna cable connection. At 2:20 in the video you can make sure both are fully in place, then follow them up and make sure they are fully connected on the top section. That is the most likely reason and is normally a quick check. Good luck!
@donnanguyen86 I believe there are two reasons why this is happening. Was the light sensor covered with adhesive? Please check our "Touch Screen Assembly Video" for more information on this. For the audio issue, I suggest checking the connection of the speaker. We do have a speaker replacement video on our channel , specifically for the earpiece speaker. Hope these helps and you can resolve these issues.
hi. sorry, I broke only the extternal glass, not the touchscreen...I buy from You the gasket in order to take off only the glass...but have I to do all You do in this video, or I have only ( from the front ) take out the first glass?
@00SoParanoid00 - What I would like to know is if the digitizer and the external glass have something to be so attached....I bought from You the gasket...is that one that I have to use?
@00SoParanoid00 You will need to replace the glass touch screen digitizer. The outer glass is the same as the touch screen. You cannot remove from the front, although that would be much easier, because of the flex cables holding in place. You will need to follow the guide to replace the screen. The digitizer for the Aria is available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
@RepairsUniverse yes...I have the touchscreen digitizer...and I bought from You the gasket ( the one you "broke" on 4'29" ) and I don't know how re-put it on...thanks
@chaneykid15 It is not a difficult repair. Follow this guide and you should be able to replace the screen. Check RepairsUniverse (dot) com for replacement screens for the Aria.
@RepairsUniverse thank you very much for your response. i replaced the screen, everything works fine except that i can not hear the other person while they hear me. aqdditionally, when i call the screen is dark (like the sensor is not working). any ideas?
@kriti78 Does the loud speaker work fine (swapping to speaker)? If so, the earpiece speaker connection may not be fully connected. The reason the screen goes dark is because the light sensor has been covered or blocked (possibly by adhesive). Check out the "Touch Screen Assembly Guide" in our channel for an example of proper adhesive placement. Good luck!
@fstohl When replacing the glass touch screen digitizer. You need adhesive to create a secure bond. We have the adhesive strips at RepairsUniverse (dot) com
i just replaced my digitizer. the screen works but when i placed a call the phone completely cut off. once i cut the phone back on i no longer had any coverage. What went wrong??
@jljordan06 Tough to say exactly. Opening your Aria back up and checking around the antenna wire, ect would be my first place to look. Check for loose connections. If you can't diagnose the problem then let us know and I'll try to walk you through a few other steps. Good luck!
@jljordan06 Because there is no coverage available, it is likely either the antenna or antenna cable. The antenna cable may seem in place, but loose, or not fully connected. This is a common issue. Be sure to firmly press the cable connection in place. If you still have an issue, you will likely need to speak with a tech to get the issue resolved.
I'm having trouble getting the top part with the power button off. I don't want to break anything and it feels like it's stuck. Is that simply adhesive or is there something keeping me from getting it off?
@fictionreader Should just be clipped in. Watch the video carefully at that section. Lift one side out then the other should just slide out. I do not believe adhesive is involved at that section. We understand you don't want to break your phone, but some pieces are stronger and do require a bit of force, just be careful and be sure there is nothing else holding it in place. Good luck!
when i did the replacement of my screen everything worked great with the exception of one thing. when i place a call my screen goes out. the call is still placed and everything is perfect except when i need to end the call i cannot turn the screen back on the do so. the only way i can end the call is to remove the battery from the phone. can you give me any ideas as to what the problem is and how i can go about fixing it?
@24nlee48 This is a simple issue, the light proximity sensor has been covered from adhesive or similar. Take a look at our touch screen digitizer prep video we recently added, this will show you how adhesive or other small cables can cause this black screen to occur. You will need to disassemble your Aria and clear the sensor area. Hope this helps. Good luck!
He's right about the adhesive. It needs to be replaced. I had same issue. Squeezing screen to phone allowed me to see screen. Kind of annoying but if you can squeeze and put on speaker when it comes up, it will stay on.
Many thanks for prompt response. I have checked and checked agin - all connections are definitely in. I have also put old digitizer back on and screen still blank. Phone turns on and lights at the bottom come on, alo have sound. Just LCD screen blank ??
@martinjackson1975 Sounds like the LCD screen was damaged, or the flex ribbon cable from the motherboard to the LCD. The slightest rip, break, or damage can cause the LCD screen to fire up correctly. Pulling the LCD and examining it would be my next move. Also the connector on the motherboard may be dirty or damaged causing a bad connection. If all checks out, be sure the ribbon is correctly placed in for a full connection and try again. Hope this helps!
