I don't understand americans. They called football boring, how the hell did they enjoyed baseball. Full respect to baseball, the first sport that brings me to an early bed! Dumbasses
I think all of you nonamericans need to realize that soccer isn't really hated in the united states as much as it is just ignored. We just like other sports more. It's called AMERICAN Football, if you're so butthurt about the proper name, you FUTBOL fans should have noticed that by now. It's called Football because the ball is a foot long and the game originated from Rugby Football which evolved from Futbol, you Futbol fans don't seem to give a shit about. I personally believe that you target American Football fans because it's becoming more popular every year, and that's why you never even mention Rugby.
@ShortFingeredShreder rugby was never called rugby football. lol @ football getting popular each year. thats why America is still the only one who takes it seriously right? lmao
No wonder they hate the sport, I would hate it if my sport was called 'Soccer', if this guy is a big 'Sukkah' fan why doesn't he call it by it's proper name in football.
I am english and the name Soccer originated from England. to distinguish the game from the other versions of football played at the time, such as rugby football. The word soccer is a colloquial abbreviation of association (from assoc.) and first appeared in the 1880s. An early usage found in an English 1892
@milliemilo1 I think that most realize that the name soccer originated in England, let's face it people LOVE to bash Americans(even thought they're far from the only country that calls it that), bashing Americans seems to be as popular as the game of soccer/football.

I have an American friend and he said Americans never enjoy watching soccerfootball because its always a low scoring game...its impossible to get past 25-30 points a game...LOL!
@Jaso700 if you look at american football is low scoring, a touchdown is 6 points plus the fieldgoal 7 if a goal was equal 6 points and than kick a penalty kick it would be 7 points but one goal is one goal so it aint about numbers is about skills to score, basketball is easier to score it dont need much skills to score like soccer
This is why football isn't succeeding to the potential it's capable of in the US; this guy is an American, yet he can't name one mls team, and is wearing an ENGLAND shirt. Nothing worse than a eurosnob
@123chrisftw I sort of a agree with you, but MLS is growing in USA and Canada, I'm a season ticket holder for Toronto FC and they sell out most games albeit it's a small stadium (20,000) it is a great game.
@stubs96 i live in England and i follow the mls, (Dc united are my team). I think it's a great league, and so do many of my friends. So my point is if people in England can get behind it, why can't most Americans?

