Tune!!!! Can't beat a bit of Simply red like. True music at its very best. Mick Hucknall is such an amazingly talented singer. Annoys me that music nowadays has virtually no meaning or substance - its either about getting wasted, dancing in a club or their recent girl/boyfriend and how they broke their heart. Dry your eyes and listen to some real music. Dingbats lol Rant over! :P
i have to come back to listen to mick sing about once a week. i lost my wife to cancer7 years ago this month and this was her favorite song. she was a 6ft 2 red redhead and was gods most beautiful creation. i miss her so much and i get lonely for her so i come and listen to mick and rebreak my heart and cant stop. she was a flawless, perfect beauty without a single mar on her anywhere. gave me five great kids and died at 52 IF THERE IS A GOD I HATE HIS ASS. RIP CAROL DARLING SEE YOU SOON
@Tonymount every day i wake to her favorite song and a huge portrait of her on my wall - she was truly a goddess how i got her i'll never know but the moment i saw her i told her i ws going to marry her. i'm 6ft 4 go 225 or so and when young was ripped and everyone said i looked like SUPERMAN but that had nothing to do with it. she told me where she lived and 14 months later on leave from USMC i went and found her and al she said was"WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG" married a week later i miss her
@iadanza thanks for the offer. it was very sweet. i've had others but my heart belongs to the one who had it first and forever. my wife was truly a flawless gem of a lady. she raised five kids sometimes with me gone for a year cause i was a marine for 35 yrs now retired, 2 doctors, an engineer, an orthodontist and a nun. i'm very proud of each of them. i know where she is and that i will see her and all our animals and friends when i get there and we will run barefoot thru green fields at age 25
@Tonymount long time since you said that but someone else just sent me a nice note so i thought i'd say thanks to you as well. its hard sometimes but i was a marine for 35 yrs and i get thru by knowing when i go we will both be 25 and will run thru green fields with all our dogs and cats and friends and my brother warriors who passed in action and it'll be jolly well times, as me nana would of said in her brougue it canna be no otha way me timmy lad for the divil wouldnt want ye he'd be afraid
My daughter took me to a simply red concert for mothers day years ago don't think she was bothered about the music but for some reason she wet her pant's when the Man U team landed in their helicopter and came on stage?
@MrApr81 I envy you! That 'scruffy little red head' has always followed his own path hasn't he? And now to be able to look back on a musical legacy which has brought so much enjoyment to so many people around the world!
In all seriousness, I'd give my left nut to sing like this dude. Also, he once almost knocked me over coming around the corner in Amsterdam. A polite "pardon me," no eye contact, and he was on his way...holding back those years! HA!
I still remember the first time I watched the video - him on a train... it is timeless and gives me goosebumps, but unfortunately Youtube has withdrawn all the REALLY good stuff!
This was aired on Chrismas day 86, I have the original recording in amazing quality. Those old vcr's and tapes were higher quality than the crap from the 90's. A great live version.
I remember my Mom and my Aunt playing songs like this and Sade and the car when I was a kid in Queens, NY back in the early 90s. Ah. Those were the days.
to UKSazzy67 dont know what your prb is but mine stopped untill i typed in a word that was shown to make sure i wasnt a machine lol sounds mad but somtimes you search to many things and it asks you type a word in
The 80's are the sound track of my life... I was teenager when I saw them live in a concert in Brazil... simply red, simply the best.... love you guys !
Hucknall is singing live here?! Eb5 at 3:21 and a C5 at 3:32... you forget what an amazing singer Mick Hucknall is. That said, the backing vocals here are atrocious.
Mick Hucknall has a voice in a million. It doesn't matter if you like him. The only other guy I've ever heard with a voice this smooth, powerful and unmistakable is Steve Perry.
amazing how good they sound live, I actually did this song at karaoke and got a standing ovation. It took a long time to master this classic. When you do its like heaven and every one is in the moment with you. I treasure the fact that I can do this song and even sound like him.
During the 80's a lot of us thought it was the era of clinical, soulless, tacky tripe. It's funny watching this stuff almost 25 years later, it seems we were completely wrong. The 80's was a great time for music.
Wonderful voice in the early days Simply Red had so much passion as evidenced with this and other classics such as "She'll have to Go" by Fairground it seemed sadly a lot of that fire was diminished