@LVA2010 It is possible it is a connection issue, if not, it is a faulty touch screen digitizer. Opening up the phone and checking the connection is the best way to diagnose whether the touch screen is faulty or not. You can find replacement touch screen at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. Good luck!
Hey i fixed my htc aria follwing your awesome steps. However, after fixing the phone, i am not able to hear the other person's voice during a phone call though they can hear me. If i turn on the speaker, it works fine but normally, i am not able to hear the other person. Any thing that i did wrong during the fix??
@sivcool5 Glad to hear! Sounds like a connections issue with your earpiece speaker. This is the speaker near the top of the phone. Double check the connection on it, or if you believe the speaker has become faulty, we do offer replacement Aria ear speakers at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. Good luck!
Where exactly is the antenna on the phone?? My cell signal is not working and i see that you told another person to check the antenna, where is it and what does it look like?
@capricorn11j2 The antenna cable is the white cable located at the top of the phone which leads down near the LCD flex ribbon cable. Check for possible connection issues. Good luck!
@ Ogarek-Hey I just fixed my HTC Aria screen, & I was wondering if you were able to fix the issue with the phone going black when you are in dialer.? I am now having this exact same thing with mine. First it wouldnt go black during phonecall, but now i opened it back up & checked 4 adhesive or anything blocking the sensor & after cleaning that area it goes black & wont re-light screen after??
SUCCESS!!Haha AT&T & your silly OTA 2.2. Only issue I see is that the backlight on screen in dialer didnt turn off so the sensor is off but Ill go back and tweak it. Repair Universe instructions worked perfect & they got me the tools in 2 days. And the small phillips is actually tiny(1.6 mm).
The Aria/Gratia may not be the best android phone, but it isnt that old either. With the lack of support & update with security we are being forced to purchase the next model in their line-up. Maybe anonymous can help put these corporations back in line even there arent severs 2 shut down.?Ok done with rant. ANy1 know of a universal bootloader 4 android phones.please let me know.Otherwise i will b swapping my screens. Thanks.
If this cant be done I should have a new aria for sale soon.lol. I dont want a fully locked phone with AT&T bloatware all over it, but didnt know that it would come with Hboot security within their update. I was running unofficial 2.2 a year ago & now they want 2 force us 2 take this update now that they finally made the long leap 2 2.2?? Seems like the idea of open-source is only useful when the cellphone service providers are not only working on updates for the newest phone they will be sellin
Ok so i broke the LCD screen(but not the digitizer ) on my Aria(running CM7.03/gingerbread). I had insurance and got a replacement, but unfortunetly it had AT&T's OTA 2.22 update with Root security.I want to take the screen off this new(crap)phone & put it on my broken(yet superb)original Aria. Can this be done?? I already placed order for Tri-wing screwdriver, Safe open pry tool, & adhesive strips from Repair Universe.
@ThisIzJTV We used a tri-wing screwdriver, small phillips screwdriver, and safe open pry tools. All of which can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com
i've never had any experience with any electronics, and followed the instructions exactly, and everything went exceptionally well! you saved my girlfriend $90, thanks!
@ogarek You likely covered your proximity sensor with adhesive from the screen. This makes the phone think that the phone is still up to your ear. Find the small "dot" with the proximity sensor and make sure its clear. Should fix the issue. Good luck!
@smw3108 Sounds like you have block the sensor most likely with the screens adhesive. Make sure the clear holes on the screen are not blocked as this is what the sensor "sees" through. Cover these and it won't work correctly.
Great video, wonderful help.... however, I found that the in the picture with the speaker your speaker is upside down, at least relative to mine, took me a while to figure out the problem.
hi ive replaced my screen, everything works except there is no cell signal now.. i used to get full bars at home but now it shows i have none. Do you know how i might have messed that up..and how to fix it?
@swtxcandygrl Sounds like there's a simply connection issue with the antenna. Just check over the connections, connect everything up and it will be like new!
What would you suggest I do about a stripped screw on this phone? Many of the general suggestions involve liquids or banging, and I would prefer to not do that to my phone. I have all of the equipment to replace the screen, but the upper left screw is stripped enough that I haven't been able to get it out with just the screwdriver that worked for the rest.
@elielieliii First I would try to remove the screw using the correct size screwdriver. There may still be enough grip where the correct size screwdriver would get the screw out. You must of been using the wrong screwdriver for it to strip.