@NoFlowButStillBro what ball?? lol the american football isn't exactly a ball shape is it. so theres another dumb excuse to why american football is called football.
@NoFlowButStillBro your telling me to think of things before i say them?? you people were the ones who decided to rename rugby football haha how about you think things through before say them cause you obviously didn't think of what you were gonna call your favorite sport. i mean come on when ever do you use your foot in american football hardly ever? and when do you use your foot in real football.....always?
@kemoblue4u actually According to Heiner Gillmeister, a European language expert, "cricket" derives from the Middle Dutch met de (krik ket)sen (i.e., "with the stick chase"), which also suggests a Dutch connection in the game's origin.......so yeah name cricket does make sence unlike american football
@gladifly My ass. That's just a thought. The game has been traced back to 16th century England. There is zero proof of Dutch influence. Nice try though. You have looked up the history of the game have you? Apparently not.
@kemoblue4u what do you mean nice try?? its a well know fact that the dutch had influence in the game in the late 16th century. so i wasn't trying to prove anything the name cricket has already been proven while american football on the other hand has no logic or proof to why it has its name.
@gladifly Read the top comment by Stubs96. Makes perfect sense to me. Besides, I dont care, you live 4,000 miles away who cares what you guys think. You don't here us complaining about you guys calling GPS, SatNAV or Parking Lots, Carparks or Cell phones, mobiles. Because we dont give a shit about what you guys say or do. Apparently everyone in Europe cares about what we say and do though. Thanks for the attention! NFL Sunday was great btw!
@kemoblue4u Firstly, GPS and satnav are two different things (Global Positioning Systems tell you where you are and Satalite Navigational systems show you where to go (albeit badly)). Secondly, how do you know you aren't wrong with the others? Is it because you invented them? Think again; no you didn't. You just claim them and as far as you care, that's that. What IS yours, isn't. All your sports, for example, were either made in Canada or are just a European game with body armour.
@Scaveed And to add on to the GPS = SatNav. Youre just being a tool about it. Its a US invention and we call it GPS. Its the same damn thing with a different name. And since when did satellite become "satalite"? So much for that limited knowledge we have. I'm not going to turn this in to a back and forth though, there's enough of that on the internet. NBA is back, NFL playoffs coming up!!!! Have a good day man.
@kemoblue4u Oh, and just because we know other countries exist doesn't make us worse people. If anything, it makes more intelligent. Did you know that over 75% of Americans will never leave the States? Or that over a quarter of the American population think Europe is one country? And 4000 physical miles is nothing to todays world, supported as it is by the internet. Then there's your claim to everything; Shakespeare, Churchill and many others have all been portrayed as American.
@kemoblue4u In short, America is a country with no history, no maturity, limited knowledge of anything outsie America, limited wisdom, racist views, a strong bias against anything that isn't laisez-faire capitalism, such as communism, socialism or liberalism, and a pretty unbelieveable attitude to just about everything.
@Scaveed In the United States we call it GPS. I know what they stand for. How can I be wrong about something that is correct within my OWN country? And I was just using those as examples of differences between US and UK English. You guys are ALWAYS complaining about what "Americans do wrong."
LOL And your second comment is nothing short of ignorant. But its okay because like I said before, no one in this country gives a shit about what you think. You live 4,000 miles away. You're irrelevant.
the reason why americans don't play football is because they are shit at it just like most other things that have originated outside of their borders. by the way theres no such thing as soccer just becasue americans call it soccer doesn't mean the whole world will now know it as soccer. ITS FOOTBALL hence why you use your foot to kick the ball only dumb americans wouldn't know that.
@gladifly The only Men in America who play European Football / Soccer are 3rd rate athletes that can't make it @ any other sport in America. Just stating the facts!
People around the world: It doesn't matter what we call it Football, Soccer, Kick-the-ball, whatever. The rules are all universally the same no matter what we call it when we take the field.
@rostofroflmao we call it a jersey ..different countrys different names..like in ireland we also have to say soccer because in ireland football is the gaelic sport..so we say soccer instead of football to stop confusion..no need for the name calling either
I hate how soccer people dont root for their home team. You dont see people in texas wearing a michigan jersey. Or someone in california wearing a virginia tech jersey. You foreigners just root for whatever team is good instead of sticking with your home team until they get better.
@chanzig23 It might be because England is much smaller than the US, and its down to who parents support. For example I spent alot of my life supporting Man Utd, because my two older brothers did.
Why is american football is called football? only 1 person is allowed to kick the ball and he has to be brought onto the field to do it lol Real futbol is actually played with your foot lol i never understand why americans call it football...
@FenerbahceSK7584 the Americans didn't name their game after the body part used to control the ball, they named it after the sport if evolved from being rugby FOOTBALL.
@FenerbahceSK7584 association football came first followed by rugby football, then Australian rules football Gaelic football and lastly gridiron football. I don't know all the years, but I do know that there are "American" football teams that were established over 140 years ago, but association football is definitely the first.
@FenerbahceSK7584 they call it football because it evolved from rugby football, it was named for the game it evolved from and not the body part used to control the ball.
