It was a temporary indoor nightime unit for when weather conditions are unfavorable outside. Please no "know it alls" on here, our animals are given incredible care and have been with us for close to a decade now. This behavior as I have said numerous times, is 100% normal especially when females are gravid and it has NOTHING to do with the size of the enclosure. Again, this is a TEMPORARY nightime unit. Thank you for looking :)
it looked lyk it was attemting to ''mate'' the other tortoises.was she pregnant?coz the only time female tortoises do that is when they are about to lay eggs in the next 1 hour
Very interesting! Similar mounting behavior by females has been observed in rodents (mice, rabbits) to some degree and more recently scientists were able to create a female mouse that would aggressively mount others. The way the brain functions seems to be conserved between mammals and reptiles.

no they are not, they are females, they are displaying agression, typical of these tortoises in certain conditions.

These tortoises regardless if they are male or female will show agression towards each other whether they have eggs or not.