@djlewis103 Sounds like a possible alignment issue then. Basically if the prox sensor does not have a clear view this is normally the effect.
RepairsUniverse 2 months ago
I didn't use any adhesive. Is there a spray or do I have to buy a liner/gasket that holds it down?
stewarthousehold 2 months ago
@stewarthousehold Adhesive strips are suggested, these are cut to fit. We have a great guide in our channel for this - "Touch Screen Assembly". The adhesive we use is perfect for these touch screens and can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com, but others are available if you are looking for a quicker fix. Thin double sided tape can work as well.

@stewarthousehold hey stewart im gonna replace my screen how does yours go without the adhesive? it work okay?
travisjugum 2 months ago
@shanimouzon This is the LCD screen that is not functioning. Likely the part is fine, just a bad connection from the LCD flex cable to the motherboard. I would suggest checking this connection to be sure it is fully in place, without damage.
RepairsUniverse 2 months ago
I replace the screen fine but I have to press the touch screen extra hard for it respond. any help is appreciated.
stewarthousehold 2 months ago
@stewarthousehold Hmm, could be a few things - unsure where you bought the part from, but if it is not OEM then there can be quality issues such as this. Another less likely possibility is that the connection is not fully in place. What kind of adhesive was used to attach the screen?
RepairsUniverse 2 months ago
Ive got a little bit of a problem. I did all of the steps and pretty much 95% of everything works great. The only thing is that when I get a phone call or I call someone, its very slow, and the screen goes completely black. and I can't end the call because the screen is black until the other person finishes the call and it goes right back to the home screen. I also can't change it to speaker, because when it is in call mode, it only stays black, so I can't use my phone while talking. HELP! PLZZ
icnyouthbasketball 2 months ago
@icnyouthbasketball The reason for this is the proximity sensor has been covered. Basically the sensor is continually seeing black (as it is covered by adhesive) so it assumes the phone is still up to your ear. You will need to disassemble and clear the small holes (different color than the rest of the touch screen). I would suggest watching our "Touch Screen Assembly" video - this will walk you through the process.
RepairsUniverse 2 months ago
ok, i was able to replace the screen and put everything back together and it turns on and the screen works, the only problem is it says i need to insert a sim card but it is already in. I have tried the old paper wedge trick with no luck, please help!
TheBlackCricket 2 months ago
@TheBlackCricket I would suggest checking the motherboard and area around the sim card for loose connections or damage. It is likely a simple connection error, but unsure the exact connection.

I've got a bit of a problem. I change the screen like in the video, but when i turned on the phone again, the speaker of the phone didn't work. You can speak in the phone but cant hear the answers from the person in the other end. is it the speaker you take of in the video at 3.34?? How can i repair the phone??
Thanks
Nickmoritzen 3 months ago
@Nickmoritzen Yes, that is the earpiece speaker. Likely just a bad connection. Be sure the metal contacts from the speaker are lined up correctly with the metal contact points on the flex cable. If it still does not function properly, replacing the speaker may be required, these are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

@RepairsUniverse
Thanks for your quick response.
It was the two metal contacts from the speaker that was the problem.

MrDecfrv 3 months ago
@MrDecfrv The two cables are antenna cables for signal and WiFi. The nodes to the right of this control the battery discharge.

the thing is the battery sticker is not completely pink, but looks like a smudge so I'm not sure, and I see when you take out the digitizer its so easy but the freakin cable is stuck in mine :( is there a public email I can send the pic of my battery to and maybe get diagnosed? thanks so much for your help

is there a way I can get to the mother board and maybe try to clean it? :( thanks
gamer4615 3 months ago
@gamer4615 You can follow the video and you will have access to the motherboard. I do not believe cleaning it will do it any good if it was water damaged. If you would like to try though, use Q-tips and a small bit of alcohol.
RepairsUniverse 3 months ago
pink sticker means water damaged right? I bought it used so I have no clue, then the seller lied to me
gamer4615 3 months ago
@gamer4615 Yes, pink sticker means it has been exposed to water.
RepairsUniverse 3 months ago
and whats the blue thing called?
gamer4615 3 months ago
when I charge my aria nothing is on like it's dead, the battery sticker has turned pink, so is it the battery or the screen is dead? thanks
gamer4615 3 months ago
@gamer4615 An easy way to tell is to see if a computer will recognize it. The blue tool is called a "safe open pry tool". These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
The water damage can be an issue. Possible the motherboard was damaged and is causing no power to be transferred. Pretty difficult to tell from afar. A local repair shop may be able to provide more information.