@stubs96 "Rugby Football" noone in England calls Rugby Football because frankly they have a brain. Football is an OLDER sport than Rugby therefore, should be the only sport which holds the name all others are cheap rip offs.
I'm afraid you are the stupid one my friend. The word soccer was invented by the British and it is a very good word to use as an alternative to football. Soccer is derived from the world "asSOCiation" as in Association Football....which is the OFFICIAL NAME of the sport. Australians, New Zealanders, Candians and Irish all use the word soccer, not just Americans. It amazes me how many small minded people like you are out there getting all upset over a simple word. Pathetic. Get over it.
american football??? kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
@DJPF1011 there is nothing wrong with wearing another country's jersey loads of people wear the spain, brazil and new zealand kits who are not from those countrys
@tiato99 the name had nothing to do with the hand or foot controlling the ball, they named it "football" because it evolved from rugby football and after many years and rule changes the game's name was shortened from "rugby football" to just "football". I hope this helps you understand the naming of their game.
Theres lots of comments about the England Shirt...What has got me confused is why the Wolves scarf...I know Birmingham is multicultural but I didn't think it had a downtown new jersey just yet. And to put an end to all this Soccer V Football debate..the US team are a member of FIFA, therfore they are signed up for playing the game of "Association Football"...NOT Association Soccer.
@GirlFeetSniffer4U whats gay about Real football, our players dont wear tight pants or make up or bend over for most of the match and statistics are showing its working in america just behind NHL in average attendances with a lot of smaller stadiums. it rules the world
"when i was 9 and 10 i played football and didnt like it too much... so when i became 11 i tried out soccer"
TRANSLATION
"when i was 9 and 10 i didnt like the physical aspect of football, whether it be the hitting or the intensity of the game i just don't know, i just knew i couldnt handle it. When i became 11 i found a game where no one gets hits and all you do is run! its like cross country with a ball its AWESOME!
The Soccer the only sport that can unite immigrant hating whites and immigrants....Im kidding white soccer fans don't hate immigrants they just try to live far away from them (lol). Soccer in America, geez even NHL has a hard time selling ice hockey in the South. MLS in seen as a minor league to the Mexicans and a dumping ground for old futbol players ex. Beckham. MLS really need an American Soccer star.
@devilrobbie25 cus america sucks! I've got friends in spain that are fans of other countries it's normal in soccer. I live in valencia and I I'm a barcelona fan, I just can't stand valencia fans so instead of standing up with them you just switch teams. It's pretty common in soccer.
@iiDiViNeHD 1 world cup before you and I were even born. ZERO major tournament wins...barely made it out of the group, yup I'd they are shit LOL Its an Englsih invented sport and they fucking suck at it ahahaha! Not to mention its their number one sport. Pathetic. US undefeated against England in WC matches SUCK ON THAT!
@kemoblue4u Umm we've won World Cup which is more than you, we nearly beat you but one little fuck up by the keeper. You've never beaten us. We suck but we're in the top 10 rankings? We also play cricket and we're number one in the world at that and rugby which we're like 3rd in the world. The number 1 golfer in the world is English and we've got a British tennis player thats ranked 4th so i think you need to get you're facts straight. We've got Man U and Liverpool that wud beat USA easy
@iiDiViNeHD LOL Soccer is maybe the fifth most popular sport here. 1950 World Cup USA-1 England 0 lol wow talking and you dont even know what youre talking about. We have beaten you. And you bring up cricket? How many world cups does England have in cricket? ZERO. Third in the world in Rugby? pffttt. Australia, New Zealand and South Af. crush England. Even Ireland is better. Besides 70% of the EPL Is FOREIGN born. Even the clubs know English players suck
@kemoblue4u I'll give you credit you know alot about sport so fair play but the only sports America can play are the sports and that nobody else plays for e.g. Baseball, 'American' Football.
@stubs96 But apart Japan those countries are shit at sport if I'm perfectly honest. Look what I'm trying to say is. English football players are better than American soccer players because we've been playing it for longer. But the thing is england has like 40million ppl America has over 300 million so you'd expect USA to be good at every sport but thats not the case and its the same with China.
@iiDiViNeHD Japan did win the last classic world baseball championship, but not vs USA it was Korea. There were 16 countries competing ( I know that's not even close to the world cup), but to say that only USA and Japan are the only countries that are any good at the game is an uninformed comment.
@baleariclife89 I'm American and i dont give a shit about what the sport is called because its pointless making a huge deal about an issue so small. All it does is just prove that everyone does things differently and there is nothing wrong with that. So stop being such a hater you ass
@popcornwithpeanuts I'm sure many people support more than one country, but this man claims to be American (it's in the title of his video), wouldn't you think that USA would be his #1 country that he'd support? Also if he's trying to encourage Americans to support Soccer/football, you'd think he'd wear a USA jersey, wouldn't you?
I don't think it's a problem. When I'm in the US, Americans know - per my accent - that football = soccer, as much as I don't arrogantly walk around saying football and expect them to assume it. It's usually a force of habit. NFL American Football is - as noted - very much a USA thing only. Superbowl only gets 100m viewers worldwide and that's including 60m in the US. Would be funny if Rugby League took off in the US.
@Geraldo1101 well i'm mexican but that doesn't really means that i can't type in english.....just like you can't type in spanish withouth using a translator....xD
@marck1293 you were sucking up to a yank who was dividing the posters here up into Americans and foreigners. That's pathetic, since you're a foreigner (non American). If you can't grasp that.. I can't help you.

