Haha, ofcourse this works, but WHO THE HELL TRIES TO HIT SO SLOWLY ??? In the ring, you wont have such slow enemy if you do professional fighting. No K-1 fighter will let you catch his hand like that. So, it's not that effective. The most complete fighting technique does not exist, it is a combination of Karate,Kickboxing and Wrestling. End of the talk.
@zorandesign dude im training mma or shooto how its called in germany and i tried this one in my muay thai class.it worked for me there as my opponent reached for my neck for the muay thai clinch. it only does work if he has already one hand on the back of your head and you then you know where the second hand probably will reach for...on the street it works great against frontal pushing..try it out!
@zorandesign Of course, you don't have the word "demonstration" in your dictionary. There are many different variations for techniques depending on the situation. Don't go crying just because Aikido isn't an art which doesn't strike the opponent. Instead, it makes the opponent - or people like you - seem like a complete failure since Aikido does so much damage with so little effort. Go up to your nearest AIkido dojo and punch them as fast as you can. Then let's see who's complaining.
A similar situation where "real fighters" laugh at Aikido or Judo techniques is actually found in MMA. So many great strikers have said that Karo Parisyan could never use his silly judo crap on them, and I have seen many of those same strikers get flipped on their necks like lightning. These techniques in aikido are similar. Of course a one year novice might not be able to use them effectively, but someone with more training uses them like they are just breathing
@PhantomgreenQBS You can't really piggyback claims of effectiveness on "similarity." Judo it is widely tested against resisting opponents both within and outside its art, and every practitioner at least tests the former in randori. All I can see is anecdotal evidence for the effectiveness of Aikido against a resisting opponent. And any non-Shodokan Aikidoka has no way of knowing whether HIS training has done him any good until it's too late
@jaypresinal But Bas himself has hardly lost. Hell, at least he fought, which is more than I can say for Steven Seagal, Christian Tissier, or any of those other Aikido faggots.
i was joking am not really going to try this on the mat it looks too risky against a straight punch without getting off the line of attack, bas rutten i think thats his name has a good self defence video showing how & when to fade back, leading redirecting it doesnt matter how you describe the movement its still your hand contacting a fast incoming fist to your face, you dont stay on the track if the train is coming .
so you dont get off the line of attack you just fade back a bit not too fast tho & re-direct the fist speeding towards your face by slapping the back of his fist into your elbow? ok wish me luck.
Familiar nomenclature is only relative to what you know. Yeah kenpo has ridiculous names but those names help you to remember the basic premise of the technique. It is easier than grab 1a 1b etc. I go to a school to learn how to fight not to learn another language.
Bad form sir, It should be "I go to school to learn self defense" Not how to fight. "Fighting is aggresive which is NOT the point of self defense. I understand it was probably a poor word choice but I think its important to note the difference.
The elbow is a plus. Hey guys remember first a real fight can land you in jail or sued so lets learn techniques like these that can bring a person to the ground and restrain them. AND JOE I did the Kenpo thing in the 80's. Lets bring you up to date.
Ous sensei. I really enjoy your videos, keep up the good work. Where is your school located and do you implement strikes into your teaching of aikido?
Thanks AikiNinja. I'm in Kansas City these days. And yes, I do implement strikes. My goal is to control my attacker by leading his mind. Punching a guy in the nose certainly leads his mind ;)
kjO1a-most martial artists have never been in a fight but someone looking at this technique would know in all practicality it would not work if the situation warranted it.
i see nothing funny about it. if you do any martial art at all you would know that that works in a fight. I'll bet you've never been in a fight a day in your life
Wow. That's the kettle calling the pot black. Kenpo uses some amazingly ridiculous names. And familiar nomenclature is relative. Everyone who's ever studied aikido knows exactly what I'm talking about. Thanks for watching my videos though.
Well thanks to the advert, i promise I'll never holiday in NI.

I thought MMA had a 'No small joint manipulation' rule anyway, barring many many Aikido techniques.
Remember: We learn Aikido that we may never have to use it.

@josephdorrell MMA is a sport.

@LA55A51N0 That was the point I was making. MMA cannot be used as a proxy for real fighting because it has rules.

True.. But I've still seen a 10 year old throw an adult.. Although this isn't really done instinctively, it's still fun to see..

does your martial arts knowledge or street fighting knowledge defy aikido? ...
why don't you go to an aikido school with a camera tape yourself fighting one intermediate aikido fighter and posting it on youtube.
Remember to tell them to go easy on you beforehand though.