voyfan99 4 months ago
thanks man idid it and all but when im called the screen turns off and i cant turn it back on
toooooooooooooooooby 5 months ago
@toooooooooooooooooby This is caused by an obstruction to the light sensor. Sometimes adhesive is placed over these sensors (on the touch screen) and once the sensor is activated it will not deactivate because no light is being shown. Check out our "Touch Screen Assembly" video in our channel for more information about this.
RepairsUniverse 5 months ago
dang it, i got 2 digitizers from a hong kong seller on ebay. the accuracy of the touches are very off if the digitizer is snug with the case. the proximity sensor is also intermittently non-functional. i can't figure out why, there is no obstruction of the sensor. when i re-install the original cracked digitizer, there is no problem at all with functionality. will ask my mom if she wants to try buying it here or just renew her contract for a new phone
1stb1 5 months ago
@1stb1 Sorry to hear. BEWARE of aftermarket screens, they are made of inferior material and will only cost you more in the long run. When I took the piece containing the power button off, a small (about an 1/8 inch)square-ish rubber piece and a flat black piece with a small tail fell out. Any idea where these go so I can reassemble the phone? Thanks.
myrtlesc 5 months ago
@myrtlesc I know some pieces are loosely connected to the power button assembly. I cannot get to specific as exact location, but just look for old spots where they appear to fit, such as markings or light adhesive.
RepairsUniverse 5 months ago
@myrtlesc it could be the padding that goes around the camera, that's the only little part that i can think of up there. there is the earpiece, that has 2 little metal leads sticking out the back
1stb1 5 months ago
@myrtlesc that happened to me too, was the flat black piece sticky? if so, i just put it back on top of the hard square piece. Also, the long rubber piece should go on before you put the piece containing the power button back on. It's where your ear touches when you are on the phone (idk how to describe it lol)
murii1002 5 months ago
thanks for the vid! I had to watch it backwards so i could remember how to put everything back together lol
murii1002 5 months ago
the adhesive made it a pain to separate the parts >:( thought i was going to break it. anyway, thank for the video. digitizer is replaced and working. phone seems to function as before. only part i hate is i can never get all of the dust off the transparent surfaces before i put everything back together. maybe i have a dusty room.
1stb1 5 months ago 2
@1stb1 Good work. But yes dust is always an issue. Doing it in a less dusty room and cleaning the screen prior (preferably with a microfiber cloth) is your best bet to avoid this situation again.
RepairsUniverse 5 months ago
@1stb1 dang it, the digitizer stopped working a few hours after i replaced it. touches register in the wrong place no matter what i try. cleaning it, reconnecting the cable. put the cracked old one back in and it works fine. the ebay seller i got it from doesnt accept returns but accepts exchanges. hope the next one works

Hi,
This video was a great help in replacing the touchscreen. After the replacement The phone won't start up anymore. When charging the led light goes on and turns green once fully charged but the phone is dead.
Any ideas?
lokilokeren 5 months ago
@lokilokeren Does it sound like the phone is starting? Chimes, etc? If so, it is possible the LCD connection is just not fully in place, or the cable has been damaged. Take a look and make sure all connections are snugly in place. If the phone just completely shuts off, I would still suggest the same thing, likely the simple solution.

I just changed my HTC aria screen but now the wifi is very unstabile and doesnt work most of the time and when I call someone or someone calls me I can't hear what they are saying, but they can hear me. How can I fix those problems?
awesomegurl1939 6 months ago

I went back in to make sure everything was secure and didn't find a problem.
capricorn11j2 6 months ago
@capricorn11j2 Could be an issue with the flex cable or touch sensors. If everything visible seems good then I would contact the supplier and get the screen tested.