@kemoblue4u what do you mean nice try?? its a well know fact that the dutch had influence in the game in the late 16th century. so i wasn't trying to prove anything the name cricket has already been proven while american football on the other hand has no logic or proof to why it has its name.
gladifly 3 months ago
@gladifly Read the top comment by Stubs96. Makes perfect sense to me. Besides, I dont care, you live 4,000 miles away who cares what you guys think. You don't here us complaining about you guys calling GPS, SatNAV or Parking Lots, Carparks or Cell phones, mobiles. Because we dont give a shit about what you guys say or do. Apparently everyone in Europe cares about what we say and do though. Thanks for the attention! NFL Sunday was great btw!
kemoblue4u 3 months ago 10
@kemoblue4u ok
gladifly 3 months ago

Scaveed 2 months ago
@kemoblue4u In short, America is a country with no history, no maturity, limited knowledge of anything outsie America, limited wisdom, racist views, a strong bias against anything that isn't laisez-faire capitalism, such as communism, socialism or liberalism, and a pretty unbelieveable attitude to just about everything.
Scaveed 2 months ago
@Scaveed In the United States we call it GPS. I know what they stand for. How can I be wrong about something that is correct within my OWN country? And I was just using those as examples of differences between US and UK English. You guys are ALWAYS complaining about what "Americans do wrong."
LOL And your second comment is nothing short of ignorant. But its okay because like I said before, no one in this country gives a shit about what you think. You live 4,000 miles away. You're irrelevant.
kemoblue4u 2 months ago
the reason why americans don't play football is because they are shit at it just like most other things that have originated outside of their borders. by the way theres no such thing as soccer just becasue americans call it soccer doesn't mean the whole world will now know it as soccer. ITS FOOTBALL hence why you use your foot to kick the ball only dumb americans wouldn't know that.
gladifly 4 months ago

You foreigners just root for whatever team is good instead of sticking with your home team until they get better.
chanzig23 4 months ago
@chanzig23 It might be because England is much smaller than the US, and its down to who parents support. For example I spent alot of my life supporting Man Utd, because my two older brothers did.
Username6572 4 months ago
Why is american football is called football? only 1 person is allowed to kick the ball and he has to be brought onto the field to do it lol Real futbol is actually played with your foot lol i never understand why americans call it football...
FenerbahceSK7584 4 months ago
@FenerbahceSK7584 the Americans didn't name their game after the body part used to control the ball, they named it after the sport if evolved from being rugby FOOTBALL.
stubs96 4 months ago
@stubs96 hmm interesting... so what came first? european football or american football?
FenerbahceSK7584 4 months ago
@FenerbahceSK7584 association football came first followed by rugby football, then Australian rules football Gaelic football and lastly gridiron football. I don't know all the years, but I do know that there are "American" football teams that were established over 140 years ago, but association football is definitely the first.
stubs96 4 months ago
@stubs96
european footbal was invented in 1840 ^^.
vinvancent 4 months ago
@FenerbahceSK7584 they call it football because it evolved from rugby football, it was named for the game it evolved from and not the body part used to control the ball.
stubs96 4 months ago 71
Rugby came from football In England lots of our football(soccer)clubs where formed in the 1800s.
MARKKY2727 3 months ago