IndoJoke 6 months ago
@IndoJoke There are a few possible things I would suggest checking. I would double check the antenna cable connection. At 2:20 in the video you can make sure both are fully in place, then follow them up and make sure they are fully connected on the top section. That is the most likely reason and is normally a quick check. Good luck!

donnanguyen86 6 months ago
@donnanguyen86 I believe there are two reasons why this is happening. Was the light sensor covered with adhesive? Please check our "Touch Screen Assembly Video" for more information on this. For the audio issue, I suggest checking the connection of the speaker. We do have a speaker replacement video on our channel , specifically for the earpiece speaker. Hope these helps and you can resolve these issues.

hi. sorry, I broke only the extternal glass, not the touchscreen...I buy from You the gasket in order to take off only the glass...but have I to do all You do in this video, or I have only ( from the front ) take out the first glass?
thanks
00SoParanoid00 6 months ago
@00SoParanoid00 - What I would like to know is if the digitizer and the external glass have something to be so attached....I bought from You the gasket...is that one that I have to use?
thanks
00SoParanoid00 6 months ago
@00SoParanoid00 You will need to replace the glass touch screen digitizer. The outer glass is the same as the touch screen. You cannot remove from the front, although that would be much easier, because of the flex cables holding in place. You will need to follow the guide to replace the screen. The digitizer for the Aria is available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

@kriti78 Yes I believe it is. If not, it may have some very subtle differences, but as far as hardware goes, they are nearly identical.

@RepairsUniverse thank you very much for your response. i replaced the screen, everything works fine except that i can not hear the other person while they hear me. aqdditionally, when i call the screen is dark (like the sensor is not working). any ideas?
kriti78 7 months ago
@kriti78 Does the loud speaker work fine (swapping to speaker)? If so, the earpiece speaker connection may not be fully connected. The reason the screen goes dark is because the light sensor has been covered or blocked (possibly by adhesive). Check out the "Touch Screen Assembly Guide" in our channel for an example of proper adhesive placement. Good luck!

i just replaced my digitizer. the screen works but when i placed a call the phone completely cut off. once i cut the phone back on i no longer had any coverage. What went wrong??
jljordan06 7 months ago
@jljordan06 Tough to say exactly. Opening your Aria back up and checking around the antenna wire, ect would be my first place to look. Check for loose connections. If you can't diagnose the problem then let us know and I'll try to walk you through a few other steps. Good luck!
RepairsUniverse 7 months ago
@RepairsUniverse thanks for the quick reply. I took the phone apart again and checked everything but I'm still having the same issue.
jljordan06 7 months ago
@jljordan06 Because there is no coverage available, it is likely either the antenna or antenna cable. The antenna cable may seem in place, but loose, or not fully connected. This is a common issue. Be sure to firmly press the cable connection in place. If you still have an issue, you will likely need to speak with a tech to get the issue resolved.
RepairsUniverse 7 months ago
I'm having trouble getting the top part with the power button off. I don't want to break anything and it feels like it's stuck. Is that simply adhesive or is there something keeping me from getting it off?
fictionreader 8 months ago

24nlee48 8 months ago
@24nlee48 This is a simple issue, the light proximity sensor has been covered from adhesive or similar. Take a look at our touch screen digitizer prep video we recently added, this will show you how adhesive or other small cables can cause this black screen to occur. You will need to disassemble your Aria and clear the sensor area. Hope this helps. Good luck!
RepairsUniverse 8 months ago
He's right about the adhesive. It needs to be replaced. I had same issue. Squeezing screen to phone allowed me to see screen. Kind of annoying but if you can squeeze and put on speaker when it comes up, it will stay on.

Hi
Many thanks for prompt response. I have checked and checked agin - all connections are definitely in. I have also put old digitizer back on and screen still blank. Phone turns on and lights at the bottom come on, alo have sound. Just LCD screen blank ??
Any ideas ?
martinjackson1975 8 months ago
@martinjackson1975 Sounds like the LCD screen was damaged, or the flex ribbon cable from the motherboard to the LCD. The slightest rip, break, or damage can cause the LCD screen to fire up correctly. Pulling the LCD and examining it would be my next move. Also the connector on the motherboard may be dirty or damaged causing a bad connection. If all checks out, be sure the ribbon is correctly placed in for a full connection and try again. Hope this helps!

What would you suggest I do about a stripped screw on this phone? Many of the general suggestions involve liquids or banging, and I would prefer to not do that to my phone. I have all of the equipment to replace the screen, but the upper left screw is stripped enough that I haven't been able to get it out with just the screwdriver that worked for the rest.
elielieliii 11 months ago
@elielieliii First I would try to remove the screw using the correct size screwdriver. There may still be enough grip where the correct size screwdriver would get the screw out. You must of been using the wrong screwdriver for it to strip.
Failing that you will need to drill the screw.