Why is American Football named the way it is when it is clear that it is played with the HANDS!!!! Stupid Americans!!!!
tiato99 5 months ago
@tiato99 the name had nothing to do with the hand or foot controlling the ball, they named it "football" because it evolved from rugby football and after many years and rule changes the game's name was shortened from "rugby football" to just "football". I hope this helps you understand the naming of their game.

And to put an end to all this Soccer V Football debate..the US team are a member of FIFA, therfore they are signed up for playing the game of "Association Football"...NOT Association Soccer.

ZERO major tournament wins...barely made it out of the group, yup I'd they are shit LOL Its an Englsih invented sport and they fucking suck at it ahahaha! Not to mention its their number one sport. Pathetic. US undefeated against England in WC matches SUCK ON THAT!
kemoblue4u 7 months ago
@kemoblue4u Umm we've won World Cup which is more than you, we nearly beat you but one little fuck up by the keeper. You've never beaten us. We suck but we're in the top 10 rankings? We also play cricket and we're number one in the world at that and rugby which we're like 3rd in the world. The number 1 golfer in the world is English and we've got a British tennis player thats ranked 4th so i think you need to get you're facts straight. We've got Man U and Liverpool that wud beat USA easy
iiDiViNeHD 7 months ago
@iiDiViNeHD LOL Soccer is maybe the fifth most popular sport here. 1950 World Cup USA-1 England 0 lol wow talking and you dont even know what youre talking about. We have beaten you. And you bring up cricket? How many world cups does England have in cricket? ZERO. Third in the world in Rugby? pffttt. Australia, New Zealand and South Af. crush England. Even Ireland is better. Besides 70% of the EPL Is FOREIGN born. Even the clubs know English players suck
kemoblue4u 7 months ago
@kemoblue4u I'll give you credit you know alot about sport so fair play but the only sports America can play are the sports and that nobody else plays for e.g. Baseball, 'American' Football.
iiDiViNeHD 7 months ago
@iiDiViNeHD Japan, Domincan Republin, Cuba, Peurtorico, North and South Korea and many more all play baseball and many would say Better than USA.
stubs96 7 months ago
@stubs96 But apart Japan those countries are shit at sport if I'm perfectly honest. Look what I'm trying to say is. English football players are better than American soccer players because we've been playing it for longer. But the thing is england has like 40million ppl America has over 300 million so you'd expect USA to be good at every sport but thats not the case and its the same with China.
iiDiViNeHD 7 months ago
@iiDiViNeHD Japan did win the last classic world baseball championship, but not vs USA it was Korea. There were 16 countries competing ( I know that's not even close to the world cup), but to say that only USA and Japan are the only countries that are any good at the game is an uninformed comment.
stubs96 7 months ago
@stubs96 Agreed.
kemoblue4u 7 months ago
@baleariclife89 I'm American and i dont give a shit about what the sport is called because its pointless making a huge deal about an issue so small. All it does is just prove that everyone does things differently and there is nothing wrong with that. So stop being such a hater you ass

@popcornwithpeanuts I'm sure many people support more than one country, but this man claims to be American (it's in the title of his video), wouldn't you think that USA would be his #1 country that he'd support? Also if he's trying to encourage Americans to support Soccer/football, you'd think he'd wear a USA jersey, wouldn't you?
stubs96 8 months ago
I don't think it's a problem. When I'm in the US, Americans know - per my accent - that football = soccer, as much as I don't arrogantly walk around saying football and expect them to assume it. It's usually a force of habit. NFL American Football is - as noted - very much a USA thing only. Superbowl only gets 100m viewers worldwide and that's including 60m in the US. Would be funny if Rugby League took off in the US.
